Monday – Friday Lunch & Dinner
We had a lovely Sunday lunch here , food was very good and would definatley revisit . what a shame that we were sat with three separate families with small children one of whom cryed and screamed all through lunch and the other two families children had annoyingly loud video games that they were playing at the table . Most annoying !
Bloody Good Value for money easy booking via the opentable app which makes my life easier as I can just book and not speak to anyone over the phone. That way they can’t get your name wrong lol
Sunday Roast Beef I had it was lovely, friendly staff good service. I will definitely be going back another Sunday lunch
Excellent meal and service in very pleasant surroundings.
This restaurant was recommended by a friend and we must say, it lived up to the quality of the recommendation. We were greeted with a smile as we entered the restaurant. Our waitress was just wonderful. The restaurant was stylishly decorated and the chairs were very comfortable to sit on. The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. We both enjoyed our three course meals, we are now looking forward to our next visit, which will be for Sunday lunch. What a great place!
We enjoyed our meal and visit we're going back to work our way through the menu! Great service, great food, great venue.
Always an excellent Sunday lunch. Highly recommended
Really good and attentive service without being too overboard, very quick too. Food was delicious and beautifully presented, but if I had a criticism it would be that the portion sizes are on the large side - I could only manage about half of mine despite it being amazing, and couldn't go for a dessert. I guess we'll have to come back for that! And we would definitely come back.
Great evening, have been before but not for a while and thoroughly enjoyed it excellent food and service.
As usual a very tasty LUNCH, we had a lovely window seat and attentive service. We were so sorry that the lunch set menu is no longer available - it was perfect for us as the portions were smaller and it was such good value for money. Can you bring it back? However my friend opted for the small portion of fish and chips and I had a gorgeous smoked haddock fish cake with spinach, poached egg and chips. DELICIOUS!
Lovely food as always. Good atmosphere and service.
Visited on a Monday with family for our daughters birthday. Staff were helpful, friendly and courteous. The food was very delish and we thought good value.
This is a fab place for a relaxed lunch as the menu is reasonably priced with a good selection of dishes. The service was efficient but we didn’t feel hurried at all. The food was great and well presented. We enjoyed the lunch in this centrally located restaurant.
Overall, great value, lovely setting and nice food!
The two of us went here for my wife's birthday - it had been recommended. We had to change our reservation time, which wasn't a problem.
Staff were attentive but not intrusive, something difficult to achieve, didn't rush us, and were available when we needed them to be.
The food was excellent and the menu sufficiently varied to suit most palates. We started with mixed tapas, which we both enjoyed and followed it with (wife) fish cakes and (me) duck. My wife was feeling a little peckish so ordered from the light bites menu but doubled up without any problem. The triple cooked chips were excellent and the hollandaise sauce very good.
Coffee finished our meal off nicely.
The restaurant wasn't heavily populated when we went, but there were sufficient staff for our (and other diner's) requirements.
Overall, a very good dining experience. Prices not outrageous for the quality of the food.
Bar prices not too dissimilar to lower London establishments, but then the food is why you visit here.
Mothers Day Roast very nice but could have been hotter and bit mean on the potatoes. Tasters of dessert were to die for.
Really disappointed with the service we received. Over £100 worth of wine and the bottles were just dumped on the table, not even asked if the wine was ok, no glasses or cutlery on the table.
Really not good enough.
First time at the Green Room after the theatre in town. Really lovely, warm and inviting restaurant. Great atmosphere, staff are lovely and the food was really good. The Bakewell tart was to die for. Will definitely visit again. Recommended.
It was a very cold snowy evening when we ate in The Green Room, so was very quiet but the service and the food were very good. I hadn't visited for some time and was impressed with both the menu and the decor. I will definitely go back. It's so important to support independent restaurants, there aren't enough of them in Colchester.
Brilliant choices on a la carte menu and there was also extra choices for Valentines Day - which could be interchanged giving a really big selection to choose from. Cheerful, helpful staff made it a very enjoyable night out. Almost forgot the cold & wet outside!!
Visited for first time for Sunday lunch, was disappointing. The roast chicken was a drumstick and a small portion. Apparently they don’t do stuffing with it anymore! The veg was one small dish for 2 of us. Asked for roast beef medium but came out rare. Ordered desserts & tea/coffee but the hot drinks arrived way before the dessert. On the plus side the staff were good but a long wait for dessert. Another table there must have waited about an hour for their meal to arrive. We won’t be back, shame because the decor and staff were good. We did complain and they took the cost of the desserts off the bill.
Early dinner before theatre. Everything was perfect - staff even calm and polite when knocked over a drink. Definitely come here again.
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. I was accommodated and felt I had great service and the food was really lovely and great portions and great prices!
Staff really were exemplary and I cannot compliment them more highly! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience
We were catching up with old friends and having enjoyed eating with you before, were confident the meal would be good .We were not disappointed. The meal I enjoyed very much. The pheasant was beautifully cooked.
We were pleased with the service. Unfortunately the music was rather loud.
We look forward to returning soon when we can find a good excuse to indulge.
Many thanks to all the staff, kitchen and front of house.
Took my wife and daughter, with daughter's family, for a birthday lunch. The food was very good, the staff fabulous, and the whole affair was a success. I make special mention of the very fine Corbieres and recommend it.
We were a group of 8 for a Saturday lunch, service was fantastic and so was the food! Would highly recommend the burger :)
Really nice setting for a casual lunch. We had a baby in the group and the staff allowed us to use a hotel room for baby changing - very accommodating!
Reliable Offering in good surroundings close to town centre. Service friendly
Most amazing steak salad, flavour and the way it looked was incredible. Staff pleasant. Nice setting too. Overall a really nice date. Went a little above hat we usually would price wise and was so worth it.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent food and well-presented. Great selection of beers and wines. I can not fault this restaurant one bit.
Lovely lunch with friends, everything was great as usual!
Very good food, but service a little slow and lacking in attention to detail. But very comfortable and enjoyable for an early evening meal.
Went for a date night, excellent food and wine. Pork ribeye was amazing.
Had a very relaxed wife's birthday meal - food was lovely - other than the Christmas menu there was a small but nice menu on offer.
The four starters for £12 was a nice touch..The fig and the quail eggs was lovely !!!
Everything was lovely the house red was nice and the bill at the end was fine.
I asked for flowers for my wife as a surprise that even though they were roses as it looked as it was an after thought, the one downer on the evening.
We were conscious that the previously short and interesting menu had been broadened out over the past year with an inclusion of steaks and brochettes. There is also a light bites option. It was previously a special place with food bordering on fine dining but it was now down a notch. We were, however, pleasantly surprised. Between us we had the pheasant and the duck - both of which were well presented and excellent. It is clearly looking at a different type of offering but still good. The service was excellent though the staff were very young and inexperienced
It was my Mum's birthday and I wanted them to make it special for her but they didn't. We had to ask to place our order and service was very slow. I had emailed before to say it was her birthday but they didn't acknowledge it at all.
First visit and definitely happy to return. Friendly and relaxed. Excellent service and good to have iced water with lemon brought without the need to ask. Also delicious bread and dipping oil whilst waiting for starters to arrive.
Booked table for 5.45 asked if we wanted to have a drink before meal which we did went to our table ordered but found service seemed quite slow as at time restaurant was empty we waited quite a long while for food to arrive meal was ok but didn’t seem to be much atmosphere maybe this was because there was nobody else eating and staff seemed sparse however the restaurant is very nice and would probably use again
My last visit was with two old friends. The meal was excellent as always and my two friends, qho had not been there previously, spoke very highly of their visit.
Lovely as usual - elderly Mums birthday. Good food and friendly service.
Ladies that lunch. Nice ambiance, good value for money & our fish & chips were served piping hot. Excellent!
I ordered leek and potato soup,it was grass green in colour, thin and totally lacking in the flavour of leeks. I queried this with the waitress wondering if they had made a mistake after speaking to the chef she informed me spinach was added to make it green. “What if I was allergic to spinach” I asked, she ignored me and walked away. It tasted okay just not of leek and potato.
The main course,a very nice ribeye steak, half of a one inch diameter tomato and one mushroom approximately an inch and a quarter diameter plus chips. Not much help with the five a day there. Very disappointing.
The fish cake main course my wife had was about the right size had it been a starter and the scollops she had as a starter were ok. Nice food but not enough of it. Nice restaurant.
Excellent food, great atmosphere brilliant value. Would recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
