About Hanoi Café
Located in one of London’s hippest enclaves, Hanoi offers sizzling, fresh traditional Vietnamese food to a mixed crowd of local Hoxton hipsters. But the Hanoi Café is also just near enough to the City to attract an after work crowd. The décor is simple and bright it and lets the food speak for itself. The atmosphere is bustling and breezy.

Hanoi Café Ratings and Reviews
Booked for 20.30 and was late, called to let them know and they moved the reservation with no problem despite the place being very busy. Arrived and did not know what to order, the lovely waitress really helped out and the food came quickly, was so fresh and tasted stunning, four of us ate, 1.50gbp per person corkage and the bill was 14.50 each - what more can you ask for? just go there!
My friends and I have been to Hanoi Cafe a few times now and have always enjoyed it. This time a friend and I decided to have a joint birthday dinner of 22. The service, seeing as it was a busy saturday night and there were so many of us, was brillant. Everyone enjoyed the food, which is great value for the amount to can afford in relation to some other pricey Vietnamese restaurants on Kingsland Road, Shoreditch. Great and easy place to have delish Vietnamese food for any occasion.
Hanoi Cafe, Shoredich.
A decent way along the Pho mile, it was very, very quiet when we arrived - Lucky, really, as I wasn't in the mood for loud, shouting people at the time.
The selection and quality of starters was superb, as was the selection of different fillings for the roll-your-own summer rolls.
The only fly in the ointment was that they don't seem to accept cards - though i don't really mind on this occasion. It's worth the effort to grab some cash!
Hanoi Café in Dalston is still an enjoyable place to eat - we've been going there for several years. It competes well on price with all the other restaurants in the same strip (there are lots of Vietnamese restaurants on that part of Kingsland Road). I wouldn't go anywhere else!
Hanoi cafe is the perfect place to graze and share with friends. The food is varied, freshly prepared, well flavoured and served quickly. So we start by ordering a few dishes and then add more as the meal and chat progresses. Service is friendly and prompt, the wine list consists of one red and one white, so simple, and the atmosphere is happy and relaxed. Great value.
Hanoi Cafe has been one of our consistent favourites for a few years and, unlike some of the other restaurants in Dalston Kingsland, has not increased its prices disproportionately as the cost of food went up.
Their Pho (Vietnamese beef soup) is always nice (I'd recommend sharing a bowl as a starter, or having one each as a light lunch). Expect lots of other flavoursome dishes too.
Third trip to the Hanoi this year! We had the Tilapia fish with chilli and lemongrass, the beef in a claypot, and the roast duck, all absolutely delicious. Love this place for the relaxed vibe, tasty food and great value, especially as you BYO. Great credit crunch meal out. Highly recommended!
Hanoi Cafe is really relaxed and the type of place you can linger over a catchup dinner with friends. The BYO licence is a bonus, defintiely a good option for the weekend! The staff were really lovely and the food was great, esp the rice paper rolls. It's a nice cheap option for a good night out.
Once again the Hanoi provided a fantastic dining experience! Took my Boyfriend's parents who are visiting from out of town and they loved it! Highlights of the meal were the crispy fried fish with ginger, absolutely delicious, melt in your mouth, and the clay pot chilli beef, so yummy! Sticky rice is great for chop stick novices. Only tiny downside was the sharing platters for the starters, tasty but a little on the stingy side. Bring your own is always a bonus. Highly recommended!
I booked the Hanoi Cafe for my birthday celebrations, they were extremely accommodating and let my friends leave a cake with them earlier in the day that was bought out later for a surprise! The food was very good value, tasty and fresh, and service fab. BYO for £1.50 ahead makes this an even better place to eat, especially for a large group. The menu is extensive and varied, portions decent. Highly recommended!
Hanoi Cafe offers fabulous, fresh, delicious Vietnamese food every time. My friend and I had a wonderful dinner there last night - I particularly recommend the salt and chili crispy tofu. It's a charming, quiet little place with lovely attentive staff and very reasonably priced, very good food. Highly recommended.
If you're looking for simple, tasty Vietnamese food, Hanoi Cafe has always delivered for me. We are returning customers to this restaurant, which is in a 'colorful' part of town, but where prices are low and the food is consistently nice. Highly recommended.
We love Vietnamese food, and we now love coming to Hanoi Cafe every so often. This time, we tried some of the seafood dishes (pineapple fish hotpot and salt chilli squid) - which were perfectly cooked and very authentic (we recently came back from Vietnam). If you like simple, unpretentious food, I really do recommend this place.
We had an absolutely delicious meal at Hanoi Cafe on 3 April. We ordered a range of dishes including salt and chili crispy tofu, summer rolls, minted sweet chili chicken, beef noodle soup and braised tofu and aubergine curry. They were all extremely good. The restaurant has a relaxed, casual atmosphere and simple, unpretentious decor. Service was slightly hard to attract at times but generally good enough. The restaurant offers unusually good value for money and I recommend it highly.
Had a good meal at the Hanoi Cafe on 28 March 08. I'd never had Vietnamese food before but was impressed by the extent of the reasonably priced menu which should have something to suit most palates and diets. The dishes themselves all had clean and robust flavour and there was enough quantity-wise to satisfy in each portion. I'd recommend the Hanoi Cafe without hesitation to anyone looking for an interesting meal in unpretentious surroundings.
I booked in advance but there really was no need for lunchtime. The place wasn't much to look at but the ambience was pleasant and the service was good and attentive. The food was great and was served quickly! Good selection and reasonable amount of vegetarian options too. Definitely worth a visit and would go back.
