Steak was shocking full of fat and sinew
Birthday meal. Food was average expected a lot more quality in the steaks and roast dinner
Excellent roast - could have have done with a little more meat however for the price, who can complain?!
Fantastic Sunday roast. Cooked to perfection. Service is amazing too. Staff and friendly and very knowledgeable on the menu.
Best place in the world. Do not miss the creamed spinach. It is to die for.
This was our second visit to the Hawksmoor Seven Dials and we were not disappointed. Took some friends for the first time and they loved it. Thank you.
We already did they were with us they also enjoyed the experience and the food.
Service was excellent as was the ambience. Looking forward to next time.
Fantastic food and great service. My girlfriend and I ate here for our anniversary and were very impressed! The staff were lovely, the food was delicious and the pre-theatre menu was very good value. The staff even brought us a special surprise to celebrate our anniversary - thank you!
+: very good food (bravo for the triple cooked fries and the wonderful carot salad).
-: Not enough light in the restaurant and very very noisy..
We went to Hawksmoor as I wanted a steak dinner in a better style of venue than I've experienced when I've eaten at a Wetherspoons - ie, steak, baked potato & a pint. I understood that this restaurant was such a place and the steak was better than Wetherspoons, the baked potato fancier and the wine list too.
We arrived early. There is a manned coat check and notwithstanding our arrival, we were shown to our table immediately which I thought boded well. We passed through a very crowded and loud bar and we were shown to a small/average sized table nearby to the till and placed so that we were just slightly beyond the elbow reach of the people either side. It wasn't cramped but neither was the distance comfortable, and it was loud, so much so that we didn't talk much as to do so, we would've had to have raised our voices and we were very conscious of the adjoining diners.
The service was good - in fact it was a very well-oiled machine. My partner used to manage 5* restaurants and commented that he'd never seen so many staff in a restaurant before. Maybe that explains the high prices because I can't see that anything else did.
Maybe I should've checked on the menu before we went but I assumed that the meal would be in the £70's+ range but when we sat down I was pretty shocked at the prices, and we did our best to keep our budget small; a small aperitif and mid-range starter each, a small(er)/ 'cheap' steak each, a couple of sides between us, one glass of wine, table-water, two (small) coffees and a dessert to share. Our eventual bill was still into 3 figures.
Now, we are 'ordinary' folk, and for a birthday meal we expect to lash out a bit but I've had better food, better ambience and for far less cost.
Would I go again? No, not unless it was with a group and for an event that was corporately paid. As I mentioned, I've eaten comparable food for much less, and I've sat in much more comfort and eaten much better for a similar cost.
Excellent steak, let down by poor service.
Amazing service! Good work!
Food was good too.
Excellent food and service. Very noisy group being a little inappropriate next to us, but not your fault. Lovely evening otherwise just a little expensive.
great food excellent service, knowledge staff. we had a lovely time to round off our London day out.
I took my niece here for her birthday, she had never been before and was very excited. She wasn't disappointed. The ambience was lovely, staff were very attentive, but not too much and as always the food was incredible! We will be back!
Over priced and has again failed to deliver a great eating experience..I booked this restaurant to say thank you to a colleague and friend ..the intention was to enjoy a great treat ..porterhouse steak, grilled lobster, plenty of beer and good wine..sounds vulgar perhaps but it was an occasion to say thank you and seemed to be the an appropriate venue for such an indulgence..beer and wine great but the steak was cold and I could not believe it was 800g as billed..also we ordered half a lobster each to surf the turf , only one tiny half arrived weighing in at 300g..I understand cooking loss etc but we left underfed and underwhelmed by the food..nothing wrong with the service and the venue..it’s also worth pointing out how difficult it is to share your dissatisfaction with the restaurant when the intention of the visit is to thank a friend ..sadly my last visit to Hawksmoor, sorry
Both the food and service were fantastic. Great steak, cook to perfection. And, the sides were excellent also.
As always great steak and sides! Nice wine offer!
A really enjoyable meal, great steak and excellent wine.
This wasn't my first time at the restaurant and as always it was exceptional. The only disappointment I had was that I would have like some cheese for my dessert but unfortunately I don't like blue cheese. And when I ask the waiter about the cheese he tole me that all but 1 was a blue cheese. If I had one recommendation it would be to have more of a selection.
Nice and cozy! Extremely loud and service was marginal
Food at Hawksmoor always great. Staff very accommodating, as we had limited time pre theatre.
Wonderful steaks. Great wine list. Have eaten here quite a few times and have always enjoyed it
Very good evening thanks
Good service and food , reasonable value for the money
.shame about the service charge
Perfection, as always.
Service was spot on, from being seated until we left. Food was spot on too, as it always is.
This has always been my favourite restaurant and couldn’t highly recommend enough.
Wear hearing protection for a good meal and service. We were there around 6:30 on a Saturday evening for dinner and the noise level measured an average of 88-95 dB. Yikes!
Definitely recommend the food and the service, but need to try another time to save the hearing.
Fantastic food and excellent service. Been before and brought friends for the first time and they loved it. Coming back soon
Very good with gluten free and low sodium accommodation! Food is delicious and well presented. Generous portions. Awesome atmosphere and service is great.
Brilliant for pre Theatre dinner - very good value
Great food, value and service! Highly recommend the pre- theatre menu!
Excellent food and service. Our go to restaurant when going to the Theatre in London. Never disappoints.
Good food highly recommend
Rib eye was amazing
excellent experience and food was amazing, only fault was one member of the party asked for a medium ribeye and it was a little overcooked. good service, good experienced waiting staff and also the sommelier.
Made reservation based upon recommendation and reviews. My wife was traveling with me from the US for work in celebration of her birthday. Bar none, the worse steak dinner we have ever had. Food was cold when served, coupled with the fact that meat was improperly cooked even after sending back first time around. I would NOT recommend this restaurant, the cost does not equal the value nor quality of food.
Nice vibe. The restaurant is large and filled up by 6pm. Service was very good and attentive, the serving staff knew exactly who each meal belonged to. Attentive enough to notice a dropped serviette and replace it with a clean one. Food was really good and tasty. Would visit again.
Menu as good and reliable as ever. Disappointed that the wine list lured me with a very good 2010, only to be told that 'we've just sold the last bottle, so it will be the 2011'. Very busy, and a feeling that it's resting on its laurels and not trying quite so hard any more.
Selected the pre theatre menu as 2 courses (most people would not get through 3!) starter beef&bacon with Yorkshire’s which is different and yummy and then a main hawksmoor hamburger which is very good quality.
Had reservation at 20:00 got seated 20:15
Not enough starter and salads
Lots of sides but options are limited meaning 2 spinach sides 3 types of patoeto dishes.
Sauces also limited no red wine ju for example
Meat was good at heart but bad butcher so lots of hard parts.
Overall as a steakhouse it wasn’t the best.
Great restaurant, very busy at peak time but it is understandable. great food and service, macaroni cheese are amazing and meat is TOP.
