Good food, reasonably priced and well looked after by the staff
I went back to make sure to try the harissa salmon fillet while it was still on the menu, and was not disappointed: this is a brilliant dish. Everything else was much as before except the Nederburg Chenin Blanc has moved on to 2018, not quite such a star as the 2017 but still excellent (and perfect with the salmon). More than before, I was reminded what a pleasant room the dining room is with its timbers and quaint prints. The Old Winchester cheese is particularly good on an already strong cheeseboard. Bravo encore!
We have been to Harry's several times now and it is just as good as the first time we went. It is a relaxed atmosphere, service is good all in all a nice restaurant making for a nice evening. Will be going again.
I like Harry's, a simple but perfectly fine menu reasonably priced, friendly service, some quiet corners for a decent chat and a lovely ambiance - I've been there several times and they've never let me down.
AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. Basically scammed us by adding items to the bill. When we asked post meal how we managed to consume so much, they claimed to have it all on CCTV. When we asked to see the CCTV, they then said it didn't exist. They have offered to return just the service charge, well short of the amount they scammed us for, and I declined.
The matter is now with our respective credit card companies.
There are literally dozens of really nice bars and restaurants nearby. Save yourself the bother of checking if you've been scammed and just go to them instead.
Booked last minute through OpenTable for three people. Good service, good food, nice restaurant.
Still on form with an excellent prawns & smoked salmon starter and venison with Marsala, not quite as outstanding as the venison with garlic last year, but still very enjoyable. Nederburg wines have replaced Journey's End as the South African options, still a decent choice and a bit cheaper, with the 2017 Chenin Blanc as good as you would expect from this superstar vintage in the Cape. My delightful waitress Jodi ran the service most attentively despite the room getting quite full & busy. The Dirty Harry cocktail is a brilliant spin on the Moscow Mule ... just don't be surprised when it turns up and is pink! It still has the kick of the mule, despite the raspberries. A super evening.
Really good meal, served efficiently and with charm. Always a good choice
This was a real find. Our waitress was lovely. It was busy and service is measured. We were not in a rush. It was a lovely place to catch up with a friend..could talk to each other and be heard.
I was on dry January and the most amazing and delicious personalised cocktail (virgin) was made for me. The best non alcoholic cocktail I have had.
Food was delicious. I had cod and chips and my friend the lamb shank and mash. Really good dishes.
The decor is quirky and the staff so friendly .
I would come back here for a mid week meet up.
Thank you Harry's Bar for a fab night. Oh and the 50% off food offer was a bonus!
The Roquefort salad was an insult. Two chicory leaves on the plate filled with the cheese and walnuts. You would never pay 11.25 for. Soup with stilton crumb was missing the stilton. Room acoustics were v noisy with a group. And the service was awkward with staff asking to pass you cutlery when genuinely easy just to come around to the other side of table. And I ripped my jacket on a loose catch on a door.
I had booked a table in the restaurant 3 weeks prior to this booking, but ended up being seated in the main bar. Where a gentleman sat at the bar had soiled himself and was asleep in his chair.
The maitre'd stated she had called me many times but didn't get an answer. However she did call "once" and that was only to confirm my booking, she then quickly changed her story to this. It was very embarrassing as this was a client dinner and this argument happened in-front of them.
We was given a cheap bottle of cava for the inconvenience, not a very nice Experience and I wont be visiting again nor recommending this to anybody else.
The only saving grace for the evening was the lovely food.
Welcoming , friendly , great hospitality, bar man was lovely, our waiter was very attentive, food was superb. Overall a lovely dining experience
Lovely meal. Would have rated 5 stars but they had run out of fillet steak (my absolute favourite) and the cocktails took ages to arrive.
Great service and food, on a very busy night. Will be going back!
Excellent service despite being incredibly busy with Christmas crowd. Well done!
Excellent table and venue for a business meeting, enjoyed the afternoon food and the Malbec 🍷
Service personal and attentive throughout.
Great food and ambiance. Bit pricy but to be expected in The City.
Delicious food served very quickly and a wide selection to choose from. Plates were a little bit cold though.
We were in a small room which meant that it was nice and quiet when we were the only ones there but got a bit noisy when a large table sat down next to us.
Good value with the 50% off food on the à la carte menu. Friendly service.
Very good food and attentive service as we have experienced before. Lovely to have the 50% off the food. We will visit again and would certainly recommend.
We enjoyed an excellent lunch. Attentive staff, good food and delicious and reasonably priced wine. What more can you ask?
The venue was busy but the amount of time we had to wait for our food to be served was excessive. However, when the food finally came it was excellent.
Really exceeded by expectations and the open table offer on food made is reasonable value too.
Food was very disappointing.
A great local spot!
Overall the experience was smashing; the service was exemplary and the food was very tasty with super wine to complement. The only issue we had was resolved instantly....it was too warm! Thoroughly recommended especially as they have a mid week 50% discount off food.
Very tasty food in a comfortable ambiance. Will definitely go back as they’re about to change the menu!
First time at Harry's - lovely restaurant with friendly staff and great food. Most enjoyable
Friendly accommodating staff, great food in a convenient location.
excellent venue for a business lunch. Good atmosphere But quiet enough to talk. Accommodating staff and good food. Mid priced (about £50pp for 2 courses, glass of wine and coffee)
A really nice imtimate feeling!
I booked it without knowing anything about the place, my wife was worried as I hadn’t read any reviews.
She was more than happy with the whole night as were our friends.
As always the food was fantastic. Service was really good. With the 50% discount value for money was amazing, I would not quibble about paying full price for the food here as it’s that good.
Always good food and service, can't go wrong. My wife and I regularly go after work as we can always get a table.
I met up for lunch with a friend at Harry's Bar and thought that the dining experience was very good indeed.
Great meal, fab wine, lovely serving team 👍
Staff were very friendly and happy which was nice. They were very eager to clear the table after every course though which made it feel a little rushed but this can also be interpreted as just good service. It was quiet at the time so this may be why.
Bar/restaurant itself looks great and has a great atmosphere. The menu is fantastic, varied and classy and the food itself was cooked brilliantly. I highly recommend the pigeon breast as a starter and the lamb shank was so well cooked it basically fell away from the bone when I touched it.
Value wise its not necessarily cheap but by London standards its not bad at all either. You get the sense when you arrive that it is a nicely decorated classy place so you don't mind paying for a little more luxury.
would recommend for business lunches/dates/or meals with friends if you are looking for a higher than average experience with a menu and wine list that delivers.
Overall, very pleased. Would give 4 stars.
We went for an evening with friends and we all commented that there was good food selection on the evening a la carte menu and a nice selection of wines at reasonable prices (such that we ended up having two bottles). The service was attentive but not over bearing. A hidden cosy little gem right in the heart of the City of London.
a hidden gem. food is excellent and a good range of wines. ambience is good - cosy.
very accomodating and a good selection on the al a carte menu. They kindly agreed to put our 2 tables of 4 together making it a table of 8. The food arrived hot and the service was very good but it would have been nice to have been served some bread with the starters even if they charged for it as some of the starters come with delicious sauces which then remain on the plate ( the pidgeon breast starter being a classic example of this.) The 50% deal makes it fantastic value ( we would have happily paid the full price) and the wine selection is comprehgensive and appropriately priced.
Excellent service great for a business lunch
