Gow’s Restaurant boasts a plum spot right next to London’s Liverpool Street Station. Fittingly, for it’s City location, Gow’s is very much an old-school establishment where the champagne and oysters flow freely (actually, Gow’s also have an oyster bar right upstairs!). The basement hosts the main restaurant, specialising in fresh seafood and classic dishes. Starters include Colchester rock oyster or hand-picked cab with horseradish cream, while mains feature dishes like smoked haddock with poached egg and creamed potatoes; or a host of succulent seafood platters for sharing. There are also vegetarian and non-fish options on offer for those that don’t fancy seafood. The dining room at Gow’s Restaurant has a welcoming ambience, with its warm lighting, white linen and framed artwork decorating the walls. Delicious food, bisque to start was heavenly, catch of the day plaice with delicious seafood sauce and the house fish pie, expertly prepared/presented. Friendly unobtrusive service. Decor a little tired but lovely oak panelling. Reasonable prices considering location!

This was our first visit and we really loved it and will return. The service was excellent, friendly, informative but not intrusive. The noise level was perfect! at last a restaurant we can afford and we can talk!! Thank you!

Close to Liverpool Street station in the City, but not busy of an evening. Good bar upstairs and a quiet restaurant downstairs, in the evening, contrasts pleasantly with some of the noisier City venues for an evening out. Excellent for fish and oysters.

One of the last traditional restaurants in the City.....food is great, service is second to non....i am recently retired but when meeting my old City friends we always meet in Gows, no other place comes close in my opinion.

Service was the best part of the experience. Waiter was very professional and responsive.The Food was disappointing. I had cod and chips. Bland and tasteless.. sticky toffee pudding like a sludge.

Our table was booked for 5.30 as we were meeting friends later so the restaurant was not busy. Not their fault but it was a rather soulless room with no other diners. The food was OK but nothing special. Service was fine but then it should be with only one table to manage. I could not say if the place gets more lively later on so it would be hard to recommend it.

Second time eating here in past 2 months and really enjoyed it. Food is very good. Scallops excellent. I had fish and chips and the fish was perfect. The downstairs dining area lacks a bit of atmosphere, however this did not detract from the meal. On both occasions there were only 2 other tables all night, so not sure what that's about. Would recommend.

There was a slight mix up with our booking at the main restaurant was being used for a function. However the manager and staff were very helpful and soon arranged a private table with dedicated service. Overall an impressive performance

We arrived at 8.30 to be told the kitchen was closed and the chef had gone home No attempted was mad to contact us to let us know the restaurant was closing early So had traveled to the restaurant for total waste of time Very poor

Our meal was excellent and good value but the level of service on a very quielt day was poor - the time taken to serve the main course meant that my guest was put under time pressure to finish eating before needing to leave, despite allowing more than 90 minutes for a single course meal.

We went to celebrate a birthday with my boyfriend's family. I go to Gow's quite regularly for the Wednesday jazz nights. I love the relaxed vibe, classy food and fabulous service. I was very pleased to see that my guests enjoyed the place just as much. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food (amazing oysters!!), we were impressed with the wine list and to top it all of the life music was absolutely fantastic! Highly recommended!

I went to Gow's a couple of times two years ago, this is more like revisiting. The menu has changed so I didn't get what I aimed for. Food is decent and service always good. It is always quiet downstairs so good for conversations.

Definitely one of my first choices for business lunches if I want something near Liverpool Street Station. Great fish, good wine selection. Restaurant is down stairs from the bar/pub so don't get confused.

For a Friday evening, I was somewhat surprised to find that my friend and I were the only ones in the entire restaurant for the majority of the evening! Food was good, although we prefer our fish cooked a bit more which they kindly did for us. It just lacked ambience due to the lack of people!
