We enjoyed a quick lunch here. The food was good and the atmosphere was fabulous. We had a large table and they were able to accommodate us easily.
Location was easy walkable.
They had a variety of beers and were happy to let us sample before choosing.
Food gorgeous; waiter friendly efficient and helpful. Had email on previous day to check we were still coming. Would have been nice if they had told US dining room would be closed. Sat downstairs on small table (initially with low armchairs). Unimpressed, why go to trouble of booking. Sort your act out management ; you're letting your food and your lovely staff down!
Always good quality pod and service. Lots of choice and good wine list.
Pity, no best bitter, no beef burgers, not sure how this happens with a brewery owned resturant
A lovely meal and staff were friendly. Will be visiting again soon.
This might be unusual, but I feel like the food came out too quickly. It was with us within minutes of ordering. I was expecting to order and then relax with a drink before the food arrived.
Waiters & waitresses seemed like they were trying to hurry us out of the door, despite the restaurant being fairly empty.
The food quality didn't quite match the price point.
Dined here a couple of times previously & must say it was outstanding.
Apart from the service the food itself & menu choice was disappointing especially in view of past meals.
The starter (mushrooms) was awful, very chewy - soaked toast & a sauce that was unsightly.
My veal was presented very well, but sadly tasteless, and had the same mushrooms & sauce as my starters to my dismay!
My wife's meal (duck breast) however was very tasty.
Desert was very nice. Excellent Sauvignon Blanc & an excellent waitress service.
Third visit here yesterday lunch time in a short space of time - all four of us loved every single thing about it EXCEPT Vegan shepherds pie - so very very disappointed with it, it had very little seasoning a whole mass of lentils with minimum kale tomato or mushroom. Tasteless. Disappointing. Made me a bit sad. Will come back but maybe more for coffees rather than meals.
We went for a Valentines meal. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food and drinks were good
I was really looking forward to hall and Woodhouse because I’d been for drinks lots of times and it’s really nice inside. However the food was a bit of a let down, we booked for 3pm on a Sunday and so we were informed roasts would be so late and that was fine, but the lunch we did have was just a bit disappointing. The salad my mum ordered was so far from what was stated on the menu we actually complained, the staff were great about it apologising and saying it was not to standard. She then ordered something else on the menu and it was fine but it just wasn’t as good as expected which was a bit disappointing.
Lovely restaurant with good staff, but poor food 😔
The evening was ok. Lady serving us was lovely. Disappointed you had ran out of items.
Not much atmosphere as quite empty.
Food was great, lively atmosphere however we had only been sat for about a minute before 3 waitresses tried to take our order. We felt very rushed as if the staff wanted us to eat and go.
If you like fresh fish stay away!
If you like that extra taste and smell of fish that should have been cooked a couple of days ago this is the restaurant for you!
Especially if you like customer service with a smile, apparently the fish was fresh out of the freezer that morning!
Why should I complain
Fabulous! Best restaurant in Bath. Can’t wait to come again!
The staff we’re amazing, genuine (which you don’t usually get) and just lovely! Thank you to all the staff that served us. You have a great great team!
Lovely ambience very good fast service, witressses very polite and happy ,eager to please. The Sunday Lunch was good with ample portions well presented.
Stunning restaurant. Staff we're very friendly but took rather a long time to clear table in between courses. Starters were lovely, ordered a medium/rare ribeye steak for my mains bit came put cold and pretty much blue. Waiter was apologetic and took it off the bill but still frustrating.
Desert was lovely
The soup was very nice and a nice large bowl.My husband and I had the chicken and mushroom pie but was a bit dissapointed with the amount of chicken it was very runny.
A bit noisy but enjoyable catch up with sisters.
Great to know that the restaurant menu is the same as the bar menu!! Making it a great selection for all, and easy for those not so hungry.
My friends and I were catching up after Christmas and new year. We have been to hall and Woodhouse on several occasions for lunch the food has always been good and if an extra friend comes along as happened on Thursday it is not a problem. We have already booked for March.
Fantastic meal and our service was spot on and our waiter was very helpfull .. there everytime we needed him but not in your face
Lovely place and great atmosphere.
Our waitress was great and was really helpful.
Good value for money too.
Food was good - portion sizes were slightly small, and I’m not a massive eater. Couldn’t fault service, our waitress was lovely and very helpful
It was freezing cold and everybody had to wear their coats. Staff said they could do nothing about it.
This is not good enough.
We had a lovely lunch.
A lovely evening with Freinds. Good food. Good ambience. Will be back soon.
Food was poor quality and was not cooked well. Way too much salt and meat over cooked
Went on two separate occasions one day after the other. First day staff and food pretty good, second day, food ok but service dire & in our view unprofessional. Disappointed, irritated with staff attitude, and definitely won't be returning.
Really disappointed that the Vegetarian / Vegan option was off the menu. Ordered it having come because we liked the sound of the meal, but the waitress came back and said they were out.
Had to go with a goats cheese salad instead. Complete rip off!
Restaurant allowed lots of space for each table, affording the right mix of intimacy and company. Staff were knowledgable and friendly and were attentive without being pushy.
The food was terrible. I was served off fish and hard bread. Would not go back. It’s a shame because the food used to be of a far higher standard.
Nice big pub/food venue. Interesting decor but possibly lacking enough seating. We were there in December so didn't experience the roof terrace. Should be great for the warmer months. Food ok but not exceptional. Very pleasant staff who seem well trained and efficient.
Lovely venue amazing cocktail and food was very good a few things were not available on the menu but steak was very good
We always aim to go out for a Christmas Eve meal and this year was no exception. As we were spending the Festive period in Bath we carefully chose H&W due to fine choice of courses and we were not disappointed.
Our waiter (SAM) was particularly attentive and very engaging and throughout the course of our evening spent time chatting to us about his studies in Glasgow.
Food was excellent quality and good value and as we were splashing out a bit given the time of year, we chose a decent Shiraz to go with it. Lovely it was too!
Thanks to the staff who looked after us and especially to young Sam. Happy new Year,
Ruth and Paul S x
Two memorable dinners enjoyed with friends over the Christmas 2017 period. Good food and cider/beer quiet enough for lively conversation without disturbances from others and without disturbing others. Also friendly, helpful and charming service.
1 maddening point: I heartily dislike being referred to as a “guy” even as a group. PLEASE ask your staff to say something like “Hello everyone” or “Are you ready to order?” WITHOUT adding “guys”!
Women are NOT guys! Thank you. 😎
Our booking for a work Xmas meal on your festive meal was completely messed up and after speaking to your assistant manager in lengthy calls we were granted a bottle of prosecco on our table. We arrived to a rowdy bar so first impressions were not great. After being seated we had to order from your dining menu which was very limited u less you want to pay the cost for a steak?! We all ordered starters most ordered your wild mushrooms. This was served cold and the mushrooms were hard and chewy and the bread soggy.
Half the table then ordered your lamb dish. None of us were very impressed. The meat itself was ok but the potatoes were cold and the side order of season veg was hard. Another ordered your burger but didn't want 2 burgers so it was suggested a kids burger could be cooked instead. This was then served as a whole kids portion with what I can only say is 5 chips with it! She may have only wanted one burger but the rest of the portion should have been adult sized!!!
The only dish that can out that was ok was your cod and chips.
We tried to just enjoy ourselves but the food put us off ordering any desserts and the cost of drinks were ridiculous. I know it's the centre of Bath but we were charged nearly £10 for a double vodka and red bull?!!!!! The rowdy blokes downstairs were drunken chanting at each other not the most ideal setting for a meal. Our service was fine but think a lot of that was due to the fact we had complained before even arriving. We then just paid and left. Such a shame because I personally recommended your restaurant after using you before but every person left on Friday saying they wouldn't return after what they had experienced. Not good at all and as a dining experience from start to finish this was all pretty poor.
A Great time was had with Friends and first class service to are table.
We gathered for a friends get together with our hubbies in tow. Our waitress was absolutely amazing catering for all our requests (checking with the kitchens for further information). Nothing was too much trouble for her and she is an asset to you. Sadly we didn’t remember to ask her name (shame on us). We will definitely making a return to Bath and to Hall & Woodhouse again based on this service. My only complaint was that some of the roast potatoes on the Sunday roast were a little overdone/dry, but that is just a small consideration
Booked a table via opentable.co.uk . prompt reply. And booking info. Once arrived at venue taken straight to our table. Lift was used for my Mum on her walking stick as table was upstairs. Friendly attentive staff. Lovely tapas enjoyed with a nice bottle of wine. Lively atmosphere. Not rushed even though it was busy festive period. Would highly recommend.
