Dissappointed service very slow had to ask for menus and for plates to be removed.
Food not enought veg or gravey
Bones in chicken beef had too much grisle.
Good food and good service. Nice decor, clean and tidy.
This was a really memorable evening at your restaurant with excellent food and wine, perfect service in comfortable surroundings. It would have been outstanding had it not been for an extremely loud party of at least 10 people seated behind us with one guy who must have traded in his voice box for a foghorn. Consequently at times it was hard to have a conversation. If possible such loud selfish parties should be seated away from the main restaurant area. This is not a complaint - just an observation
I've eaten here twice now and would have to say it's now my favourite place to eat in Colchester.
The food was adequate but not tasty. Our meal of 2 courses each for 2 of us plus only one gin and tonic at £48 was expensive, I thought. Only A La Carte was available.
Good food but all courses rushed. In and out in ninety minutes when I had wanted to take my time over eating.
The food was disappointing - I ordered Lamb steak which was so salty I couldn't eat it, my potatoes were underdone and the samphire was oily and very salty. My husband ordered pork wellington and was very overdone and the meat was very tough. I informed the staff and they were very apologetic, and I couldn't fault the customer service. If I was to visit Colchester again, I would probably try an alternative restaurant.
Had never been here before as looked very small from outside but definitely gets bigger once inside. Food was outstanding. We eat out a lot and this is one of the best places we have been for food.
Great tasting meal, Pork Wellington, was delicious. The menu was a limited as a number of dishes had cheese, which I am allergic to but otherwise great.
Good place to meet up with friends over food in the town
Amazing food and good service . Good value for money
Disappointed that menu was less to our taste than previously. My husband visited the facilities before we left and saw the specials board. No-one had mentioned any other dishes to us and it was unfortunate that I could have enjoyed a better choice if I had realised there was further choices available.
Good meal and service Cosy atmosphere. Liked having a round table so you can easily chat to everyone. The door was open so some traffic noise but it was a warm night
Enjoyed evening meals at The Green Room, have been before and would recommend. Staff courteous and efficient.
Great service from beginning to end. Excellent food, great value for price paid.
Will definitely be returning.
The Service Bloody Brilliant I don’t have to ask what I want for dinner as I put my order on the special requests.
Friendly Staff 100/100
Very slow service. Poor menu for warm weather, no salads. Always Chips and too many potatoes
Very nice, nice layout and good service, the food was lovely
We had a lovely Sunday lunch here , food was very good and would definatley revisit . what a shame that we were sat with three separate families with small children one of whom cryed and screamed all through lunch and the other two families children had annoyingly loud video games that they were playing at the table . Most annoying !
Bloody Good Value for money easy booking via the opentable app which makes my life easier as I can just book and not speak to anyone over the phone. That way they can’t get your name wrong lol
Sunday Roast Beef I had it was lovely, friendly staff good service. I will definitely be going back another Sunday lunch
Excellent meal and service in very pleasant surroundings.
This restaurant was recommended by a friend and we must say, it lived up to the quality of the recommendation. We were greeted with a smile as we entered the restaurant. Our waitress was just wonderful. The restaurant was stylishly decorated and the chairs were very comfortable to sit on. The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. We both enjoyed our three course meals, we are now looking forward to our next visit, which will be for Sunday lunch. What a great place!
We enjoyed our meal and visit we're going back to work our way through the menu! Great service, great food, great venue.
Always an excellent Sunday lunch. Highly recommended
Really good and attentive service without being too overboard, very quick too. Food was delicious and beautifully presented, but if I had a criticism it would be that the portion sizes are on the large side - I could only manage about half of mine despite it being amazing, and couldn't go for a dessert. I guess we'll have to come back for that! And we would definitely come back.
Great evening, have been before but not for a while and thoroughly enjoyed it excellent food and service.
As usual a very tasty LUNCH, we had a lovely window seat and attentive service. We were so sorry that the lunch set menu is no longer available - it was perfect for us as the portions were smaller and it was such good value for money. Can you bring it back? However my friend opted for the small portion of fish and chips and I had a gorgeous smoked haddock fish cake with spinach, poached egg and chips. DELICIOUS!
Lovely food as always. Good atmosphere and service.
Visited on a Monday with family for our daughters birthday. Staff were helpful, friendly and courteous. The food was very delish and we thought good value.
This is a fab place for a relaxed lunch as the menu is reasonably priced with a good selection of dishes. The service was efficient but we didn’t feel hurried at all. The food was great and well presented. We enjoyed the lunch in this centrally located restaurant.
Overall, great value, lovely setting and nice food!
The two of us went here for my wife's birthday - it had been recommended. We had to change our reservation time, which wasn't a problem.
Staff were attentive but not intrusive, something difficult to achieve, didn't rush us, and were available when we needed them to be.
The food was excellent and the menu sufficiently varied to suit most palates. We started with mixed tapas, which we both enjoyed and followed it with (wife) fish cakes and (me) duck. My wife was feeling a little peckish so ordered from the light bites menu but doubled up without any problem. The triple cooked chips were excellent and the hollandaise sauce very good.
Coffee finished our meal off nicely.
The restaurant wasn't heavily populated when we went, but there were sufficient staff for our (and other diner's) requirements.
Overall, a very good dining experience. Prices not outrageous for the quality of the food.
Bar prices not too dissimilar to lower London establishments, but then the food is why you visit here.
Mothers Day Roast very nice but could have been hotter and bit mean on the potatoes. Tasters of dessert were to die for.
Really disappointed with the service we received. Over £100 worth of wine and the bottles were just dumped on the table, not even asked if the wine was ok, no glasses or cutlery on the table.
Really not good enough.
First time at the Green Room after the theatre in town. Really lovely, warm and inviting restaurant. Great atmosphere, staff are lovely and the food was really good. The Bakewell tart was to die for. Will definitely visit again. Recommended.
It was a very cold snowy evening when we ate in The Green Room, so was very quiet but the service and the food were very good. I hadn't visited for some time and was impressed with both the menu and the decor. I will definitely go back. It's so important to support independent restaurants, there aren't enough of them in Colchester.
Brilliant choices on a la carte menu and there was also extra choices for Valentines Day - which could be interchanged giving a really big selection to choose from. Cheerful, helpful staff made it a very enjoyable night out. Almost forgot the cold & wet outside!!
Visited for first time for Sunday lunch, was disappointing. The roast chicken was a drumstick and a small portion. Apparently they don’t do stuffing with it anymore! The veg was one small dish for 2 of us. Asked for roast beef medium but came out rare. Ordered desserts & tea/coffee but the hot drinks arrived way before the dessert. On the plus side the staff were good but a long wait for dessert. Another table there must have waited about an hour for their meal to arrive. We won’t be back, shame because the decor and staff were good. We did complain and they took the cost of the desserts off the bill.
Early dinner before theatre. Everything was perfect - staff even calm and polite when knocked over a drink. Definitely come here again.
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. I was accommodated and felt I had great service and the food was really lovely and great portions and great prices!
Staff really were exemplary and I cannot compliment them more highly! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience
We were catching up with old friends and having enjoyed eating with you before, were confident the meal would be good .We were not disappointed. The meal I enjoyed very much. The pheasant was beautifully cooked.
We were pleased with the service. Unfortunately the music was rather loud.
We look forward to returning soon when we can find a good excuse to indulge.
Many thanks to all the staff, kitchen and front of house.
