Hawksmoor Spitalfields was one of the first steakhouses in town, and it’s still one of the best. Finishing with toffee pudding is mandatory.

Another wonderful night at a Hawksmoore restaurant. A great wine selection, lovely service, wonderfully cooked steaks and sides. It's not the cheapest option but there are no better steaks to be found in London, I've tried Goodmans, Goucho,Flat Iron and and the rest but Hawksmoore has consistently been the best since around 2010 when I first tried their food. If you like steak you must eat here!

I’ve been here a few times previously and it has always been 5 star in every aspect. This time it fell down a little in the service, and an extended wait for the food. Furthermore the stake was average rather than exceptional as it usually is; hence the 3 rather than 5 star ratings.

The service was great and the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the food was quite cold, I think perhaps because we had the last few roasts available. Quite noisy but lovely food.

Hawksmoor never fails to impress! We had an amazing dining experience for Sunday lunch there this week. The potted beef with Yorkshire puddings to start with is to die for. The Sunday dinner is great value but the drinks can be pricey. The service was outstanding and we shall be returning again very shortly. Thanks :)

Enjoyed lovely Sunday lunch with friends. Everything was perfect, as normal with a Hawkesmore. One minor, minor point. Wish there were more potatoes on the plate! If you’re a potato lover order extra to share you only get two little ones.

The steaks were FANTASTIC! Probably among the best meat I have ever eaten.

Very pricy though...

Close to 100 pounds/person.

That includes
1 Gin & tonic
2 glasses of wine (medium/low priced)
Steak with bearnaise sauce and french fries
Coffe

Had the rib-eye. Mid-rare. Melted in mouth. Ate mac and cheese and beef dripping fries for sides. Finished them. Warm chocolate tart for pud. Delicious. Will return. Will bring friends. Will probably have a bigger steak, just to have more steak to enjoy. Anchovy hollandaise was perfect for this steak. Can't really find fault, if I'm honest. If I'm being very picky, the table had an almost imperceptible wobble.

We've been to this branch several times before, & a couple of the others, so we know what to expect. This visit just left us a bit flat.
The good bits; our waitress was lovely (Hungarian lady), the starters & desserts were superb, cocktails great.
The let downs; we had a 400g sirloin this is a very cheeky way to add to the weight, it should have been taken off) & the rump was not 300g (I cut lots of these for restaurants).
We'd booked for our wedding anniversary. The table next to us was a birthday party; they got some complimentary desserts. The table in front of us also got 2 sticky toffee puddings, on a board with piped chocolate "Congratulations". Nothing for us though, despite the greeter asking me. I'm certainly not looking for a freebie but its vaguley annoying that the 2 tables around us had a fuss made & we didn't. I realise that that makes me sound precious' I'm not I just don't understand the point of asking if it was a special occasion & then doing nothing (given Hawksmoor's rep for service).
We also ordered a box of Rolos to take away; the waitress said there were no boxes left (she told us lots of people love the boxes & I confess, I wanted one too) so gave them to us in a kitchen tub, wrapped in tin foil. Still managed to charge me the full £10 for them though.
Overall, the meal was lovely, it's just the overall experience was average, especially given their self stated aims for hospitality, & the cost.

I read lots of positive reviews. The porterhouse steak was very fatty and not that well cooked. The desert however was superb.

This was my second visit and the first far exceeded the second. This time the steak (which should be the best bit) was overly salted which meant you couldn’t taste the meat. My steak was over cooked and my partner’s was under cooked (asked for different but they came out the same). The sides (mushrooms and spinach) were lovely and the stichelton hollandaise was very good. The front part of the restaurant is nicer to sit in as it’s less crowded. Service was relaxed but good.

We went to Hawksmoor for my birthday, bar staff were attentive, kind, efficient and really cared about their job and making a difference. I was early and James ensured a brilliant start to the evening.
Waitress was kind, efficient and made the evening flow.
Best ever (and we are experts) mash potato and gravy, forget the steaks, which were also superb, the mash potato was awesome.

I was looking for a good steak restaurant as they are in short supply and a friend recommended Hawksmoor as they had a nice evening and meal they several months ago , so on the back of this i booked a table , i can not complain about or fault the service or the ambience but the main reason for going was the food !
So we order the 900g T-bone and was so looking forward to a good steak , when the steak was brought out to us it look good but once we started to tuck in we found it very fatty and chewy plus was barely warm, the waiter did return it to the kitchen to heat up but that took a while by the time it return i had lost my appetite and felt very disappointed , we paid are bill which not cheap and left and will not be returning.

The Sunday roast we had was excellent. I was very late, arriving after my relatives were already eating, and even though the restaurant planned to keep my meal warm, they decided to provide me with a fresh plate instead. Our servers even made special drinks for us as two of us were “under the weather”! All in all, a wonderful evening with great food and awesome servers!

The food itself was good, the service however wasn't to great. We ordered x2 sides to go with our Roast which came around 15 minutes after we were served our food. They were very sparse with serving water, each table should have a carafe given to them instead of having to chase it up every 10 minutes.
Staff could of been a little friendlier too, I think for the price you expect more.

Good bye diner for a buddy and a great steak place to celebrate. Would have been great if the lobster was not soaked in butter but fresh so lactose intolerant folks could also do lobster and steak but otherwise the food was great. Wine list is covering great wines in the medium to high price category. Staff was friendly and attentive but when it is busy you are better not in a rush.
