Permanently Closed - Grain Store
If you can't book a table online, don't worry! They do keep a few tables back for walk ins each day.
Saturday: 10am - 10.30pm
Sunday: 10:30am - 3:30pm
Food was good as always - the service was charming but erratic (three times had to wave for someone to take pudding order / bill).
However the worst thing was to put a table of mothers and babies right next to us - and the babies were very loud! Total insanity - if you want to attract people for business lunches, don't put screaming babies next to them . It was irritating and distracting.
Third time I've been to this normally excellent restaurant in a few months and, whilst I still like it, I am puzzled by the lack of attention to detail in this last visit.
It's closing for good today, 23 August 2017. The Grain Store will be much missed.
Huge thanks to the staff and chef Bruno Loubet for the years of great innovative cuisine in a most charming and welcoming setting.
Fantastic environment, very friendly and efficient service with excellent food, and some wonderfully innovative and delicious variations on taste.
Delicious food, lovely staff and a great atmosphere. Very sorry to see it close 😥
The food was great and we had a great time! Love the design of the restaurant as well
The menu was amazing - I wanted to order it all. Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented. So sad that we have only managed to eat there just before it is closing for good.
Wonderful space and imaginative menu. Food is great for daytime dining. Service was solid but not remarkable. Would definitely recommend and revisit.
Generally very good and vibrant. Overdoes it in fussy-ness and there is so much garlic hidden in every dish that it takes you 48 hours to resume your social life after a meal there.
Amazing starters and desserts - they were the definite highlight for us. Very sad to see this vegan and vegetarian friendly restaurant close at the end of the month : (
You can tell this place is closing down, the staff don't give much of a damn anymore. Food was very nice, good wine list, but receptionist was impatient and irritable when we asked to move us to another table. I didn't want to sit in a dark corner where the wall was covered in a massive piece of animal fur. Don't even understand why this is necessary? Anyway when we went back to reception it was handled very unprofessionally but then they found us another table.
Delicious food, great atmosphere. Going twice in a week. Sad that it is closing just as I had discovered it.
Great food and catered well for vegetarians
The food here has definitely gone downhill over the last few years. Service was friendly and its good value for money.
I booked the Grain store for my birthday dinner as they are closing at the end of August 2017 and I knew it would be my last chance to eat here again. I also know they have great options for vegetarians/vegans and true to form, the food was everything I hoped it would be. Beetroot ravioli for starters, mushrooms in a vegan XO sauce with herbed tofu and chocolate delice for dessert. Everything was fresh, flavourful and a reminder of how good they are at this kind of food. So sad they will be closing. They're short staffed as people try to find other jobs by the end of the month and so can't book to capacity but go if you get the chance.
I went to Grain Store with some friends and my girlfriend for a Saturday night dinner. We knew the restaurant was a bit on the fancy side, and as such the prices reflected this. But the service was very good and the food was spot on, so you definitely got what you paid for.
A very good restaurant, such a shame it's closing soon!
The food was excellent and creative. Nevertheless, the premises were a little bit too noisy...
Kid friendly, quite a long wait for food but very nice when it arrived
Underwhelming, quite bland food and very small unsatisfying portions. Over-busy staff.
Not much point reviewing Grain Store again as it is to close soon. It will be greatly missed as the most interesting and novel menu in Camden: not vegetarian but light on the meat and with excellent and adventurous options for vegetarians. I'd always expected Bruno Loubet to end up with a successful chain of such restaurants, but not to be. Go soon, try the Tricolor gazpacho and the pea mousse tart as clues to what his food is all about.
This has always been a favouite place to eat in this part of town as great vegetarian options on the menu.Sad to read this great place is closing down in August so this was last vsit.
Five of us catching up with a friend over from the Middle East.. so we wanted somewhere with good food and wine, and a nice buzz. Grain Store got a big tick all round. Inventive food with delicious vegetables and a nice big table with ringside views of the busy kitchen. Great staff too.. attentive, but not overwhelming. Congrats!
We had during our trips to London a lot of nice diners in the past few years, but this was a special one. great area, good service from only friendly people and on top a good dinner with sometimes strange combinations, a discovery and a must foor foodies going to London.
Always enjoy eating here and was not disappointed. The pea and Parmesan tartlet was divine
First time visiting and I must say it was a very pleasant visit. Staff were super friendly and really went out of their way to make it a special visit.
We sat outside and I think they were short staffed so we and all the tables around us had to wait and wait, to get attention of staff, to ask questions, get orders taken, to get anything additional and to pay the bill. Not great! Starter was fantastic and both mains were ok, promised more than they delivered. My friend had duck dish, I had mushroom and herb tofu, not up to much really, may have sat on the pass too long. Inside was certainly more buzzy, so that would be my preferred option in future. Would give it another try, but on this occasion, it didn't wow! Sorry.
Over priced. Had one main course & a side & paid £24. I've seen more inspiring pasta & lamb dishes on set menus for under £20. Food was very average. Not inspiring at all. Love the ambience & service. But I don't think I will be visiting Grain Store again.
I booked this restaurant for my boss who thinks its a great place for business meals as not too noisy and is good value.
I've been numerous times for dinner in the past, but this was the first time I went for brunch. We had a wonderful meal shared with friends. Great atmosphere, lovely waitress, delicious food!
we found the menus a little strange - some weird combinations, but it was tasty and fine for daughter and son in law who are vegetarians. We like the fact we were given a taste of the wine before we chose what we wanted.
I had a dish which included baked peaches which were hard.
It was lively with a pleasant ambience - a lot of echo though.
Service was good
We did consider it to be overpriced though for what we had, so can't really recommend it as value for money.
It was a busy day but the service was slow and my beetroot burger tasteless, casava chips dry.
I've been to Grain Store for birthday celebrations and had a wonderful 3 course meal, great service, and all round lovely dining experience.
However, after breakfast the other day I'm left feeling disappointed. The food we ordered wasn't specific to the menu, and for the price of the plate it made us feel annoyed that we were paying for food that we could have made at home. The staff and chef tried to explain themselves out of the issue.
Back for dinner and drinks, but perhaps not for a while...
My third time eating here (I come for cocktails occasionally as well), as this time for my birthday. We booked a group table in doors, but we're able to sit outside. The food was exceptional, as was the service. Highly recommend.
Really Poor service, overpriced and tasteless dishes. A huge disappointment.
good choice and interesting combination of foods .
lively place and fun people around
sitting outside on the patio and the plantings are really fabulous. very pretty
The staff quickly found us a lovely table in the sunshine and the food was delicious.
Wonderful food and very friendly service but the table staff were over-stretched so the service was rather slower than we would have liked. We should have had plenty of time but had to skip our coffees as one of us had to catch a train from KGX.
This is my favourite restaurant. I love the vibe, the creativity of the menu, the use of fresh and seasonal ingredients and also the location is great, Granary Square is a very funky spot, of late. They are amazing with catering for vegetarians with imaginative and delicious dishes. No boring risotto here! :)
Das Lokal befindet sich in einem aufstrebenden Viertel, in einem alten Getreidespeicher. Coole Atmosphäre, interessante Essenskombinationen. Gleichermaßen für Veganer, Vegetarierer und Fleischesser lecker!
Lovely service and food is imaginative and delicious. I had the duck and my friend had the hake. The duck was a very flavoursome, robust dish which was hearty. My friend had the hake which was lighter and very delicately seasoned. I got the impression that it would probably do with a little bit more seasoning. I had a lovely cocktail and we were way too stuffed for dessert so settled for a coffee. The last time I came the coffees came with a little slither of brownie which was delightful. The waiter told us it was something they have on the dessert menu but we were too full to even look.
It's not the cheapest restaurant around but the food is lovely. I would definitely recommend.
My husband and I were purchased a voucher, to eat here as a wedding gift. I'm a vegetarian and my husband is not. I often get limited choices on menu's when we eat out- consequently this restaurant was chosen for us due to it's wide and varied vegetarian/vegan options. It was a delight to find that I had as much of the menu (if not more so) to choose from as my husband!
We both loved our meals, very fresh and tasty.
A tip for visitors - ensure you have cash for a tip. They couldn't take a tip from us on card and there were no cash points in the near vicinity, so we sadly had to leave without providing a tip - which was humiliating. We've asked friends of ours, to drop in a tip next time they pass the Grain Store.
