What you experience is the taste of traditional Indian home cooking, as my great grand mother would have made it.
Was looking forward to dining here, but left feeling underwhelmed. Service was adequate but some of the staff were far too self absorbed to be a credit to the restaurant, and others too inexperienced to be helpful. Food served on cold plates on a cold night not appreciated. Suggestion: please get a plate warmer, and a door curtain for the winter.
This was a farewell visit before the restaurant closes. Very sad to see it disappear although we are promised it will have 'supper club' occasions and the market stalls will be continued. Excellent food as usual and very friendly staff add to the atmosphere and intimacy of the venue. Hope to sample their ongoing ventures.
Brilliant place - all round. Unique food offer. It's difficult to find authentic Gujarati cuisine.
Love this place! Brought my friend for the first time and she really enjoyed it too! Will be back soon!
Very busy and not enough staff. Left after 25 minutes having only been given menus and a bottle of water with no glasses on that time
Have been multiple times but this last visit was pretty disappointing. Some of the food was good, some was really underwhelming. Service was extremely slow and inattentive. Doubt I'll return.
The food was excellent as usual. Restaurant was rather chilly and so we did not hang around after finishing our food. Would have liked to linger but too cold.
Food was excellent as always even though they've started doing set thalis. Unfortunately the service was very slow, sat down at 8.30 but didn't get our food till almost 9.30, even though it was a set menu.
Good value for money and delicious food so I'd recommend it if you're not in a rush!
Real shame it changed its format. Set meal now. Food not as good - but still good. Quiet but feeling empty compared to how it used to be. What a shame! We used to love it. But still worth a visit if local.
We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere was good.
I felt the service could have been more attentive and prompt. I will certainly go back.
Nice and comfy food just slightly overpriced! There is only 1 main dish on the Menu for £15.00 which is a meze with diferent little dishes. Extra flatbread £3.50 but expensive!
Overall good, been before and there was more food choices.
Such a lovely place - a hidden gem. Amazing food and great service. So delicious I have booked again immediately...
Good authentic Indian dishes, well cooked and presented.
The food was great and very tasty. the staff was super kind and made everything possible for us (family of 4 with two young kids) to find a nice table with plenty of room for the baby stuff. really recommended.
Always so good here - interesting take on Indian food and it’s all vegetarian. My parents who are meat eaters even love it and noted that they didn’t miss the meat at all. Lovely staff too.
Very pleased with the food here - very original vegetarian dishes with lovely flavour combinations. Will hopefully be returning soon.
One of my favourite spots in London, never disappointed
I HAVE BEEN TO GUJARATI RASOI ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS AND THE FOOD HAS BEEN EXCELLENT. THIS TIME - ALTHOUGH THE STARTERS AND PUDDINGS WERE GOOD - THE MAINS WERE JUST AWFUL. TWO DISHES OVERLY LIQUID-Y AND FAILING TO DELIVER WITH SUBTLETY OF FLAVOUR OR ANY TEXTURE. I HAD HYPED THE PLACE UP TO MY FRIENDS AND FELT QUITE SAD THAT IT DIDN'T DELIVER AS USUAL. HOPEFULLY THIS IS JUST A BLIP IN SERVICE.
They are pretty consistent over the years. Special flavours, friendly service. A bit of disproportion of value/size of dishes hence slightly overpriced.
The restaurant operates a limited menu but it changes regularly to prevent diners growing bored. Each dish clearly identifies how it might conflict with dietary requirements and staff were very knowledgeable.
We have been here many times and never disappointed. The menu varies, the staff are friendly, and the food is lovely and unique!
We had an amazing time and great food. Unfortunately, there was a group of people that were so noisy that it was difficult to hear my neighbour. It's of course not the restaurant fault, but people should be a bit more respectful of the other clients peace :)
Portion sizes frustratingly too small. This is especially disappointing taken into consideration the menu is vegetarian- and they are not trying to cover the costs of expensive cuts of meats. Whilst the food is good, and I would recommend, you feel robbed eating a bowl of sagg paneer when each 1.5cm cube of paneer cheese has cost you about £1.50. Shame!
Of all the Indian food London offers up, this has been, for the last 3 or 4 years, my go-to place for a delicious dinner. Took my brother, who lives in NYC, and he said it was one of the best Indian restaurants he's ever eaten in. I agree. Having travelled extensively in India i can honestly say this place, more than any over, reminded me of the delicious food i ate there.
It was our first time here and we really enjoyed the food and the pleasant atmosphere. We will be returning again in the near future especially as they have great vegan options.!
Excellent as always. Thank you! Early bird deal perfect for a summer's even and local theatre after.
Here on a Friday night. Good quality food with some interesting ingredients and good, if slightly over eager, service. Also a nice drinks list although it turns out an ‘Indian gin and tonic’ is essentially a mojito. Ambience was very flat. The main issue was the absurdly small portion sizes. You would probably have to spend £30-40 per head if you arrived hungry and wanted to leave full, making this three or four times the price of a lot of London’s South Indian restaurants. Maybe I’d recommend to go once to try it but I doubt I’ll be back with so many other better value options around.
Amazing as always. Delicious food, impeccable staff, vibrant atmosphere.
Very special Indian vegetarian food in a nice ambience!
Tiny portions and very expensive. A shame, as it was very tasty and given the main ingredients are vegetables it would hardly affect their overheads to make bigger portions.
Very nice food
well presented and delicious.
It has some traditional indian food with more modern influences.
Usual fine standard of interesting tastes, and although a little reduced in size in one area, still very satisfying
Food was delicious (highly recommended the saag paneer!), although slightly overpriced and service was very slow - they could do with one more waiter!
We love this place! The food is great and the atmosphere is too. They’re too popular for their own good, so it might not be the best option if you particularly want speedy service.
Food was good but service was so incredibly slow. Food took a very long time to come, half an hour just for snacks. Not sure if they were short staffed on the floor or kitchen but what was supposed to be a quick meal ended up being almost 3 hours.
Incredible food. Especially the kulfi. Worth a try if you are in two minds.
They only had two servers to seat, take orders, serve, and tend bar for the whole restaurant. We had dirty plates on the table for 35 minutes while we tried to get the server's attention to get the check.
Despite the service the food is incredible, and definitely worth it.
Fabulous food - the spices are just beautiful. Highly recommend it - best vegetarian food I have eaten in a long time
Third visit. Brilliant each time. My three friends loved it too. Tasty!
