Arrived, ordered drinks and checked in. Bar man a little short as we were 10 mins late , but it took him 5 mins to serve us. Had to be asked to be shown to our table where he didn’t communicate with us. Rest of our visit was exceptional. Waitresses were great food was fantastic

Great food, friendly and efficient service in a cosy pub that will make you feel like you've gone back in time. Low-level lighting and an outdoor area under cover will welcome you, and you won't want to leave. Table bookings for food is recommended but if you just want a drink, there's a small bar to welcome you as you walk in. The toilets are a bit of a squeeze, but is expected in an old building. The food was so tasty and hot, we weren't waiting long at all for it to arrive. Would highly recommend.

This is a very characterful pub/restaurant. Service was attentive and courteous but not overbearing. The food was fantastic with a good choice on the menu. We had the steak and ale pie which was delicious and the sticky toffee pudding deserves a mention, too! I will definitely book again when I next visit York.

Would recommend their signature dish, the steak and ale pie. It was very nice and filling. The staff were polite and friendly.

The Guy Fawkes is a cosy pub in the centre of York by the Minster. We were a party of three and ordered chicken salad, pie and mash and pea and shallot ravioli. The food was delicious and of a high standard. The service was a bit chaotic- although I had booked, we still had to wait for a table to become available, we were left without menus and didn't always feel well looked after. However the service staff were friendly when we were served our food. I'm not sure if we would visit again, although the food was good, we did find the prices quite high and the service could have been more efficient.

Absolutely amazing food. Highly recommend the pie and Yorkshire pudding starter. Limited on drink choice and make sure you book as it was very busy. Very traditional English pub experience.

My wife and I have enjoyed several good meals at the Guy Fawkes however this time was a disappointment. Our starters were taking ages and when we chased it up our starters had been forgotten. The mains were disappointing my Tandoori chicken burger was cold. My wife had the Steak and Ale pie which is her favourite menu item it was hot but seemed to not be as good as we enjoyed and previous trips. The tables need stripping and re-varnishing as the table tops are worn and flaking. I know it’s difficult to get staff and chefs these days however quality and reputation appear to be slipping at this once great pub.

We booked for 12pm and were given the option to sit where we wanted. We chose a table at the end of the restaurant closest to the beer garden as it is much lighter and a little more private. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The food was phenomenal. The steak pie really is absolutely worth it! A hotel/pub/restaurant steeped in history and chock full of character and period features. Like many of Yorks old buildings there is no room for a lift or a ramp so bear this in mind. There are about four steps into the building and the restaurant is on the ground floor.
