I eat here regularly. Superb food, good portions. and service is fairly prompt. Harry’s is an institution really and well worth with a detour to St John’s Wood High St.
We've been to Harry Morgans several times. The service is always good and our recent visit was no different.
The food quality was a bit more mixed though. The chicken soup and the chicken schnitzel pita were both excellent but the Reuben and the Smoked Salmon Bagel we had were very underwhelming.
We had never eaten here before but the reviews promised great things. We thought the interior was rather plain and a little scruffy but not uncomfortable. We dined early so there were plenty of tables. Service was reasonably fast but the staff seemed more than a little disengaged and really more interested in talking to each other than with their clients. Not really rude but fairly disinterested. We had the mixed starter between us and everything on the plate was delicious. We enjoyed every mouthful. However my Macaroni cheese was rather bland and far too salty. My husband’s Roast Chicken dish was, he felt, somewhat disappointing. We each left about half of our main course and took the remainder back to our Hotel; the staff were happy to bag it for us. I visited the toilets before I left and they were pretty grim. Scruffy and tired looking and in need of a thorough clean. Generally disappointing but the starter was very good.
Food, service, ambience great.
Harry Morgan is an institution as well as a good cafe and restaurant. Huge portions, wonderful salt beef
I have been going to HM for 35 years plus and this is the most disappointing for food quality, service, yet Sorry but it used to be so much better and the atmosphere was just dull
Great authentic Ashkenazi Jewish home cooking - recommend the chopped liver and chicken soup
A bit noisy - some of the noise was actually generated by the employees - waiters, etc.
Food was ok.
Another delicious lunch in this neighbourhood gem. Service a bit slow this time around would be my only slightly negative remark.
Harry Morgan’s in SJW, a real neighbourhood gem. Busy and bustling on a Sunday lunchtime but service still efficient and friendly. Excellent burger with stilton. Kids loved their hotdogs and want to go back next weekend. Recommended.
Always delicious food and service with a smile from the chatty staff.
We go every year with friends on the way to the cricket. Food always good and different. Friendly service. Can get noisy if young children in there but doesn’t spoil anything.
Tables can be a bit small - we pre booked a table for 6 but we’re put on a small round table with not much room. It didn’t make much difference to us but other people may find it cramped.
We will be going back next year for definite and would go there when we were in the area.
Dreadful service and had to wait for The Haddock as they sent someone to Tesco to buy one and asked if we wanted to go!!!
The mac n cheese tasted like it came out of a tin. My salad leaves were yellow rather than green and the broccoli was yellow but the taste of my salad was ok. The key lime pie was set hard and no sign of using fresh limes to make it- more like lime jelly and condensed milk. Overall the food was really disappointing
Not a patch on how it used to be, such a shame. Service was a shambles, had to wait for thirty minutes for our lunch which was not great when it eventually arrived and the restaurant was less than a third full, unlike the old days! No wonder..... I won't be returning
We went for dinner after work. Overall- not impressed. The whole place smelled of fish and was badly ventilated. The food was good but not spectacular- certainly not something to rave about. Definitely too pricey for what the quality is.
Brought me back a little bit of home!!!!
Ladies toilet was disgusting. Staff friendly but as the English was not great , communication was a bit difficult.
Great food and service and Salt Beef good as you can get.
Poor breakfast before the cricket! Was looking forward to a good fry up but not very good and service was chaotic too
Good value simple diner food with great service. Can't go wrong.
Great food, abysmal service
Service was terrible sadly, took ages to get served and when we did it was by a disgruntled waiter. Food was bought out haphazardly and took AGES, the place was not even half full. We've been a few times and it's never been this bad. Two of my guests had undercooked food and because it all arrived at different times we were unable to enjoy it together. It was my partners birthday and I'd bought in my own cake and had put it in their fridge, however, I had to ask for it 5 times which kind of gave the surprise away! Harry Morgans REALLY let us down and with regret, it will be the last time we go. :(
Nice New York deli-like venue with typical NY food - good service and easy parking after hours - reasonable pricing and good laidback atmosphere
Poor service and overpriced for the quality of food..would not visit again
Went there for a late lunch. Took about half an hour to bring out the food, which for a deli style restaurant seemed like ages. Decor is nice, service was ok, but seemed to be a bit unfocused with mixups of orders. Overall it was ok.
Solid food like grandma used to make.... huge fun .....however their toilets need some attention...
The hand drying machine that is supposed to be hygenic is covered in rust and mould inside and wasn't switched on..... and the toilet is not ever so clean......
We go to Harry Morgan from time to time and enjoy the food very much. On Staurday evening the service was very slow and the soup was not hot enough first time round. We hope things improve for our next visit.
The Oreo cheesecake did not taste like cheesecake in flavour nor texture.
Location is great. Food is great. Atmosphere is cute. Only thing lacking was the service. When the lunch crowd came in, the few servers couldn't keep up.
Prices much too high for quality of food
Been going to Harry Morgan's for years for an end of year get together. Great food as always. Mid-price range. Was let down by poor service from disinterested waiters. Don't know if this was a one off or whether something has changed. Will follow other reviews before deciding about next year.
A very very busy afternoon - and like any venue when the kitchen gets. Behind it's mayhem
Staff / service were not there usual standard and the mgr knocked off the service without being asked - I would go back - but if you ever arrive and it's full - best to turn around as kitchen can't cope with the place at full capacity
The home of rubber salt beef - they could do this so much better , rest of the offering is decent , really decent actually - cmon guys get this sorted
We used to go to this restaurant when it first opened and the food was excellent. It continued to be good even when it was sold. It was then sold a few years later and has been steadily going downhill. The staff are awful. My daughter asked if the salt beef was kosher. I think the waiter didn't know what she was talking about. If you open a deli you should have staff who understand your customers. I wouldn't go back
Fantastic salt beef rueben and amazing value at £11-12 - would go back specifically for this sandwich again.
Matzo ball soup tasty but matzo balls themselves let it down a bit.
Tasty mini latkes as well!
Definitely worth the pain getting to St John's Wood
Lively (and noisy) New York deli diner with a strong Jewish (though not kosher) element to the menu. Food is tasty, staff are pleasant. The tables are small and so space is limited - arguably it's all rather on the cramped side. It's not cheap but the overall experience is pleasurable. If the management would create a bit more space and lower the prices, this could become one of the gems of the NW London restaurant scene. It's not quite at that level, I'm afraid, but I can recommended it nevertheless.
Some nice Jewish food but really they ought to change the seats with big splits in them; what one of us ordered in a virtually empty restaurant was got wrong - TWICE!
We reserved a table for a surprise birthday party and everything went absolutely marvellously! The food is really authentic and delicious, especially Gifelte Fish, meats platter and potato latke. We had fantastic time and definately will be coming back. Thank you!
The food is Jewish type deli food but cant compare with the likes of New York. It is ok if someone craves for NY deli food as long as they dont have expectations that it is the same standard.
