A really lovely lunch. We had booked as a special lunch for our wedding anniversary and selected Hayward’s because of reviews. It lived up to expectations and we enjoyed every bit of our meal. The gin cocktail was the gin tonic of my dreams. The food was all high quality with the beef and ox cheeks being expertly cooked and beautifully presented. We were delighted with the little extra special touch for our anniversary.

My second visit to Haywards and the food and service is outstanding. We went for the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. The presentation and flavours of each course was delicious. The souffle is the best I have tasted. Cannot wait to return!

Brilliant lunch at Hayward’s on Sunday to celebrate a special family occasion. The service was impeccable, food delicious and plentiful! I was impressed by the reviews online before booking, but it was even better than I hoped - really a wonderful restaurant with so many thoughtful touches. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Fantastic meal with superb service. Went for tasting menu which was excellent. Flight of wines definitely worth doing as eclectic with choices that I would generally not go for eg Greek wine from Santorini and a Slovakian wine both of which paired really well with the food and super interesting. Definitely Michelin quality food.

Slightly slow start probably due to many guests arriving around the same time, otherwise food and service were excellent as usual. Not the most atmospheric venue but the perfect choice for a quiet quality meal.

Haywards has to be the best fine-dining experience in this part of Essex. There are lots of decent places to eat in the Loughton/Buckhurst Hill/Chigwell/Epping area but none of them can match the experience at Haywards. Its very refines without being too stuffy and the food is simply brilliant. Service is attentive and friendly and the room is smart and uncluttered and very comfortable. Definitely a 10/10 on our visit.

I felt the menu was a little limited, the same with the range of beers. The beers I felt were expensive. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and explained all aspects of the meal, which was nice. Complimentary tasters from the chef were fun and delicious. We had freshly baked sour dough bread which was amazing.

I met a friend for lunch at Haywards on a Thursday, and found we were the only diners there. It's a somewhat incongruous place, because for me as a Londoner it feels "sort of in the middle of nowhere", although I'm sure if you're from Epping that isn't the case. Why it's interesting is the food is superb - modern European Cuisine served with real care. It's the sort of quality you might find in a French Village Restaurant with a recommendation in the Michelin Guide, and eclipses many vaunted London establishments. Ambiance is good, and the service was excellent. Portions were on the small side, but that still works if you have the bread, starter, main and dessert. I recommend it.

Excellent, as always! This is the best eating establishment in the area, I would say one of the best in Essex. It seems we are not alone with this opinion. Amanda and her very experience husband Jahdre run a wonderful establishment. We have dined her more than a dozen times and always have a great experience. Give your taste buds a treat, £37.25 for 2 courses lunch time is a great deal.

I would highly recommend this gem of a find! We have been a number of times and will continue to go. The head chef has phenomenal credentials and the talent is evident in very dish. We eat a lot in London and this place has the quality you you find in a top restaurant. Couldn't recommend the food enough!

Really enjoyed the tasting menu and the night at the restaurant, have eaten at a variety of Michelin starred restaurants and the tasting menu in my opinion was worthy of a star, there was a bit of a wait between courses but the plus side was there was no rush for us to get off the table, my partner wasn’t keen on the chocolate desert and the waiting staff changed for a very delicious soufflé instead! It was great! Many thanks

We had the taster menu. Food was absolutely delicious and nothing could be faulted. We did however feel that the wait time between each dish was too excessive (five courses over four hours). I also felt that the drinks could have been presented in a similar standard to the meal (ie I had a gin and tonic, had to pour in my own Schweppes, no lemon/slither of cucumber, thyme, berry...), husbands drink was served in a honey jar- a cheap touch). All in all a lovely evening.

Our new favourite restaurant. Beautifully cooked and presented food, delicately flavoured. Staff attentive and knowledgeable I would particularly recommend the 'paired wine' option for some innovative taste combinations.

Service was excellent. Good choice of wines and cocktails. The food is a culinary experience, whereby the food is well put together, even though it sounds a bit strange on the menu ( ie thyme ice cream! Which was delicious with the mandarin flavoured soufflé). Never disappointed!

I have dined at Haywards on several occasions. As usual the food and service were both excellent. Ambience was missing due to there only being two other diners on a Friday lunchtime. Despite this fact, my colleague and I were seated right next to the other diners. Why do restaurants do that? People like to be spread out so they can talk without being overheard, especially at lunchtime!!!

A little disappointed this time as the menu was almost the same as when we last visited at the end of January. If a restaurant expects to get repeat business the menu needs to be changed more often than once a quarter!
Food was well prepared and beautifully presented as usual and the service was impeccable.

I've been before but my husband's first visit on his birthday! It was a joy. He couldn't get over the quality of the food and the service was second to none. Amazing! Thankyou to the Chef and all at Haywards for making our visit so very special, right down to the "Happy Birthday" plate brought after our desserts with delicious sweets on and the event written in chocolate! Lots of happy smiles.
