The food here is always incredible and at a great value that’s hard to find anywhere else. Service was also very good. Grotto is consistently wonderful.
Was a great experience! Definitely going again soon! Thank you!
This is the new ultimate meal of our life! We went to this restaurant close to 18 years ago on our honeymoon but could remember the name. It became the standard by which every other meal would be judged. We would say, that is close to the Boston meal. We somehow found the place again, ate there two days ago ... and after our meal we said, this meal is now the new standard! You won't be disappointed.
My husband and I went during Restaurant Week. We had cavatelli and confit duck leg for appetizers, carne and wellington for entrees, and budino and tiramisu for desserts. We loved both appetizers, but the beef in both entrees was not impressive--it's not even better than our average cooking at home. The risotto that came with carne was really good though. I didn't like the tiramisu and the budino was quite average.
What an amazing restaurant week menu. Food and portions were incredible. The ambiance and decor are very romantic and give the feel of exclusivity. Had a phenomenal time.
Food was amazing! Can’t wait to go back
Excellent food, good service. Tiny little place. One of the best beef wellingtons around.
The food was amazing and the service was great. I would definitely return to this restaurant.
Very good food experience but was discouraged on how the place looked especially the quality of the restroom, very run down and unkempt
Had three courses and they were all amazing! I had the best Espresso Martini of my life and there was an amazing underground ambiance
Nice cozy restaurant in Beacon Hill, food was very good.
This was our first time at the Grotto and will certainly not be the last! The service and food were absolutely outstanding.
The escargot were the best I'd had outside of France and the Fra Diavlo was just the right amount of spice and al dente, with perfectly cooked jumbo butter poached shrimp on top. The bolognese was also fantastic. Finished with very well prepared deserts.
Service was friendly, prompt and attentive, without being overbearing.
Only negative is that the wine menu is quite limited, so I hope that will be expanding in the future.
Great place for date night.
We'll definitely be back!
The atmosphere was nice, though because it is a small restaurant, it seemed crowded.
Each of the courses were good but not great. Would not go back again.
Really delicious food and a lovely relaxing atmosphere.
Excellent restaurant. Will recommend for a nice atmosphere delicious dinner.
Grotto is one of the best Italian restaurants in Boston. Love their Garlic soup, Chicken Parm and basically any Pasta. Great ambiance with the exposed brick interior and perfect lighting. Makes for a fantastic dinner date.
Very good food and servers were extremely friendly.
Wonderful food, drinks, and atmosphere. Totally recommend if you are looking for a spot for an intimate and romantic dinner.
Unusual but very good presentation of chicken parmigiana, and the seafood fra diavalo was the best I have ever eaten. Super friendly staff. Restaurant was full (as full as it can be in times of COVID) and very clean and a warm, inviting and intimate space. Good selection of cocktails and wine. Such a nice treat!!
My wife and I went to Grotto for our fourth wedding anniversary. We ordered fondue and sweet potato ravioli for appetizers, beef Wellington, wild mushroom risotto and salmon fra diavolo for entrees, budino and ciaccolatto for dessert. Each and every item was absolutely cooked to perfection and on the money. The flavors were well balanced and seasoning was spot on. The only suggestion I would make is to make the pastry crust a little thicker for the Wellington and to not put the Wellington on a bed of reduction because it makes the bottom crust soggy. Also rubbing mustard sauce when the beef is warm will add more flavor to the Wellington. All in all it was one of the most satisfying dinners we have ever had. If you love Italian good this is as good as it gets. Definitely worth the price.
This restaurant is a little gem. Delicious food in an intimate setting. Good value as well.
Very hospitable our waitress was amazing gave us time for apps as well as not rushing you or the party. Will be back again
Love the food and the atmosphere. Great date site.
The food was amazing, as always. This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Boston, a true gem!
Great service and amazing food!
Server was excellent, helped me narrow my choices.
Loved the atmosphere.
Food was very good. Good value on prefixed
The food was excellent!!
We are from out of state and found Grotto was a short walk from the place we are staying at and decided it was a perfect fit since we are obsessed with Italian! Hands down, this was an AMAZING first impression of Boston cuisine and we recommend everyone to give this place a try. (BTW the brussel sprouts as a appetizer was to die for.)
We’ve been here many times before but this was our first visit during COVID and it did not disappoint. Same DELICIOUS food and romantic atmosphere. Felt safe throughout the experience. Will definitely be back soon!
Our New Year’s Eve dining experience at Grotto was amazing! My boyfriend and I got a romantic table in the corner, and received nothing but the best service all evening. The Caesar salad, Carne, and Bolognese sent us home happy and full of delicious food. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic date night or for a quaint dinner out with friends! I will be coming back!
Great location to celebrate our 20th anniversary! The food and atmosphere were excellent.
No need to travel to the North End for amazing Italian food. Grotto is pure perfection every time we are there.
2nd time dining here and once again did not disappoint. I was completely amazed by their garlic soup this time. Delicious!!!
Grotto is my fav restaurant in Boston! Amazing food and wonderful service and ambiance. So, so wonderful!
Intimate, cozy, delicious. Place is tiny, but a gem. Will certainly be heading back. Wes, our server was a cool dude!
Food is amazing!!!! Definitely coming back
Food was good. Service was good. The lighting was so dark, I could barely see what I was eating. While signing the check...we saw a mouse run across the dining room floor. Completely ruined our experience.
Amazing food. The duck confit was outstanding, as were the accompanying Brussels sprouts - and that was just the appetizer. Beef Wellington was so tender and flavorful. Everything was perfect.
