What Insiders Are Saying
A Brooklyn Heights stand-by with upscale, old-fashioned food.
My worst dining experience ever!! It took them more than a hour to bring us a steak which was overcooked and my wife one that was very hard. You should look into this restaurant before it continues to be part of your restaurant selection.
Staff were accommodating as we celebrated our daughter’s birthday as a family, with our ages ranging from 59 to 1.5.
A menu full of delicious options. I particularly liked the small plate section. The crab cakes were perfection. The new space allows for excellent viewing of watching the world go by. I'll return again and again.
Pistachio & Goat cheese app was delicious! Salmon with three mustards was smothered a bit too much in mustard. Recommend lighter on the mustard. Honey ginger duckling was very tasty, however could've used more sauce. Mashed potato side was bland, needs something. Great location /atmosphere.
Henry’s End never disappoints. The food is always fresh & delicious, and the waitstaff is friendly & efficient. Over the many years we have dined at Henry’s End, we have never been disappointed.
Mark was as gracious as always. I have always enjoyed the warmth of those who work at Henry’s End. Even though there are new waters they fit in to that warmth and personal concern for the customers. I believe that Mark is the catalyst for that feeling. My association with Mark and Henry’s End for 15 years has made it my restaurant of choice.
Have been eating here for 30+ years. Mark and his staff never disappoints. The new place is open and airy and the outdoor seating is perfect for people watching.
Great good and service but too loud
Great as always. New location prefect transition from a block away and still a great local neighborhood place with international sophication
Love Henry’s End. Excellent food, wine selection, and always consistent. Head there for dinner soon!
Wonderful meal, wonderful ambiance. It is warm and friendly, with personal attention from Mark, the proprietor. You can sit outside or inside — both are nice and the food and wine are first class. The new location is even better than the old one and the experience can’t be beat. The tuna with capers is delicious
I took my Dad here after hearing about it from a friend. Excellent food in a great little neighborhood spot. The service was very friendly and attentive and he had a great time. The noise level really varied throughout the night based on how many tables were filled and while that was a concern for me at first, my dad really loved the restaurant.
Great food. Soft shell crabs were excellent. The new space is bright and open. Wine suggestions were spot on.
Well, it is true that everything changes. And sometimes that change is for the better. But in the world of restaurants, change is tricky. Henry's End use to be a wonderful, old-school New York neighborhood spot with a robust menu that had something even for the adventurous eater. Since it has moved to its new location (just up the street from the prior spot), the menu has become limited (while retaining a few favorites). The prices have gone up significantly (especially considering that the complimentary side of a couple of steamed veggies and a little rice -- such a wonderful addition that has been unceremoniously cut). More troublesome, several of the dishes seem to use the same base sauce (the Jamaican shrimp sauce now finds its way in to both the duck and lamb dishes!).
If you remember a time coming here for celebrations (they do still offer their "birthday discount" if you've signed previously) and also the warm-welcome of Bonnie, you will sorely feel the change. If you've never been, you'll likely think "eh--another over-priced NYC spot ... "
It ain't what it used to be!! Noise level borders on the intolerable. It used to be my favorite place in the heights. Not any more. I hope they address the noise level, some kind of ceiling baffles might help.
Fabulous food, wonderful full menu with tremendous variety for everyone in your party.
I've been dining here for years. Fantastic, ALWAYS! Incredibly consistent. Love the new location.
Really unique meat dishes on the menu. I had Elk Chops. Perfectly cooked, great service, highly recommend if you want interesting upscale food in a casual atmosphere.
Perfect evening for outside dining. Service and food was great. Requested outdoor seating and received it!
Although the food was good, the service was lacking. Only saw server when she took order (which we had to wait for her about 10 or 15 minutes after being seated) and when she gave us the check.
Wonderful! Love the new place! And having Albert always makes things better
As always, perfect! The New Henry's End is every bit as wonderful as the old one.
Kudos to the chef. Earlier in the week perfectly prepared Elk chops. Then on this visit perfectly prepared soft shell crab. Gracious and attentive service as well.
They may have moved to a new location less than 2 blocks away but have retained what makes them great- the charm, the great staff and the outstanding food. They’ve also kept their core of classic dishes in the menu.
They’ve also added- a great outdoor dining area out front.
While personally I felt the old spot was better suited as a warm spot on cold evenings, I now am happy to enjoy the longer summer daylight. Enjoying some of their lighter choices was a real treat. Starting with a chilled shrimp cocktail and then a bowl of penne with lobster with a cold glass of Lambrusco I was just as happy as I had been with a nice steak and a glass of hearty red.
Henry’s End has a new beginning.
Great service. They have an attentive and patient wait staff. The ambience and location are great too! Definitely coming back!
Longtime favorite. The elk chops last Sunday were perfectly cooked and marvelously tasty. The frites unfortunately were cooked in a preparation that made them a bit soggy. Without would have been preferable.
Excellent tuna with pungent salsa. Soft shell crab cooked just right. Nice wine list.
Welcomed very quickly and sat immediately. Felt the servers were a little inattentive once our order was placed. Food was amazing! A bit loud for good conversation but overall a great experience
Aside from the fact that we were never given any bread, service was ok, not outstanding. Waiter didn't check water, Owner had to do that. Food was very good. We were a little surprised that sides had to be ordered separately, since in the previous place they always came with dinner and were very nice! But we'll be back for sure!
Everything was lovely, food was delicious. Our reservation was honored promptly. I was taken aback by how noisy it was. A serene peaceful dinner you will not have here, but if you don’t mind that, everything else was superb.
The food was as remarkable as ever, and the service outstanding. However the noise level in the new space is extremely loud. Some sound deadening decoration is in order.
Pleasant restaurant in nice area. Good choice of menu and excellent beer and whisky card.
New venue is a plus- always dependably good food and friendly staff. Something for everyone!
The soft shell crabs with garlic butter were excellent. I have been coming to Henry's End for decades and they've always been a flourishing business. The restaurant has lost its ambiance in its new location, with the noise level extremely loud. Also, seating for two is limited with the location of seats awkward. It now has outdoor seating for those who want to dine al fresco. Reservations for two or more is a must, as they fill up fast. I live in the neighborhood and will return.
As always the food and wine were outstanding. The new place is a little more spacious. Service always great.
Great service. Server suggested we try the wine we order before getting the bottle and he was correct that it may be too funky for our taste. Soft shell crab was the best I’ve ever had. Always a great meal.
The new space is great. Lots of natural light. Food and service excellent as usual.
It is always hard when an old friend changes, and I confess that I was worried reading reviews about the new location. My husband and I have dined at Henry's End for 20+ years, and loved it, quirks and all. But how could we not visit the new location, with an open mind? We were not disappointed. Yes, the space is different, but the food remains excellent, Mark is still there, and he has retained all the magnificent staff who love Henry's End as much as we do. Our beloved neighborhood gem is still a gem, thanks to Mark and the restaurant's marvelous staff.
Service was outstanding; food was good. Drinks were. A bit pricey.
