Great welcome and drinks. Food took a while but was amazing. Service was mostly brilliant other than one fairly unfriendly server (we were the youngest patrons there and we couldn’t help but feel that this was the cause of the unfriendliness as this server was very nice and chatty to other customers!). Luckily the other brilliant staff members more than made up for this and the food and drinks were brilliant! MoreOpenTable Diner -
Very well received, shown to a good table in the corner of the restaurant. Great wine list, chose the South African red which was very smooth. Order taken in good time which suited us. Starters exceptional, I had soup, my wife the duck. Followed by mains, a beautifully cooked steak for me and liver and bacon very well presented for my wife. Surroundings and décor very good, bar noisy to begin with but as the evening went on it quieted down and didn`t affect us in the restaurant. Our waitress, Jana was superb, very attentive and friendly which as well as the superb food and drinks makes you want to go back as the service was that good. MoreOpenTable Diner -
This is the second time we've taken our two Grandchildren, age 8 and 5, to Zizzis for lunch before going to the Pantomime at the Theatre Royal. The children love it there, menu is good for them, they both loved the Garlic Bread starter with crudites. The staff are great with children , nothing is too much trouble. We enjoyed our meal too. A good start to an eventful day. MoreOpenTable Diner -
Went for our 20th anniversary.we chose this place as this is where we had our wedding reception. We had a starter, main and dessert. The food was absolute out of this world. It had flavour and was just so tasty. I would highly recommmend the old forge to EVERYONE. The staff were polite and the service was good. The lighting was a little dark but made it romantic for us with all the candles. A perfect way to spend our anniversary. Thankyou very much the old forge. I'm sure we will sure you very soon. The ASK Italian restaurant in Winchester is proud to call God Begot House home. Eating in this stunning Grade II listed building, believed to date back almost 1000 years, is an experience not to be missed. We also recommend the historical tours of the cobbled streets as old as the capital of England.
Our chefs rise to the challenge of the our surroundings to offer you a large and varied menu that includes assorted meat and fish dishes, as well as more traditional Italian cuisine. As well as the public dining space, we have a private function room called the Queen Matilda room, which you can hire for parties of up to 14 guests.More
