It provides 'the best power breakfast' (GQ Magazine) to London's financial capital and is perfect for meetings and entertaining clients. The 160-cover restaurant is renowned for serving dictionary-thick steaks simply cooked on a real charcoal grill.
The wine list has been carefully selected to include their favourite wines from obscure small producers and big name vineyards alike and the bar is manned by some of the best bartenders in London serving classic cocktails and original drinks.
There is also a private dining room seating 22, as well as a table for 10 in the main dining room, which serves the exclusive beef tasting feast menu.

Steak (porterhouse 900g) was very very dry with the fillet section being just one tiny portion of the overall steak. I've had this cut dozens of times with a much more egalitarian split between the two; as is after all the point of the premium pricing on the cut.
Dining Room is louder than a nightclub, inhibiting easy conversation. Needs some acoustic dampening installed. Staff very good, friendly and attentive and quick with drinks etc. Had a few different By The Glass red wines, none of which i enjoyed. Drink offered by staff by way of apology for the steak issues.
Excellent wine - Lebanese, outstanding Fillet Steak and the sides were wonderful - mushrooms, Mash and Gravy and Spinach. Delicious. The dessert was splendid - Tom and Jerez for me, lovely, and Peanut Butter Shortbread for my friend - which blew his socks off. See you soon. Not cheap, but worth it
I have never had a bad meal here whether it be for breakfast or lunch. Staff are very competent and nothing is too much trouble despite being very busy on occasions. I would highly recommend this venue. the food is great.
The food here was good thats the one thing i cant fault! However they have a acoustic problem so it was so loud you couldn’t hear the music or have a conversation, i came out with a migraine! Our server forgot about us/ignored us most of the night and served all the other tables around us! Would not visit this venue site again im afraid...
Very good lunch - best steak in town.....bit noisy
Food definitely not as hot as it should have been.
Service middling- orders forgotten or wrong item was brought
After paying, no receipt was offered
Great location, exceptional but relaxed staff, great cocktails, great steaks, delicious crab starter...on this visit, sadly, the burger was overcooked. On a previous visit - one of the best burgers I've ever tasted in London
Bit too loud overall but amazing food
I have to say that we were very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed our evening with you. The food was to the usual high standard and the service was equally excellent.
We will be back I'm sure.
Outstanding food in a great setting! HG always delivers.
The food was good - both my scallop starter and the rump steak. I also liked the wine list - lots of choices at not too crazy prices for London. The thing I didn't like is the noise level: it is one enormous room with wooden floors and nothing at all to dampen the sound. The restaurant was full when I went, and whilst I am all for a lively atmosphere, I don't like literally having to shout across a small table to make myself heard to my guest.
Just lush! Nothing else to say apart from that and I think you should sell salted caramel rolos in shops
Food was great, we had Steak and the Lobster-Mac&Cheese. Only the sauce that came with the mac&cheese was not my taste at all. Its a really cool restaurant with great amience, but it gets quite noisy.
I would recommend it for dinners with parents and on special occations. Try the steak, its perfect!
Great steak as always. Wine typically pricey for what you get and service is not always the quickest.
Quality is high and service excellent and attentive. So far the best steak in town. Busy and vibrant. Detractors were 2: Noise level is not „energetic“ is is too loud. You need to speak up and have the hearing ability of a bat. Definitely not easy for business meetings but great for booze banker type out for a good time. Second item - I did not check my bill when paying which was split with a friend and we were both overcharged £15 each. Can happen but should not.
Great food, terrible service. Only ordered one course and it took forever- not great given high prices. No apology for delay either. Also very loud because there’s no sound insulation, but not going out loud- more of a general din.
Once for real meat eaters - Bone Marrow or Pork Chop for breakfast!
The chateaubrian was over cooked. Reserved a table at 8 but only got to sit at 820.
Great lunch, wonderful prime rib and sides. Noise levels a little high for my liking, but the food more than compensated for this.
Breakfast, 26 October, 0800-0900.
Great room and atmosphere - very masculine and business-like. Staff gave first class service without being stuffy: very friendly and helpful.
Very generous amount of food, well presented and mostly tasty. Excellent coffee.
Lively but plenty of space between tables. The booths are fun.
Would go again and definitely recommend.
I had high expectations of our breakfast meeting but the experience was not very good
The sharing breakfast - highly recommended -was all style and little substance. I dont like it when food chains add items to jazz something a dish up but actually then forget the fundamentals right. The bubble and squeak was completely tasteless and who wants roast potato size “bites” for brekkie. The dish was light on sausages and eggs so they fill it with the cheaper items, tomatoes and mushrooms. As for the bone marrow - revolting
Love the Hawksmoor. Guildhall is great as it offers breakfast service too. Beware though as the breakfast can take a while, so if you're in a rush let them know.
The food is always great at any of their restaurants
We work locally and hadn't noticed it before however the food and service where excellent the only concern is that I don't like basement dining.
We would, however, come again as space is huge
Great for full English breakfast!
Average. 2nd time that I have been disappointed.

Excellent meal and service from the top steak restaurant in London
Best steak EVER. I will never eat steak anywhere else ever again.
I had invited a couple to celebrate their recent wedding and we were incredibly well taken care of. Their sommelier was also able to recommend an excellent Beaujolais wine which worked very well with our main dishes. All of us were very happy with the dinner and service. Note that one of the guests had a gluten intolerance and they were able to cater for this with a special menu.
Good, but not great.
Despite asking for "lots of custard" with my dessert it came in what was possibly the world's smallest jug . I didn't even know that they made jugs that small.
This place is PHENOMINAL! We had the Porterhouse and its in the running for the best steak we have ever had. Service is great and food came very quickly. Great knowledge of menu by the staff. Value for money is also fantastic in comparison with other London high end restaurants. The only potential downside is the noise level, its not a place for a romantic meal. However, if this is not what you are looking for then I cant recommend this place enough. Go there!
A great steak in a traditional location, coupled with good service.
best bit of steak i have eaten in a very long time.!!
When you spend £36 on a steak your expectations will be high - for me the rare cooked fillet was ok - it was not great. The venue is great for business meals which is why I was there.
Very noisy but the meet is outstanding. The service takes time to prepare the meet to their best.
A little overrated, as the place to go for a ‘power breakfast.’
Good food, wine and service (although would have loved some St Emillion on the menu). Very rowdy group of young men on the next table, which brought the tone down a bit - but did see the manager have a word with them, which was reassuring
Very good indeed. My favorite steak restaurant. The menu is gloriously uncluttered and the service has got better.
Service was ridiculously slow...
Fantastic meal. Service was on point and the food absolutely top draw.
Had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Food was excellent as was service and atmosphere
