We had 1 of the worst service experiences in Socal. The guy serving our table had no clue about hospitality and the food industry. He held our whole order for around 1hr until everything was ready and then brought everything out at once. Wedge salad & Lobster Mac & cheese plus all the other appetizers and dishes were served together, even tho we were only 2 ppl. He got only 1 cup for the big bottle of sparkling water. Only 1 small fork for 12 oysters. No smile or politeness whatsoever on his face.
Great experience, food was wonderful and the service was great. We went on a Sunday night and it was not crowded at all, got a table close to the water for a great view of the sunset.
The Valet parking was a mess had to park 2 blocks away in the parking structure but it worked out fine parking charge was only $6
Was disappointed with food mostly, Service was so so ambiance was excellent.
Having worked at restaurants in NYC for Henry Sole's. Le Pavillion also L'Aiglon I know what good food is.
Our server was the highlight of the afternoon. His name was Bobby and he helped make my mother's birthday extra special. Much appreciated.
One issue though, any restaurant needs to make extra sure that the people at the front desk look and act like they're happy to be there. The desk staff were one hair away from being flat out rude. Maybe the ladies had been standing too long or were over due for a break or whatever, but my goodness. Servers are important (and appreciated), but the front staff are who people interact with first. If it weren't my mother's birthday and had reservations, we would've left. If I were alone, I definitely would've left. We shouldn't have had to wait 10mins and watch other parties (some who also walked in after us, for what the information is worth) be seated before us. And certainly shouldn't have been left staring at the staff with out any clarification as to when we would really be seated (saying "a couple of minutes" has never bee left up to interpretation). What are reservations for? You tell me, I guess...
Bobby turned that around. He deserves all the praise and whatever else he asks for.
I have been here before and have had many nice meals. I would consider this an off nite. A mouse run across the dining room floor. The ladies did not take that to well and jumped up on there seats. However the staff handled the situation well and checked on each table and everyone calmed down. Overall the evening went ok considering.
Came for a friend’s birthday! Great atmosphere and friendly service. Was pleasantly surprised when the wait staff came with a huge cotton candy and sang happy birthday! It was an enjoyable experience
Not based on our last experience. Our food was burnt and bland. Service was horrible. It took forever to get our food, drinks and check
I was disappointed: this is historically one of my fav places, but on this visit, the service was *extremely* slow, and the quality of the food was just subpar. My mom ordered a seafood plate with three types of fish, and all of them were very dry - one to the point she could not eat it. I come to Gladstones and am willing to pay a bit more for great food and terrific service. This time, the experience really fell short, and I am sad as it was my first time taking my mom here!
The hostess staff was very abrupt with us. Even though we had reservations we had to wait so we went into the car. We sat there for a good 15 minutes and watched other people get served as we were ignored. When our drinks were served there was no cocktail napkins put down just a drink sat down in the middle of the table and not in front of the people who ordered them. Just a little re-training needs to be done here.
We had a great experience at Gladstone's! Great food and super service.
Wow!!! Gladstone's was excellent. This was the first time that I have ever been to the one in Long Beach. It is really beautiful and the food was to die for :) Clam chowder had a lot of clams and my salad was super fresh and big! We started with the coconut shrimp for an appetizer. It was delicious. We went at 4:00 so it wasn't too crowded so that was nice. We were never rushed. I got parmesan crusted halibut so good and my husband got the island special it was seared ahi tuna which he love, too. It was a great time and will definitely be back!
The outdoor seating was beautiful, but our table was in the sun. Next time, we'll make sure we are at a shaded table or eat inside. Our meal was good, and "Fish and Chips" and "Crab Knuckles" seemed to be the favorite in our group. We'll definitely come again and hope to try some of the other menu items.
The food was good. The service, not as much. We loved the live music!
Had a wonderful dinner !! Peter was our waiter & was great . Very prompt & friendly , professional service . Checked on us throughout our meal . All Food was outstanding & we will be back .
It was a pleasant experience we had. My friends visiting from Australia love the ambiance, good service, friendly staff and good food. Awesome!
Everything was excellent except the noise level was way to high had to shout to carry conversation need to lower the music just a bit. Service was 5 Stars everyone was very nice .
Great location on the water in Long Beach. Food was so-so & service was exceptionally slow. Fortunately we weren’t in a hurry, but that alone would make me think twice before going back. Lots of other choices in that area. Also - note to Management: the Ladies restroom was out of TP on both of my visits. I did report it to the front desk the first time. I heard a few other customers complaining about the same issue.
Halibut was dry. Service was excellent. Nice setting overlooking the water.
Fish tacos had no taste. Service was bad. Calamari was good as was the crab cake appetizers. Would not go back
Food choices not great...food prices were over priced for the quality and portion.
The location and food are excellent. The service left something to be desired. Food came out at different times, errors were made in orders and drink refills never arrived. Not what you’d expect from a nice place.
The noise in the restaurant was so loud that I had to almost yell to be able to talk to my wife.
THE BEST PART OF THE LUCH WAS OUT SERVER BOBBY.. HE WAS ATTENTIVE , INFORMATIVE AND ALWAYS CHECKING IF WE NEEDED SOMETHING.. FOOD WAS GOOD EXPECTED ALITTLE MORE QUALITYFOR THE PRICE... OVERALL A GREAT TIME ANDWE CLEBRATED A BIRTHDAY AS WELL AND AGAIN THE SERVER WAS OUTSTANDING
Even though we had to pushback our reservation short notice, we got in without a wait on a busy summer Saturday night with a window table! Live the food, the service and price!
Celebrating my parent’s anniversary at Gladstone’s was a disaster!!! When we arrived there weren’t many people dining which was strange for a Saturday. We placed our order, got a loaf of delicious hot bread and 45 minutes later were told by the waiter he forgot to put our ticket in. During that 45 min wait for our food, our drinks were never refilled. We ended up leaving and walking over to Parker’s Lighthouse. The service was superb and the food was delicious! I will never go back to Gladstone’s now that I’ve experienced Parker’s Lighthouse.
Our overall experience at Gladstones was positive. The restaurant is clean, the view is outstanding, & the staff is very friendly. However, one of the servers (not the person who waited on us) tried to deliver someone else's food to our table two separate times! I don't know if he was new or just hadn't been trained well, but he seemed very confused.
The clam chowder was spectacular - I will definitely order that again. I ordered the grilled Shetland Salmon with the Caper Chardonnay Butter Sauce. However, my salmon came with no sauce & it was extremely dry. Very disappointing for the price. There's definitely room for improvement.
Thank you for letting us bring our Porsche’s down and park on the pier. 😎
The ambiance was great-great location and great staff! It has everything going for it except the food was lackluster and for the price customers are paying it should be a lot better.
Beautiful views and good service. Food is ok. Menu is not very descriptive. There is a separate vegetarian menu. Overpriced.
My friends love Malibu's Gladstone-- they were blown away by how much better the menu and restaurant were in Long Beach. I'm so glad we dined there!
The king crab special on Friday night is phenomenal.
The fish and chips were over cooked. The Caesar salad was made with lettuce that was not crisp and fresh. Atmosphere is wonderful and service was fabulous.
To be frank we were disappointed . The other three restaurants we visited were much better. The server was hardly around. He opened the bottle of wine and never checked on us. We did our own serving. That should not happen with a restaurant of your reputation and price. The food was average and overall it was just plain mediocre. Not worth what we paid. Sorry we were disappointed and this was one of the three we chose to eat at in our stay in Long Beach.
Had been cautioned by a friend who had dined here a week before that he did not have a good experience. Guests from Arizona wanted to eat here so we gave it a try. The clam chowder was lukewarm at best. They ran out of buns for the lobster rolls so they offered Hawaiian sliced bread or plain white sliced bread! We were all very disappointed. Did not appear to have good management oversight. I won’t be returning.
Was Father’s Day business is expect however they ran out of silverware which was eventually received as our food had arrived. Our server was not very hospitable or welcoming. He also never ask us if we would like coffee or how our meal was. At this point the crowds subsided. To say the least was not a warming welcoming feeling.
We went here for Father's Day lunch. My crusted Halibut was plain, my husband fish and chip was ok, however the coleslaw was old. My daughter's grill cheese sandwich was eatable. The manager was very great tho. He check on us couple times and told jokes. The waitress was really nice too. Hope the food will improve bc we love the staffs.
The lobster Mac and Cheese was delicious. They had a very small brunch menu - about 4 items.
We like to sit outside because the view is spectacular you can see the queen mary, the boats floating by, and the service is really good.
It was a good experience, good food and the service was great.
Went on a Friday for Crabby Friday. Totally worth the money. Great service and a beautiful view
