We return to Hawksmoor in Spitalfields whenever we are in London & want to treat ourselves. Food is amazing, the restaurant beautiful & the staff are wonderful.
Had to wait for 15 minutes past our booking time, but this was to ensure that we had a booth suitable for our daughter and her high chair. The food was excellent, although I found the stilton hollandaise sauce to be too strong a flavour. The service was top class, with our waiter coming across as friendly and engaging.
Best roast dinner outside of mother’s house beef cooked to perfection. Very polite knowegable staff 5stars all round
Service was warm and friendly. The steak was cooked to perfection. 5 stars.
Very good cut of meat, great service and attention to details.
The food is great as always. I have been to Air Street, Covent Garden and so decided to try the Spitalfields branch of Hawksmoor. The food as always was great and our waitress was brilliant. However we were really disappointed with the drinks service to the table. We had asked for a glass of fizz with our salmon starter...the starter came and was finished and still no glass of fizz. Turned out the order hadn't gone through. Same thing seemed to happen with our red wine for the steak. Our waitress was amazing, handled it well and both ended up being free of charge but it is always a little disappointing, especially when it is a restaurant chain I know and love. I will certainly return to Hawksmoor but think Air Street is my favourite.
Fantastic as always. Keep up the good work! Amazing meat, sides and wine.
My home away from home!
Superb steak and fish. Service very good too. Highly recommended.
Went for my husband's birthday to try the steak. He thought it was the best steak he had ever tasted. Liked that the atmosphere was causal with no dress code. The chocolate dessert tasted amazing. There was a good choice of coctails too.
Great food and service. Staff made a fuss for a birthday which was a lovely touch. Good customer service!
Hawksmoor was a personal favorite for the last few years and I have many pleasant memories of eating there.
I was a very disappointed when I went on a Monday. The shortrib starter tasted overwhelmingly of fennel, the triple cooked chips were over salted, and our first drink order didn't arrive for 20 minutes, even through we were some of the first people there. This was especially strange as I've only had positive feedback for the wait staff and the food any other time I've been there.
The rib eye was good, but not particularly spectacular. The evening was saved by the mac and cheese side which was delicious.
Really great food, service and ambiance ruined by cost cutting short cuts which you do not expect with dinner for two at £160.
For instance, there was no need to empty the sediment from the end of the bottle of red wine into my glass. Careful decanting can avoid this. At £9.50 a glass you can do without a mouthful of dregs and sediment in with your last sip. Disgusting! Also, it would have been nice to have had chips that did not include inedible "bits of chips" packing out the bottom of the small serving bucket.
These issues could have been avoided with a little care. Unfortunately, they took the edge off of what was otherwise a good gastronomic experience, just beware of the red wine by the glass!
However, my wife isn't a steak fan like my son and I, so chose the Chicken, which had ran out, then chose the lemon sole, which had also ran out. Not great!
Absolutely banging roast - had it twice now and both times were delicious. Only comment is more roasties please!
Mother’s Day meal. Food was good, however it is very expensive and can not understand why you have to pay for peppercorn sauce plus bread when this is availed free of charge at competitor steak restaurant
I have been to all the London Hawksmoor and always have a great meal and service.
Nice relaxed place very popular and busy.casual dining.food nice disappointed with the scallops small and bland steak and fries nice
We went on a friday evening and found the restaurant lively and had a good feelling about it. Good bar downstairs where the staff were attentive and let us know when the table was ready etc. I have to say that we were dissapointed with the chateaubriand. We have had this dish a number of times at other good restaurants, but my wife felt that it had a 'livery' taste to it. Having asked for medium, it was rare in the middle, which we get, but it should have been cooked a bit longer. Having sent the centre back for a bit of re-cooking, it came back very very salty. Instead of just re-cooking, they had clearly seasoned again and with too much salt. It also lacked the 'char-grilled'
taste that we like so much when a steak is placed on a hot sizzling griddle, it looked like it had just been shoved in an oven. Spoilt the meal really. We should have stuck to a fillet steak each.
Seriously good - as ever. LOVE it here = the food and service are excellent.
Bone in RibEye just cannot be beaten. It is by far the best steak i have ever had and consistent after many visits
Amazing night, lovely food and wine. We had a great time, we’ll come back!
The food was outstanding! Service was fantastic, and the Sunday lunch nothing short of impeccable. Would definitely recommend, and will be coming back again.
Fabulous evening, fantastic food and excellent service.
Cannot fault a single thing. We had a fantastic evening. We ordered the Chateaubriand to share for mains and the steak was outstanding. Highly recommended.
Food was good. Waiter was pleasant. Portions are very large. Nice bar area to relax in before the meal. The one peeve was that the tables were a bit small.
Always love hawkesmoor. Fantastic food and service. The most amazing steak, EVER!
Enjoyed a lovely family evening on Saturday starting in the bar with delicious cocktails . The food was fabulous and catered to all our tastes . The beef was out of this world .The staff were welcoming and friendly and the service was discrete and attentive . The ambience was great and I would definitely recommend this venue for a thoroughly good night .
The steak was apparently fabulous but I had the chicken which arrived cold - I suspect it was waiting for the steak to be cooked.
Stick to their specialty and it's great!
one of my favs, never dissapoints - great service, good atmosphere and lovely food!
We had a nice experience however went there for Sunday roast and they ran out before we sat down. No on shared this with us so we were very disappointed.
Really nice restaurant and the food was superb. Sunday Roast is one of the best in London. They were super busy so it took away from the service ever so slightly but it was still great.
The Sticky toffee sundae dessert was absolutely amazing!!
Waitress was obviously close to ending her shift and it was palpable. No effort on her part to elevate the experience. Food was epic as always.
Outstanding. Prices are on the higher side here but it's backed up by great good and excellent service. Well worth it and absolutely delicious!
Hands down the best steak place in London, our visit to Hawksmoor at whichever branch never disappoints, the quality of the steak which are cooked to perfection are just amazing.
Booked online for a special treat.
Arrived after a 3 hour trip from out of town only to be told that all reservations were cancelled, due to a power failure that had happened hours earlier.
No effort made to find us alternative venue/booking. Could not be bothered to notify affected customers in advance by phone/email/text.
Power may have been out but I’m sure there was a Hawksmoor/OpenTable office somewhere that could have taken on that basic courtesy.
Stunning venue. It was my friends leaving do so we went for steak and it was simply sublime! Service was Stella too!
Had a booking for 8pm; turned up on time and was told to grab a cocktail in the a
bar and we would be seated in 2 minutes. Almost an hour later we mentioned that we were still waiting to be seated...clearly we had been forgotten about. Whilst at the bar red wine was spilt on my jacket by the barman. My steak was perfect; my friends not as he ordered, in fairness it was changed. Overall pretty disappointing.
I love Hawksmoor and usually the service is impeccable - friendly but professional.
On this occasion the service was only average and you don't expect that from Hawksmoor. Not sure whether the new refit at Spitalfields has meant new staff???
Steak was a little bit overcooked as well.
However, I will be back at Hawksmoor soon!
The food and service were excellent. When a staff member dropped a glass and it exploded over our table it was handled well and everything on our table was replaced with minimum fuss. We had asked for a table in a corner as one of us is hearing assisted but the table next to us were very raucous with lots of cheering etc. Not usual restaurant behaviour. Consequently our evening was not such a success in relation to the price paid.
Went to the hawksmore to celebrate our anniversary. As always great food, great service, great time. Thanks
