Possibly the best breakfast in London....fillet steak and eggs
Hawksmoor breakfast set me right.
Food fabulous , cocktails amazing great place to meet friends - probably not a romantic night out !!
The food quality and service were excellent. The best steak I have had in a long time, and the rest of my group concur. However, the room was full of echoes, making the noise level uncomfortably high. Surfaces to absorb sound would be a big improvement.
Food was good value (the £28 three course set option). The Yorkshires with the starter were a bit dry, the steak main reasonably good, and the Sundae dessert pretty good. The acoustics though made the restaurant a cauldron of noise - I had to look closely at my companion and speak loudly to have a chance of being heard, and it was relief to escape to the quiet of the street outside after the meal, ears ringing a little like after being to a disco.
Absolutely delicious steaks and superb chips. Our only issue was that the noise level was so high it was difficult to converse across the table.
We were really looking forward to going back, but we’re disappointed with the service. We asked for the “surf ‘n’ turf as we fancied steK and lobster as it was our 18th anniversary to be told, “no lobster” as well as no onion rings (how can a top end restaurant not make any onion rings!!
We chose other dishes and to be fair the food was as excellent as always........ but then we found out lobster was available and the manager made a mistake!
To rectify this she took our email address and was going to email us later, to ensure we got complimentary lobster next, disappointingly that didn’t happen either.
Generally we always have excellent food, service and drinks at hawksmoor, and what ever city we are in, if there’s one there, we go, just disappointing on our 18th anniversary we got let down!
Greeted with and smile, seated quickly in a lovely booth. Drinks were swift, staff polite and the bacon chop for breakfast was amazing. I’m never disappointed by Hawksmoor.
Good breakfast, good service, drinks are too expensive for breakfast service!
I was looking for a nice steak venue to take my friend for a birthday lunch and, on my daughter’s recommendation I chose The Hawksmoor Guildhall. We opted for the special menu and our cocktail and first course were lovely. The steak option was rump and the waitress advised us to at least have it cooked medium as it was a cheaper cut of steak. My fried ordered a medium/rare, which came up rare. In short, after really trying to eat her steak, it wasn’t edible. We complained to our lovely waitress who apologised and offered to bring her another steak. By this time I, along with another friend, were halfway through our meal and the birthday girl did not want to eat alone. The waitress did give my friend a small box of chocolates, but what was supposed to be a lovely treat was by now spoilt. I was under the impression that this was a high end steak restaurant and we were all very disappointed. We weren’t charged for the birthday girl’s meal, but to be honest she didn’t eat it so that was of no consequence. Sadly we will not be returning.
Amazing, best breakfast ever
Great service - such brilliant servers! Food was gorgeous too
I've now eaten here enough times to make cattle tremble when I'm in the countryside. My inner vegetarian tries to wrestle with me but so far it's a one-sided scrap. Hawksmoor excels - every time.
Food was very good, but delivery made it feel a bit like we were sitting in a Nando’s! No introduction, detail or communication (or even speech) from the servers. Felt like we had offended them (we hadn’t!). I also saw them go to the wrong table first to serve the food!
Greeting staff were nice, as were waiters sorting drinks and the lady who took the order was good, so it wasn’t all bad, but this delivery was pretty poor for a restaurant at this price point. Felt pretty awkward!
Though we moved on pretty quickly and still enjoyed the meal!
Went with colleagues to the Monday night £5 corkage deal. We were blown away by the quality of the food and how much the staff went above & beyond the normal level of service expected.
The food and service was fantastic as you would expect. The biggest downside was the noise, it was unbearable! I would not return here just for that reason. The main eating area is one massive room and it echos quite a bit, so everyone talks louder and louder until everyone is shouting. I really wish they were able to do something about this (maybe partition the room off, or use some acoustic dampening) as everything else was great.
i have been to Hawksmoore many times previously and had a fantastic meal and service has always been great, its seemed that on this time it was not that busy but it took 45 minutes for the steak to come out and when it did mine was over cooked so it got send back my other 2 friends enjoyed their ones. they did offer to bring out another one but by that time my friends were nearly finished their meal and it did not really seem worth it, they did take off a bottle of wine which was kind of them, but just we we could have relaxed abit more as time the steak arrived we had to rush to go somewhere else that was pre booked.
Really good meal all round
Love this place! We travelled all the way from Hong Kong to dine at this place again
Love the English full breakfast
Best in England!
impeccable, with the best crab starter and gin gimlet of all time. always a winner.
The staff were friendly and helpful, but service was a bit slow. The food was excellent, but l found the wine disappointing (Hawkshead Malbec), a bit thin, possibly because it was served cold, rather than at room temperature.
Normally love a Hawksmoor breakfast when I’m in London but this time the service let it down. Missed items from order, specifics not catered for (ie asked for sauce on the side).
Hopefully a one off....!
Filled with buzz, staff was wonderful, and steaks done right. Exactly what you should expect from a classic steak house experience.
Excellent steaks as usual. Hawksmoor knows it’s meat and, more importantly, how to cook it to maximum effect.
As always....Simon le BONNE. Sausage sarny avec le sauce francais le make Johnny a garcon contentement.
My definition of value is “Would I go back?” Here every time..... exceptional!
Acoustics aside very enjoyable meal. Perhaps a bit unkind on service as the staff were very pleasant and helpful and at the end no rush to get rid of us. Overall the qualities of the food were good, not least the beef. Well done Hawksmoor.
Although service was good, and steaks good, side orders were very expensive and small. there was a lot of noise and appeared more like a canteen restaurant than an upmarket one.
Everybody enjoyed themselves
Been a while since we all have got together
Was pleased the place is still good
Enjoyable early evening dinner, can only imagine that there would have been a better atmosphere later on. Food was ace, service was really nice, if a little slow. Would definitely go back.
We came back to Guildhall Hawksmoor for my Husbands birthday and once again we had an amazing evening! The atmosphere and service from when you walk in the door to when you walk out is unforgettable! Unfortunately I did find a hair in my steak which meant I couldn’t finish my food, however this was toward the end of my meal so it didn’t spoil my evening. I know that it had never happened to us before and I just caught the short straw. Food is always delicious with the most immense flavours so this will not stop us from coming back for the next Birthday or special event! Thank you to all of the team at guildhall for making again a memorable and special evening for us! X
Best breakfasts in London... anywhere you can have a cocktail and steak at 7am is amazing.
Monday night 5 quid corkage is great. Take a few magnums! Food is always dependable and well executed. Only gripe is it's quite noisy....place some sound absorption material in the cellar?
Good steak and chips. Service ok rather than great.
Generally a very good experience. A bit pricey for what you actually get on a full English. It could be kept a bit more simple without the spicey sausage. Normal bread would be a plus too!
Overall very tasty just could be a bit less expensive.
Absolutely amazing 😉 Friendly staff and delicious English breakfast. Can’t wait to come back.
Not the place for a romantic meal. Great place for steak, but mostly City men eating and drinking together and talking loudly.
Full English was amazing! Great for breakfasts as well as amazing Steak in the evening (or for breakfast if you fancy)
Always found Hawksmoor GH fantastic place for breakfast.
try their sharing breakfast. It's pricey but you get what you pay for an it's amazing
Best sirloin I’ve had in ages and HM always win the battle of the sides for me. The BEST mac n cheese
