As you move towards the main dining room, the open kitchen sets the stage for classically prepared dishes incorporating local ingredients with a creative global palette. Our Chef uses the best quality fresh ingredients that are seasonally available.
Into the main dining room, you will be seated in spectacular dining space with vaulted ceilings. Knowledgeable wine aficionados and the uninitiated both thrive in the selection from our wine cellar including a dozen wines by the glass. Friendly, professional service will delight all of our diners.
Our private dining room on the second level offers a customized experience to please any group or function with seating capacity of over fifty.
We love the globe bistro, we have been going for years. I would say it is showing it age a bit, some of the chairs need recovering. The food was very good, service, good, and after them seeing my sadness after not having any fries, they bought me some!
I would definitely recommend.
Totally enjoyed our Friday lunch with excellent fare well priced and prepared. Found it a little chilly when first seated, staff’s excellent response by turning up heat and moving us to an away from door location was appreciated. English sticky toffee pudding was scrumptious.
Always a reliable eatery...service always very good...food very good.
Excellent meal, excellent service, great environment would highly recommend.
We have been to the Globe Bistro 3 times now and have enjoyed it immensely all 3 times. Their charcuterie board is excellent. I had the cod and my guest had the steak for main courses and we both thought we would order the same dishes again. There is Green P parking behind the restaurant which isn't that convenient but it's a nice walk. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant.
We enjoyed the food very much. The service is friendly. The lighting isn't good. Many people at tables needed to use their cell phone flashlight to read the menu.
Great service and food. Not rushed at all.
Always a good choice for something different and special. Try the cauliflower and Kimchi. Sounds weird but truly amazing tastes.
It's a rare pleasure to find a restaurant in Toronto when you can hold a concentration in a normal voice. This was 1 pm Sunday afternoon but the Globe Bistro is sensitive to this requirement. Two of us ordered the omelette which was beautifully cooked (no hint of brown) and stuffed with wilted spinach and red onion with a melted layer of cheese. Delicious with the crunch of the onion. This with a thoughtfully dressed salad was perfect! Unfortunately the desserts were wanting.. I ordered a deconstructed cheesecake which was unsatisfactory - extruded pureed filling and pureed drops of sweet apple sauce along with a sugary "pie crust" sprinkled over contained no contrast between sweet, neutral and tart which is possible with a cheesecake. My friend had the chocolate torte which looked very tough to penetrate with a fork. She was not impressed. At $10 there needs to be a revision of the dessert menu. But the main course was well worth it, there were many thoughtful touches in the service. Bravo Globe Bistro.
I recently had brunch with a friend at Globe Bistro and we were very happy with our experience. Good service, generous portion and the food was delicious. The atmosphere is quite pleasant, and although a large group ended up sitting beside us, we were still able to carry on our conversation without straining to hear each other. While the menu was relatively brief, the items they offered were well selected, with a good variety of sweet and savoury dishes. There were also options to meet various dietary needs. Overall, we really enjoyed our brunch and would definitely return if we are in the neighbourhood.
Although I have enjoyed the ambiance, food, and service in the past, the Globe Bistro was a recent disappointment. It was far too noisy in their rear dining room as they are allowing teenagers with little respect for adult patrons to become loud and obnoxious. Loud guests should be seated in the front dining area which is more casual. The rear dining room, which has traditionally been reserved for more sophisticated clientele, has deteriorated. I personally had to quiet down a group of rowdy patrons. I was with guests from out-of-town and it put a damper on what, otherwise, should have been a relaxing evening of dining with good wine, good food, and good conversation. I will be looking to patronize some other restaurants in town such as Le Paradis and the Museum tavern (across from the Royal Ontario Museum) which my friends have recommended.
Thank you for your feedback. And thank you for the positive comments on the food and wine. Regarding the ambiance, I am sure that you can appreciate that we will always do what we can to ensure everyone's enjoyment. We certainly could have made changes or suggestions if you had brought it to our attention. Thank you for your patronage.
We came across Globe Bistro, completely by chance. It was across from the Danforth Music Hall, which was our primary entertainment target for the night.
We had no expectations for our visit to Globe. We simply wanted to grab a quick dinner, and then head off to the show.
To our surprise, Globe scored a 5 in every evaluation category. Everything was simply great!
Having been a restaurant supplier for 35+ years, I can be a pretty tuff critic. But I never tire of telling the world when someone does a great job.
Hopefully this review is helpful, and that your visit is every bit as delightful as ours.
Food was very good, I prefer sitting in the back which is a little quieter. Service was good, prices good. Overall it was a very enjoyable meal
Food was absolutely delicious! Server was attentive. Loved that we were able to bring in our own wine. Could have used different dessert options, but I'm sure they rotate. This was our first visit to Globe. We will definitely go back.
Welcoming and that set evening off to great start. The experience was excellent. A properly handled slight delay in one course was so much appreciated. Will return soon.
We go to Globe on Sundays regularly for their fabulous brunch and half-priced bottles of wine. We love this spot, the service, the food... it's an absolute gem.
This was our second time at Globe. We had the 5 course tasting menu which we would recommend to everyone. The food was awesome!!!
Food was amazing. Roof patio was perfect for a meal on a summer night.
Delicious meal and impeccable service and Sundays is half price wine. What boils be better.
Our server (Becket I think his name was?) was FABULOUS - very, very knowledgeable, joked around with us, was incredibly attentive, and deserves recognition for being all around awesome. The food itself was also amazing - we got the paired chef's meal, with many different courses, and every single one of them was outstanding. This is our new 'celebration' meals spot!
Lovely place great food super service ...wish the Hornets were not plentiful on terrace but another time to try.. I'll be back!
Our food was delicious. We had three different plates for brunch and loved all of them. The staff were welcoming and great.
Food was hit and miss. Starters (green salad, scallops) were decent, for what there was of it. Very little value considering salad was simply green leaf lettuce and scallops were 3 mini pieces... good flavour though. Mains were better - cod was excellent, barbecue plate was tasty though a misnomer as it was deep fried wings, pan fried sausage and smoked pork.
Server was obviously new to the industry and it reflected in his service.
Overall poor value, wouldn’t return.
Great service and very tasty and interesting food choices. Portions not large. Patio is the best choice but other parts looked good too.
Fantastic patio! Beautiful summer evening, will definitely be back for a drink if not for another meal. Food was nice, but the setting was perfect for a breezy evening.
We enjoyed dinner & cocktails al fresco @ Globe Bistro’s rooftop patio - what a lovely spot! An oasis in the city - and a delicious meal. We loved the birthday cake ice cream sandwich for dessert!
Hadn’t been for lunch before, only dinner. Lunch was perfect! We are so lucky to have the Globe Bistro in our neighbourhood! We had the Chef’s plate which was pork loin and we paired it with the Malivoire Pinot Gris. We sat at the front of the restaurant and people watched, the front windows were open, it was a delightful Friday lunch.
As a long time customer of Globe Bistro our family has never been disappointed with the quality of the food, service, and ambiance.
Great food. Great service. Great ambience. Very professional staff. One of the quiet places in our neighbourhood. They treated us well on our anniversary. Thanks for a great evening.
We had a great brunch! The staff were very attentive to the 2 children and made us all feel welcome.
Delicious food presented beautifully, great service and patio!
Checked out Globe Bistro for Summerlicious 2019. The service was fantastic, as staff were very attentive and kind. For apps we had the elk tartare, which was tasty and the shrimp fritters, which were also tasty but a bit on the oily side. The steak was a bit small and cooked medium-rare, although it was a bit dry. The cajun chicken legs were tasty, a bit fatty though and we didn't really enjoy the grits. Dessert was probably the weakest of the three courses. Not sure what the regular food items are like, but for Summerlicious it was all quite mediocre.
It's a bit pricy for what you get. There was only 11 server waiting on the tables for the whole patio level so at times you have to wait for service.
Love this neighbourhood gem. Staff are always welcoming and attentive. Love supporting a local business that supports other local businesses. Also fully accessible washrooms on main floor which is difficult to find.
Sat at a dirty table for 30 minutes. It took an hour and 45 minutes to get a dinner that was wrong and then an uncooked one as the fix. Terrible.
Average at best
Server was great!
Our waitress told me that the burger was decedent and she was bang on, OMG !!! delish !!
All apps were fabulous as well (Cauliflower and Oysters) and Oysters were part of Happy Hour and ha;f price !
The Cod was also well worth it, and it was hard to choose an entree because a few others looked great as well. Would love to go back and try.
Sat in the front area but took a peek at the back, very cool and comfortable looking.
All and all, a great dining experience
Great atmosphere, with friendly service. IMO drink service could have been quicker, I would have been more inclined to stay if it had. Music on the patio could have been much louder, I don’t like hearing other people’s conversations, nor do I like them to hear mine. Food was great aside from the server not taking temperature for my Duck Breast, which I would have preferred to be cooked longer. Also the bottom of the tables on the patio are filthy, watch your knees!!
Overall we had a good time.
Always a great place.Friendly and good food.Lots of variety for people with various tastes
