Everything was great. Only complaint was we were sat up front by the open kitchen which is very noisy and made it hard to chat. In the future will ask to be seated further back, away from the kitchen.
Initially we were seated upstairs (despite there being room downstairs) and were the only diners in an empty and untidy room. We were moved downstairs but were seated next to the door which was opened continuously by delivery drivers collecting takeaway orders. People arriving after us with no reservation were seated at better tables but we didn't feel we could ask to move again. The Sancerre we ordered was unavailable and the replacement was a Sancerre rose from Marks and Spencer. The food was good and the staff were happy to cancel our main courses but the atmosphere means we wouldn't return.
It's gone down hill. Stale food, cold and noisy. The noodles were not fresh, the dim sums falling apart, the spring rolls burnt.
Food is average and overpriced
Excellent food as always
This experience was great I enjoyed the ambiance and the service .
Toilets were cleaned .
Quite aggressive service, for no apparent reason. Even though the place was mostly empty, they seemed in a great rush, almost chucking the food and drink at us. Veg spring rolls were heavy and not at all good, although main courses were fine. Overall a rather unpleasant, almost hostile, experience, Will never go there again, even though it is local to us.
Although you made the booking the restaurant was
Not open when we got there
The best chinese! Love it! We had duck and spring rolls for starters, absolutely lovely. Then had chilli chicken (my fav), chicken fried noodles, egg fried rice, and beef and black bean sauce. 5 stars.
The food is decent and the service is fine. My only complaint is that if you are going to have still water available on all of the tables when diners arrive they should be made expressly aware that it’s £4 per bottle, or better just provide jugs of tap water for free!
We went to Goldfish as family of 4 with two kids. We had a reservation. Upon arrival we were told that we had to leave the table within 1 hr. Then they gave us a table and let us there for 15 minutes without nobody asking whether we wanted to have drinks, etc. The waitresses were displaying very poor behaviour and were not helpful when we asked for something slightly off menu. To be honest there are better places where to eat Chinese in London.
Very good Chinese restaurant
Our table was a bit noisy, being right next to the kitchen. Some dishes were fabulous, the scallops and the aubergine were out of this world.
Nice service, bit pricey, but tasty. We will return.
A Monday lunchtime is probably not the best time to go to this restaurant. However, the food was very good as was the service. The only drawback is that much of the food is cooked at the front of the restaurant which was where we were seated. As the place wasn't busy it might have been better to have seated us away from the kitchen. However, I'd happily eat here again if I find myself in Hampstead.
could off been placed in a better seating, i was right at the front!!
The food is always good but it’s so noisy because of the kitchen that you can’t hear anyone on your table, the wok burners firing up every couple of seconds
Excellent Birthday dinner. Everything was fresh and delicious. Can't wait to go back.
Surprisingly good dim sum for the price and location. Staff were prompt with the ordering. Spinach and prawn and fennel and sea bass were favourites, also yummy char siu!
Limited menu, good food, very noisy and cramped. Very expensive for a mediocre ambience and ok food
Delicious food and excellent service. Will definitely be returning!
A slow start to the service (drinks took a while to arrive) but after this things picked up and food was excellent
The food was a notch higher than many Chinese restaurants. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will go back.
Delicious, fresh food - but overpriced. And they push the wine too much - turning it upside-down into your glass, asking several times if you want more wine, asking if you want a second bottle before you've finished your first. And the Pinot Grigio was very ordinary. I think the prices are inflated for what it is. But you will eat well, and the food is very fresh with gorgeous vegetables and excellent service.
Me & my partners favourite spot!
The best quality food and great service.
Exquisite food, speedily served. Helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere.
Food was fab. We had the Timeout offer for unlimited Dim Sum but were disappointed to be told it was our last order, 15mins before our time was up... was a bit rude to be honest.
This restaurant has moved across the road and seems now 100% focused on take away service, there is no ambiance and the door is always open as the take aways are taken in and out so cold and drafty
Food is outstanding. Wish the decor matched. Still great value
Lovely Saturday family lunch. The woman on the table behind us was even kind enough to take one of the twins off our hands for a minute.
Never disappoints. Good quality food!
Tasteless poor quality food ,little variety in Dim Sum Buffett, mainly prawns and fried chicken.Never to be repeated!
Lovely! We had a lovely Sunday lunch last weekend.
Thank you Maggie and the Goldfish team!
The food is really authentic and excellent in taste and presentation. The decor is not very impressive but don't be put off by that. Service is very good.
You cannot fault the food in this establishment - the staff are very efficent and friendly - we were lucky and had a table at the other end of the kitchen because it was very noisy around that area and anyone sitting right opposite the chefs would have a problem I would think . All I would say is that the decor really needs attention - it would not take much to give it the restaurant a good spruce up - it 'feels' grubby especially the toilet area.
Interesting well cooked food in a nicely decorated restaurant.
Great food served efficiently
We opted for the Sunday dim sum offer where we were brought a selection of dim sum for £20pp. We were immediately served with a variety of steamed dim sum which was all very nice. The service was pleasant and attentive as we were continued to be served. As we were finishing up, we started to notice that other tables were being served different dishes to us. For example, traditional fried dishes such as wontons and prawn toast, were being served to other tables. We got the bill and paid for our meal and we asked the waiter if we were supposed to receive fried dishes. The waiter said we were and she offered to get us a manager to speak to. We waited for around 10 minutes but no one came over.
Overall the food was very good but we did feel a bit cheated out of the full experience.
As always everything was amazing! If you go here you must try the sweet & sour chicken.
The staff are very polite & always look after you.
I will be back soon! Many thanks.
Nice food, but small portions and a bit too expensive for a neighbourhood restuarant.
