What Insiders Are Saying
Hawksmoor Spitalfields was one of the first steakhouses in town, and it’s still one of the best. Finishing with toffee pudding is mandatory.
Food and drinks uniformly good, waitperson interested and attentive (and very patient with the really annoying people on the next table who seemed to have every possible food allergy and intolerance). I couldn't shake the feeling I was in a chain restaurant, albeit a very good one; consequently the price seemed a touch high. The whole experience could be improved upon by either a slightly less functional dining space, or a slightly lower price.
We had a lovely family meal here on Sunday. Really good table right up the back, where we sat - talked, ate and drunk for about 3 and a half hours lol. Great food and service. The Hawksmoor isn't cheap but i do think you get what you pay for.
Would definitely recommend it. Quite a fan of Hawksmoor and my favourite restaurant is always the Spitalfields one :)
Summer Set Menu (drink, starter, main & dessert for £35) was good value for money.
We had a really lovely meal here for our wedding anniversary, it was lovely just very expensive for what it was.
The food was amazing (pricey but expected) but the service was terrible. All waiters seemed very unfriendly which was a shame as it ruined a very special occasion.
Had an excellent lunch. The food was lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful.I can’t wait to get back and try another steak
Amazing food and excellent cocktails! This is one of the places we keep coming back when we're after excellent quality meat in London.
Felt very well looked after by waiter. Spot on level of service. Food great, it’s pricey but I don’t mind paying for quality. We sat in the restaurant in ground level - missing some atmosphere but overall we had a great meal
A little bit pricey but worth it - my favourite place
Wonderful Father’s Day meal here - my 7 yr old enjoyed her first ever Chateaubriand and declared it the best steak she’s ever had! Service could be a little slow at times but it was all so lovely and the staff so friendly that it really wasn’t an issue.
Always a great steak. Bone Marrow gravy is to die for. Good wine selection.
The food was excellent as always. I tried the fillet steak with marrow and onions and it exceeded all expectations. It was fantastically rich and tasty and really made for a great meal. The cocktails were going down very well and made for a lovely place to celebrate my wife’s birthday this year.
It’s hard to give full justice to this. Our waitress was great. The first two courses wonderful, but pudding took 45 minutes to arrive. That makes you notice that the noise levels are way too loud, the women’s toilets are a state and that actually, for what we got, it was overpriced. Yes, the staff were gracious in their explanation of the problem. Yes, we got desert for free. However, we get one shot at a family night out and we left feeling cheated. We won’t be back.
Fantastic venue buzzy vibe and ambiance great food great staff
Brilliant food as always. Friendly staff who were quick (a bit too quick) to clear away after our forks had hit the plates.
Would be good to have the facility to extend the time we had the table for. Two hours fly by...
Was far too noisy in the main restaurant. Shouty finance types made it hard to hear my date's conversation
Great sides. Nice cuts (though med-rare was partially almost raw). Good decor but too noisy to have a conversation if not impossible. Pricey, so good for occasions.
Knowledgable charming waiting staff that guide you in selecting your perfect cut of meat. Never have i eaten such a juicy steak. The side salad cut through it beautifully and the chips were crunch fingers of joy. I left feeling deeply satisfied but not overly full. The mark of a perfect meal!
Excellent, food and service as usual. Great anniversary dinner.
Excellent food and great service
Utterly brilliant. Never fails to hit the mark. Without question the best steaks in London.
The usual good buzz of a Hawksmoor combined with a cracking roast and top service. Only once choice for the roast dish so the order went in quick! Quite expensive but probably worth it because of the quality and taste - would definitely recommend.
The stake is always cooked very well but today was just outstanding!!
Personal touch to celebrate birthday was super great!
Service (people) - never disappointing! Thank you !!
Slow service but great food
Excellent experience as always....................
Waiter was fantastic, great service, great food
Really nice food, the steak was charred really nicely and the crab and scallops starters were moreish. And a big thumbs up to our male waiter too :)
Great location, great food, and amazing service. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and we had one of our best meals ever. Would 100% recommend.
This was Sunday roast at its finest. The only thing I would change is having an outside sitting area, like a beer garden. The service was great, food delicious, cocktails great.
Would come back!
Make no mistake it, Hawksmoore know how to make a deeecent steak.
Food, drinks and service was great. Wine a little expensive but ambience was a little weird. Tables seemed a little too close together which maybe the reason for that. We go to guildhall, 7 dials and air street which are our favourites because the setting a little more comfortable and spacious without being over crowded.
Over cooked and burnt steak, also mine was half fat.. 5 year anniversary ruined by a poor meal. Started crab was children portion.. nothing compared to air street
Fantastic meal. Also thank you to Owen for looking after us.
Realise it's a palace of steak but love the charcoal monkfish with plenty garlic. great cocktails, fast service which is always good for a (working) lunch.
Went for lunch. I’m hard of hearing and noise level was very high ( what is it these days with the hard surfaces ! buy some carpet already!) requested quieter part of restaurant but access was being repaired, however they found us a table their - good service.
Had crab for starters, lovely and fresh tasting but a very modest portion. Had 400g rib eye for main course, didn’t look that impressive. Ordered medium rare but cooked rare, didn’t complain as it tasted great. Excellent Bearnaise sauce. Dripping chips were a big disappointment, insipid and flavourless.
Normally I would go for a rib-eye, as I went for the lunch deal I had the rump - I'm sold, it was possibly the nicest steak I have ever had. The potted beef was mighty fine too. Staff were attentive and friendly.
Hawksmoor is definitely a restaurant to go back to.
Having not had the chance to have an evening out for a long time, my wife and I wanted something a bit special. Hawksmoor delivered and we are still reminiscing and smiling about the wonderful evening we enjoyed. Had some refreshing cocktails and then shared a porterhouse steak with cips and macaroni cheese. It was fantastic, we will be going again.
Went for my Wife’s birthday lunch. Steaks delicious as always. The ginger brew was incredible. The desserts were a pleasant surprise, one with a birthday plate and candle. Peanut butter shortbread was so good!! Friendly service. Love this place!
I sat down for a reservation at 9:30pm in the evening after travelling back to London from Geneva. This was my first experience at Hawksmoor. The sirloin on the bone was really well cooked, succulent and extremely tasty. I felt the level of the service was a little flat, maybe because I sat down so late to eat. I wasn't asked how my food was and it took a few minutes for me to flag someone down to get another drink. For me it just seemed everyone was concentrating on closing down and there was still people in the restaurant.
Nice setting decor...service excellent , food hugely disappointing. Wouldn’t go back for that reason.
Porterhouse was superb. Bone marrow was superb. Desserts were superb.
