Went for Father’s Day lunch. Food was very very nice. We all had Sunday roast. Quality of food matched the price. Not he cheapest but good quality food 🙂
Had a lovely meal as a treat for Father’s Day. Great food and good service.
Wonderful and friendly customer service. Delicious food!
Loud music in the bar detracted from the ambiance of the place. Ok for a younger crowd but I don’t recommend it if you are looking for a quiet dinner.
Good food freshly cooked My husband was disappointed that the calves liver was on a bed of mash not bubble and squeak as stated on the menu
My duck was very good
No better place in York for food or service. Brilliant. Will most definitely be going back.
Fabulous food and terrific service . We had taken our friends there after last years visit and they enjoyed it as much as we did . The steak pie was to die for
Excellent food and atmosphere. Food of great quality and plenty of it!
We had our engagement party there as we have eaten here before and live in York. Pie was fantastic and the service off Michael Boag the front bar lad was also. 5/5 this is a must place to eat for anybody..........
thanks again for a fantastic day.
Historical ambiance with excellent food, we booked a table for 4 for a family reunion .We all ordered different menu choices and each one was served with quality and very tasty. The only criticism we all had was the lighting was too low to see our food but otherwise very good overall.
Absolutely delicious from start to finish. Very generous portions. The sharing platter was great value for money. Will definitely be returning.
Lovely atmosphere and interesting history, great for a nice meal at a fairly reasonable price. The bread, hummus and olives were delicious and the pork belly was beautiful, would have been nice if the skin on top had been more like crackling though. Good choice of ales on tap and nice wine. Service was fantastic. Will definitely be back!
Great place to relax and enjoy wonderful food. Look forward to returning.
Menu a bit disappointing: a few GF main courses, but no starters or puddings.
And mains were stunningly lacking in vegetables!
Lovely food, attentive and helpful staff. Reasonable prices. Great ambience and history. Highly recommended.
Fabulous food, excellent service and not rushed. Would definitely come back!
Very good home cooked tasty food that was excellent value.
Sunday 15.04.18 15:30pm
I had previously dined at the Guy Fawkes on Sunday 15th October 2017; it had been memorably pleasant. So I was looking forward to a return visit.
This time, less than one year later, the experience was underwhelming. The roast beef was chewy, the vegetables sparse; a small bowl to share between two.
The service was rushed, the staff constantly wishing to remove dishes from our table before the course was finished; the dining room was not at all busy.
This is a wonderfully evocative old building, so one would expect quirks. The Gent's toilet is small; but no loo paper?!
I would suggest that York is full of healthy competitors; you need to up your game.
This place from the outside looks like a quiet everyday pub but the food and service is nothing but everyday! Amazing place!!
Excellent quality cuisine, welcoming atmosphere friendly attentive staff . Would highly recommended definitely visit again.
A first time visit to The Guy Fawkes Inn on a recommendation from a friend. The experience lived up to expectations - thank you! A good hearty Sunday Lunch with gravy served separately which was appreciated. Sensitive, non-fussy attention from staff . We look forward to a return visit.
Disappointing, we had heard that the Sunday roast was excellent but when it came it was overcooked. The risotto had too much truffle oil on it, service wasn't great. We had trouble getting a reservation as it is always full but when we got there it was empty. Wouldn't recommend for food but can't say for just having a drink. Would go back to check out the bar.
Great atmosphere, steak was very well cooked. Great service, and overall fantastic value for money
Good was excellent, staff were friendly and attentive, really good experience all round
Staff were good, food was lovely, lovely small restaurant. My only problem was we booked for 7pm on a sunday and was only offered the sunday LUNCH menu ! when we saw two tables eating other things we did ask how come and was told they had pre ordered, mmmm im not so sure that two seperate tables and then saw someone else being given the full menu, if you are only serving sunday lunch then only do that , we were quite miffed . Nothing wrong with the sunday lunch was good , but out for a date and eating sunday lunch at 7 pm didnt seem right somehow......
Excellent food and service, especially being Easter weekend and staff must have been under pressure, but wouldn't have guessed, very enjoyable.
Lovely food and excellent service, great atmosphere and very friendly staff.Sunday Roast with the family, highly recommend, definitely worth a visit
hi great meal/experience and rating would have been better had they not run out of their signature dish pies
Lovely food, great table exactly what we needed! Table in the sun even though it was freezing outside!
Relaxing atmosphere excellent food and good value for money will be returning again soon.
The restaurant was small and quite cosy. The food we ordered was good, Fish and chips nicely cooked and cod chunk with risotto which was also nicely cooked and presented. The dessert menu was fair, the sticky toffee pudding though OK would have been nicer with either fresh cream or custard in place of the serving of ice cream. The cheese selection was excellent with a good varied portion to finish off a lovely meal. All in all a nice restaurant in a good pub with friendly and attentive staff. Would recommend and definitely return.
Everything was fine, with a great atmosphere. Food was really nice, and a good selection of ales. We'll worth a visit.
Fantastic food, great atmosphere, would definitely recommend!
Lovely old pub near to the Minster, thought the roast dinner was excellent value for the money. Good selection of beers. Service was good.
Went for a meal here on a Saturday Evening. We booked a table for 8:30 and arrived early to had a drink in the bar area first. It was nicely decorated and nice to sit for a chat. At 8:30 we moved through to the dining area which isn’t too big but felt spacious. We got some appetisers which were very tasty and when the mains arrived these were a good size portion and the food was of a high quality. I would highly recommend the Guy Fawkes Inn.
I love this pub. It's so cosy and when I went it was snowing - there was nowhere more perfect to be! The food is fantastic- you've got to have the pie - it's something else. My friend from London had the burger which was delicious but is still texting daily to say "I should have had the pie!"
Went for a romantic meal and thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the service. Well cooked, tasty and fresh. Would definitely recommend.
Meal with friends to celebrate a Big Birthday, service good food very tasty will definitely come again.
Great beer and the best steak pie in the country! And the icing on the cake is friendly staff
Stayed the night here, lovely room, breakfast and evening meal were extremely good, lovely friendly and helpful staff would definitely stay here again and recommend to a friend
