Great food and the waiter (Philip) was awesome!
Wow, where do I start...... a really warm welcoming reception, very attentive waiting and hosting, excellent food and a very good all round atmosphere to this place, keep up the good work Hawksmoor staff.
Would certainly recommend this place to friends and we will definitely be returning on our next visit to London.
5 stars from me.
We ate a late 4.00pm lunch which was delicious. We were not shown the main wine list and only had a selection of three different wines, when seated by the bar.
The service demonstrated by the manager to the complaining table next to us was outstanding. No argument, no equivocation just sincere desire to be given the opportunity to put the error right next time.
It made us feel appreciated??!
always amazing food - their sunday roast is a steal for just £22!
We had the tastiest Sunday lunch with plenty of gravy 😋
Great family Sunday lunch.
Christina was a great host !!!! She gave us the best advice ever regarding the choice of our meat !!!! Great second visit ... we’ll come back !
Fantastic very time
The staff was very attentive, always happy to help and didn’t rush us. The food was amazing, the best stake I’d ever had. everyone in my party thoroughly enjoyed everything they ordered.
Having heard about Hawksmoor I was really excited to take my dad for a big birthday but we all left disappointed. The atmosphere and drinks are lovely and reasonably priced but I felt the food overall was a let down and too expensive for what we had.
For starters we had Yorkshire Puddings with gravy, Bone Marrow and Lobster. All was okay. Between us we ordered a Chateaubriand and Porterhouse a large quantity of meat with little seasoning and the worse Peppercorn sauce I've ever had (very watery).
Each of the sides were poor a couple of sprouts, a few parsnips that were both average and then a soggy cauliflower cheese that was lacking in cheese.
Had chocolate tart for pudding, the pasty was awful. Don't understand what all the fuss is about. Had better steak most other places.
Great evening. The steak always has a great flavour here and the set menu is fantastic value. Service was great from friendly and unpretentious staff.
All round really good. Steaks excellent.
Absolutely fantastic place. The food is always incredible and the staff make you feel so welcome. We visit every year on our anniversary!
Really excellent food. Always pricy but you get what you pay for.
pre-theatre menu caesar salad was far too salty, and jerusalem artichoke salad was nothing to write home about. We then waited for about 30 minutes for our steaks. Distinctly average, food for the masses. No class. Cocktail bar and bartender different story. He was super quick, very polite and made a delicious cocktail.
A wonderful and helpful staff. The cocktails and wine are great and the food was excellent.
Hawksmoor holds itself out as a very fine restaurant, and mostly succeeds. The Chateaubriand was delicious, as was most of the food. I was particularly impressed by the Oloroso sherry I took as an aperitif. So there is much to enjoy.
Biggest downside is that the tables are rather close together.
My star ratings may be a bit ungenerous. But I left thinking ‘yes, I would go there again, and enjoy it’ rather than ‘Can’t wait to go again’.
This was an enjoyable meal out. The reason for the more moderate review was the inconsistency and confusion in the service. We were served by quite a few different staff, and on three separate occassions other people's drinks or food turned up at our table. Once is an error, three times suggests there are some organisational issues in the table and order management. The food itself was enjoyable, but there was also an assumption that we knew how the system worked, rather than an introduction.
The food was fairly average, we went for the express menu pre theatre. The starter of Yorkshire pudding and pate was disappointing though the salad was very tasty. The steaks were incredibly tasty though quite tough which is not really expected from a steak restaurant.
Simply, the best steak I’ve ever eaten.
Great steaks. Good service from the lovely waitress. Made hubbies birthday very special. Good location for pre-theatre meal.
The food was to die for, The Steaks were out of this world.
As for the staff from when we walked in to the time we left they where very helpful and friendly.
We will be going back the next time we are in London
Great venue for lunchtime get-together for three old friends. Food very very good and wines were to match. Looked after by first rate staff who really knew the food choices, wine list and how to be attentive whilst not intrusive. Not cheap, but fairly priced and so that's not going to put me off a return visit with my family.
My wife and I went on a Monday to Seven Dials to celebrate a milestone birthday and having been to the Air St one, we were really looking forward to eating here. Food was great but didn't think it was as good atmosphere wise as Air St.
Instantly has become my new favourite steak restaurant.
Very good for pre Theatre dinner and staff very friendly and helpful
Yorkshires were a tad over cooked yet cold and the noise level is difficult for anyone hard of hearing.
However overall experience was great!
Another great visit to Hawksmoor Seven Dials. It always delivers on quality and enjoyment. We were there for my husbands 30th birthday and we had a massive Sunday roast each. Pudding came with a candle and a round of singing for my (very embarrassed) husband and we all had a great time!
Excellent meal, one of the best Sunday Roasts I’ve had! Great value for money as the portion size is large!
Service was attentive and great overall. Sunday roast is an amazing value at Hawksmoor.
Excellent quality steaks and meats as always, however visiting with a vegetarian in the group for the first time meant I had a degree of trepidation, however the celeriac option together with the great sides more than met her requirements. Great cocktails, ambiance and service, and the provision of some birthday chocolates was just wonderful.
Good advice on menu & lovely food. Moth too much trouble
Steak menu has become too complicated - difficult to decide with so many options. Steak not as good quality as other steak restaurants (eg Gaucho). My steak was not cooked as I had asked. Also another guest with us asked for his steak to be medium, but it was very pink. However there was no problem at all when we asked for it to be cooked for a little longer.
The service was superb and the staff charming.
Noise level was extreme when with friends who we had not seen in ages - impossible to chat!
Absolutely lovely food and the service was great. But I wasn’t too happy with how close the tables were together. Especially when I booked this for my boyfriend birthday we could he’s everyone else’s conversation expect our own. So don’t go here if you want a romantic quite meal.
Need to keep the sides hotter - quickly went cold and i am not a slow diner.
Food was excellent, however service was poor. Staff dressed in every day clothes, one was even wearing tatty old trainers, which gives a poor impression, especially when the restaurant is supposed to be high end. Did not have the same server each time, and had to flag down waiters for drinks. Plus restaurant added 12.5% tip, which I requested be removed. All in all poor experience, which is a shame, as the food was spot on.
Our most recent visit was well up to standard. The starters seem to have increased a little in size. Meats and interesting vegetables were enjoyed. Overall for starters, mains, 4 side dishes and some non-alcoholic drinks and lattes we paid just over £100. It was quieter than usual but enjoyable nonetheless.
The meat was outstanding. Soft and prepared exactly the way it was ordered. The service was very friendly as well.
Overall, we were slightly disappointed by our meal. I took my partner for his birthday, expecting great steak but it wasn’t above your average steak anywhere else. It appeared they may have had some problems in the kitchen because the two tables next to us sent theirs back.
My fish dish was served on the bone and whole, but didn’t state that on the menu. I had to return it and asked instead for the vegetarian option which was over salted and highly unimaginative.
Red wine was good though!
Great food and service. Door staff and waiters were lovely.
