What Insiders Are Saying
Hereford Road looks modern, but the food is traditional British. And despite being in Notting Hill, it’s very reasonably priced.
Really lovely evening here. Food was great and can't fault the service. Highly recommended.
Randomly chosen after an afternoon at the Design Museum - Kubrick, but that’s a different review- what a great find Hereford Road is.. relaxed, casual.. but with great attentive staff and a brilliant menu- Thank you to the chef...for the best kidneys for a long long time... great value we will come again soon.. honest
Consistently delicious food in an easy, unfussy atmosphere. Great servers.
Great British food, will definitely recommend to others.
One of my favorite places to eat in London. Warm staff, comfortable atomosphere, and delicious food.
Good Food - staff a little too reserved and not overly welcoming
Hereford Road is the local restaurant you wished you had at the end of your road. Delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere. I can always eat everything on the menu!
I believe it is a perfect local restaurant. Unpretentious and yet the menu is well thought through. The smoke eel was delicious and we went for an Hungarian wine that was interesting. Lovely service and enjoyed the side by side seating "lounge" style.
Had a very pleasant dinner here one Thursday night. The food was excellent - how really tasty British food can be these days - and the service and ambience were good too. I really appreciated the fact that their tables for two are nice and spacious and not lined up in a closely packed row (as in so many restaurants in London these days). Similarly, there was no pressure to hand the table back after a set time. I will definitely go back.
Brilliant lunch, delicious food and lovely service! Also, great value for a set menu, 3 courses for £15.50.
Outstanding Sunday Lunch, but all the food is fabulous and unbelievably priced. The quality of the ingredients bought is tip top and the menu is so very reasonable . We go very often and are never ever disappointed.
The menu is changed daily, how fabulous is that and how indicative of the freshness apart from the imagination.
Simplicity at its very best, its in the top four restaurants in London for us.
The perfect neighbourhood restaurant - good for special occasions, too. Lovely, welcoming staff and delicious, unfussy food, not expensive.
Excellent selection of game dishes, my rabbit was cooked to perfection. Nice wine list too. Very reasonable for the quality of the food. We just moved to Notting Hill, we will definitely be back.
The food was good. The male servers were pretentious and basically ignored us. The ladies that cleared plates and checked waters were very kind and attentive. Would likely not repeat the visit with so many great options in NH.
always a good standard of cooking - maybe the Yorkshire Pudding with the Roast Beef could have been a bit better but the meat itself was quality
Excellent lunch in a very pleasant dining room with an open kitchen
Good, simple food in a professional environment. Service a little flat.
Good value lunch in a slightly off the beaten track location (though the chi-chi end of Westbourne Grove, and Portobello aren't very far away). Reasonable choices and good portion sizes that you often don't get at more 'up-scale' venues offering set lunch deals. Half litre options on wines gives extra choices if you're not planning a full blow-out.
Real and honest food. The manager very professional and overall good service.
We were very pleasantly surprised. When we entered the restaurant it did not look as good as on the website but our experience was great . A bit noisy but then we are in our 70s.
Would certainly recommend to others.
Small portions, pudding cold in the middle and service poor
Simple old-school good cooking...great ingredients and not too much done to them. The food is always a treat and the old-world wine list is a delight. A neighbourhood treasure
Menus anglais et variés. Cuisine colorée et créative, cuisine de produits locaux et frais. Tout est fait maison.
Great food with local Ingredients and fantastic cooking. Loved the pan-seared duck liver and the Onger steak. Lentil and mushrooms side was also amazing. Excellent service and wine recos. Will definitely visit again.
Very nice British menu, with some classic favs such as duck lovers with green beans and devilled kidneys n mash. Overseas business guests loved it. Only ask would be to add cocktails to the drinks menu.
Hereford Road is a great local restaurant with simple yet delicious and inventive food and lovely service.
I was disappointed, the waiting staff seemed stressed, they were quite hard to get hold of when we needed them, and rather than attentively checking all the tables, were rushing up and down the restaurant aisles. My guest who had come down from Scotland and was looking forward to it said he didn't think it was worth a 2nd visit. The food was nice, but a bit odd, the hake was served with a cold , bitter, crunchy salad, which didn't really work, it needed green veg and mash, so not exciting, but we enjoyed the wine suggestion and the smoked eel was delicious.
This is a fabulous restaurant. Everything is right. Very rare.
Excellent food, drink and service. Great ingredients cooked impeccably
Great restaurant. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Food is amazing and the menu changes every day.
Third visit now and this continues to be an understated delight. Beautiful produce, lovingly prepared.
I had specifically asked for a quiet table but I am not sure there is such a thing at Hereford Road ( maybe one table on the upper level which we were not allocated) . We were bringing an elderly guest who might well have returned many times in the future but it clearly was not a place for him. The service was very slow and inattentive and the noise level was absolutely impossible. A pity, as the cooking was pretty good.
Starter was good. Sunday roast was ok, but not amazing.
Really long wait between the starter and the main.
Always a must when we are in London. Superbly cooked, good quality grub. Always a good selection of meat and fish mains, and divine potted crab and mussels in cider for starters. Excellent choice of wine.
Great place for enjoying a Sunday roast! The food is excellent and people very friendly too.
Excellent season dishes. I had the Guinea Fowl with lentils others in my party had hake (which was very good). Good choice of reasonable prices wine. However, a cover charge of £2 per person appeared on the bill and I saw no mention of that on the menu. With that and 12.5% service charge the price was slightly higher than expected.
Very impressed with this restaurant, the layout is very good, nice welcome, we liked the choice of wines (with organic choices available) and a very good Bulgarian red and the advice given to us to help us select. Good lighting, so important and often overlooked and very comfortable well laid out seating. On top of that are food was delicious, served to order, hot, good portions and side orders.
I was extremely impressed by Hereford Road. Service was excellent and we were offered a large table in the quiet room. Everyone of the dishes we ordered was outstanding, great ingredients treated simply and cooked exactly as they should be. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality. I cannot think of a better restaurant of its type in London and we have been to most!
I have used this restaurant many many times and I find it always to be excellent and the staff are fun and really well informed and the food is prepared from scratch and generally fabulous. The wine list is interesting and reasonably priced it is like a bit like a super high-end Gastro pub. The food is really creative. It’s a great place.
Neighbourhood restaurants don't get better than this. Rather encouraging that a famous food reviewer was at a table, not far away, just waiting for her lunch!
