Really enjoyable meal with friends to celebrate my birthday.
Each member of our group had been to a Hawksmoor restaurant before but not the Air Street location. We were surprised by how big the dining room was but despite it being a busy Friday night, the service was amazing. The food quality as ever was incredible with portion sizes fit for even the biggest appetites. It was a great evening on all fronts.
We’ve been here quite a few times and have never come across such horrific service. It took the waitress over an hour to even take our order and then 1 hour 40 for the food to arrive. As soon as we’d finished the waitress came over and informed us we had to leave within 20 minutes. We had not been told we need to leave the table when we booked and not when we sat down. When we asked to speak to the manager, he was derogatory and rude. We then asked to speak to the general manager who was also rude and took no responsibility. Eventually she admitted fault but it took us 30 minutes of arguing to be allowed to have a coffee to finish the birthday meal. Terrible terrible service, I’ve never seen anything like it.
We usually go to hawksmoor seven dials but decided to try air street. We found the steaks weren’t as good as at seven dials but still a nice meal. The service was great. We unfortunately had a couple seated next to us who were playing videos from their phones with the sound on - made it feel like we were at McDonald’s instead of out for a nice meal!
When I go to a steak restaurant I expect the steak to be perfectly cooked. Ours wasn't. We ordered a medium rare porterhouse to share but it came out well done and tasteless. The staff couldn't be more helpful, they gave us the steak free and free deserts but we would much rather have paid and enjoyed our food. We ordered another steak which when it arrived was beautiful and perfectly seasoned, we ate it with our now cold sides. Our free deserts were a nice touch, but were just ok; the rhubarb tart had a beautiful flavour but the rhubarb was so undercooked you couldn't cut through it, the peanut butter shortbread was clarty and not at all the crisp shortbread one would expect. This was a special birthday occasion that we had really been looking forward to but left the restaurant feeling disheartened and underwhelmed. The staff were lovely, as was the atmosphere but unfortunately it wasn't enough. :-(
Hawksmoor at Air Street is outstanding. The food is outstanding, the bar is outstanding and the service is outstanding. Check out the creamed spinach and the Salcombe Crab starter. I would also recommend the “Full Fat Old Fashioned”.
This was my first time dining at the Hawksmoor, and it has been my favourate meal to date. Fantastic meal at a great price, food was excellently cooked and presented, very helpful and friendly service. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a very enjoyable meal and experience.
Opted for the set men which had 3 choices for each course of which I could have eaten all of them. Food was excellent same as the service. My friend and I were doing the London night bus so were causally dressed but did not feel out of place, same as if I had been smartly dressed. Overall a great experience which I will do again.
Hawksmoor is reputed to serve the best steak in London, and I would agree that it does. We were older than most of the clientele. It was too noisy for our liking, and there is a scruffiness which was a surprise. However the food really was outstanding, and the service superb. The waitress realised instantly we were not comfortable where we had been seated and moved us to a quieter area. It is a restaurant for the young wine quaffing Londoner who appreciates excellent steak in a pubby type setting.
Had previously been to Hawksmoor Seven Dials with friends and enjoyed it. Took my son for a half term treat whilst in London for the day. Food was excellent as usual and service was friendly and attentive. I would thoroughly recommend Hawksmoor. You can eat cheaper but the overall experience is very good - ideal for the occasional treat.
I was rather disappointed, actually. The waiting staff were all charming and excellent, but the food was fairly average. We chose from the set menu, which is very well priced, but the food is rather lacking in finesse and the steak, albeit excellent, arrived naked on my plate, without any attempt at presentation or garnish. The puddings were rather stodgy and terribly sweet. I liked the decor and ambiance but the food did not match up to my expectations and certainly can’t compare with set menus at other restaurants we’ve tried recently.
Food disappointing , average at best. Steak was of poor quality for the price. Service was exceptional though, made the experience much more pleasant. Waiters the best around
We're not Londoners so this was a special treat for us but I guess the prices are normal for people living in a big city. However, even though we found the food and drinks a little expensive the service was second to none from the moment we entered the bar to the moment we left, plus the food was to die for. Best fillet steaks we have ever eaten, chips were absolutely delicious and so were the veg. We ate late in the afternoon so it was pretty quiet in the restaurant/bar as it was between lunch and dinner service. My son introduced me to Hawksmoor and so when we found ourselves in London again last week we couldn't wait to go back - delighted to say we weren't disappointed. Gutted we couldn't manage a pudding maybe next time - thanks guys we had an excellent time
