The food is impeccable as always. But the place is let down by the service - impersonal, inefficient, and above all slow. 20 mins waiting at the bar for our table, 20 mins at the table waiting for menus, 20 mins waiting for a waiter to take our order. So we had been there almost 90mins before the food started to come out. I cannot fault the food - inventive and delicious and worth the wait...I think.
Frankly I wouldn’t waste your money. For a fine dining experience it was bang average and hugely over priced
Would not recommend
We have been to Hakkasan a number of times and always have the most amazing experience with food, drinks and service. On Sunday we had the brunch deal and it did not disappoint. We had the most amazing duck salad to start and the dim sum was so tasty. The beef dish was delicious and the prawn dish, although a little too spicy for me ( I can't eat anything even vaguely spicy) my husband thoroughly enjoyed it. The chocolate dessert was rich and very enjoyable. The red wine included in the brunch deal was lovely and the cocktails were heavenly. Once again we had a wonderful time and will definately be back again soon.
Last visit very disappointing. We had been many times previously, especially for Dim Sum Sunday and had always found it very enjoyable.
This time, we were a 4, and unwittingly uncovered that the portion size for two of the courses (duck salad, desert) does not vary with your table size (even though price is per head) meaning we had to share between us tiny morsels otherwise prepared for tables of two. When we raised this with the waiter (having seen the table beside us have twice as much per person as they were two) they simply said this was policy to have the same amount of food for table sizes 2-4 on these courses.
We were quite embarrassed as our guests were large men, and that this was clear penny pinching from an otherwise very nice restaurant, that they did not rectify. A strange situation where if we’d book 2 tables of two we would have received significantly more food for the same price.
- needless penny pinching by expensive restaurant
- dealt poorly with the issue
Wonderful place to dine out with family and friends. Love the ambience. Well Done team Hakkasan !!
The food was fantastic even the atmosphere. Unfortunately, they missed out on service in the way that one of our dishes came much later than the rest of the food. They compensated us with a bowl of rice and an apology, not okay for a restaurant in this class.
Loved every minute of my meal at Hakkasan. Had the bamboo set meal which gave a great selection of dishes. The food was delicious through every course. I would definitely recommend to anyone trying the dim sum here. Quite a costly meal but definitely worth it when it comes to the quality you receive both in terms of food and service.
The food was nice however very expensive. The service was average.
We had a wonderful brunch tasting menu which also included 2 cocktails and half a bottle of champagne per person. The food was amazing as always, and all the guests enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant and the truly stunning decor.
We got the £38 offer that allowed us to have their signature dish with the beef which was lovely and a cocktail, which was also nice. The beef was yummy but the portion was quite small, the Berkshire pork was not anything special, it was okay. The dumplings in the beginning were nice, the vegan ones and the meat ones. The waitress was very friendly and very helpful, a German girl. None of the people working there seemed to be Chinese. I am just saying that as ten years ago when I had visited last time there seemed to be more of an 'Oriental' atmosphere, it was more young people working there now. There was a DJ playing and the noise level was definitely energetic.
Great food but we were slightly rushed from our table at the end of the meal which was a shame....
Fish dish was not fresh fish, I couldn’t eat it, beef average
Dim sum okay but can get much better in Manchester China town
Wine, 50 pounds per Carafefor 10 pounds bottle is ridiculous
As for the dessert, English school dinner pudding with a Chocolate top
A waste of my time and money
The ingredients were nice but fish quite overdone and dishes lacked excitement. Duck salad had nice texture but bland. Eggplant tofu dish needs more complexity and more sear on the eggplant. Service started out good but we were forgotten after our main entrees and for some time had difficulty flagging someone for our check.
Great meal at Hakkasan again
Great food, great ambience, great service
The food was a very fresh and tasty. The service was a bit slow but they were very good with the presentation and the cocktails were great.
Amazing restaurant and great food, however we had to wait over 1.5h for our main dish to be served hence only 3 stars for service.
Have been many times and have never faulted the food, service or ambiance. Highly recommended
The weekend brunch is amazing value! Champagne, cocktails and four superb courses (the dessert has really stepped up) for sixty quid!
The food was very good, however we were disappointed in the service. We ordered a set menu with a two hour reservation. We assumed this would either be timed properly or there would be flexibility with the timing of the booking. We had to wait 20+ min for our mains after the starters and before finishing we were told that they would need to bring out dessert as our reservation was coming to an end. We were even told that we couldn’t order a coffee to accompany our dessert even though we had to wait 10+ minutes for them to bring it out before being promptly shown out. Having ordered a set menu the timings should have more thoughtfully considered to avoid this especially for the price you pay.
Normally a fab experience but on this occasion waiter forgot one main & offered at the end. Also one wrong main given but we did not want to wait for it to be returned & replaced as the idea was to dine together.
Amazing weekend Brunch. Can highly recommend it. Will be back!
My husband and I absolutely loved the flavours of everything we ate! From the dumplings to the spicy prawns to the beef chilli pepper to dessert! Loved it! The set menus make life so easy 👌🏻
Booked for a business dinner at 7:15 but we were asked to depart by 9pm. I guess that's normal for a busy Friday evening. Struggled to find food I could eat on the menu and in the end ordered Beef Rib in jasmine tea which was dry and unappetizing. Luckily my colleague ordered a truffle duck - much better - and although he regretted it, he let me swap with him.... sigh, such a lovely person. The dim sum starter was ah-mazing. Would love to see more options for people who cannot eat spicy food (allergic to chilli). The meal was eye wateringly expensive but a very nice treat.
Staff were not interested.
Place looks a bit naff and dated.
Food was dreadful in places. Sweet and sour pork was particularly poor - gloopy, sugary, neon red. Onions/peppers not prepared properly.
Expensive, and constantly trying to up sell.
Waiter recommended a white wine that cost £18.50 for a small glass!
Will never return
Fantastic as always.
Fab as always
Good location, superb ambiance. Very good service and food is excellent (ate from the Bamboo menu). Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again.
This is our favourite restaurant in London. Great food and atmosphere. Quite expensive but well worth it.
I was expecting something more for some reason. The food was good but nothing special for the price, the service was a bit slow even though they were not busy.
Big fans of H but I have to say this visit (we have been coming for years) was disappointing. The service was very slow and haphazard. And some of the food once we actually got it was barely luke warm. It’s expensive and there are lots of places where service is exceptional for this price. Please don’t get lazy H! Food, when hot, still stunning.
Overall very , good , lighting could be a tad brighter , Food, service fantastic . I don't if the service charge at 13.5. % is the norm in London , as I am from up north !!, But I feel 10% suffice.
Food excellent,HOWEVER the stairs are a death trap!i very nearly had a horrible tumble coming out of bright sunlight into very dark staircase.inly lightening reactions saved me!!!
Be warned and take yr time and NB Hakassan
It was horrible, service wasn’t great... food had no flavor... I kept asking for more water or another drink.. I had to ask for sauce with my meal 3 times.
Lindo lugar, gran ambiente , poco caro
The staff are very accommodating and the service was up to standard. I would dine at Hakkasan again soon.
Outstanding service, went for the tasting menu and the chef surprised us with a written message.
We had previously eaten here 8 years ago and found the menu is not very flexible. We originally wanted to order a fairly common type of Chinese lunch with some dim sum, vegetables and noodles but the menu isn't structured for picking dim sum.
Sunday Brunch turned out to be the most cost effective method. However 2 of us in our party don't drink alcohol, reducing the value of the set menu. In the classic set menu, duck salad and steamed dim sum were tasty. There was too much baked dim sum in the meal which was very rich/oily. There were only two choices of main courses spicy prawns or beef. Both of which were too peppery or spicy for us.
Finally, service was very slow considering it was a set lunch: it took 2 hours in total.
Amazing food and atmosphere
My favourite restaurant ever. Must be my 20rh visit over the past 5 years. The food quality never fails to exceed my expectations. The service is impeccable. The decor ambient. I just love it
