The quality of food selection and preparation has been maintained over the many years that we have come to Hereford Road. Food is nicely seasoned and prepared, and there is always a good selection. The wines are also well selected. Prices have remained reasonable. This is one of our most favorite London restaurants, and it has never disappointed us.

We enjoyed our food very much. We had tasty, fresh starters followed by excellent main courses. The pork t bone had delicious flavour and was accompanied by a good selection of vegetables. The roast beef and roast chicken were also much liked. Overall it was a very good meal and great value. The service was friendly and just attentive enough. Highly recommended.

Although I've left quite a few reviews for Hereford Road, I feel compelled to leave another to say how much we enjoyed the whole experience once more. I love the pared back but yet sophisticated menu, always good service and just a real neighbourhood gem.

This restaurant is constantly amazing. If you are in London you have to visit this restaurant. Tom and the crew make you feel welcome and serve superb British food. We love the ever changing menu and dine here as often as we can.

This is our favourite neighbourhood restaurant and never disappoints. The focus is on high-quality British meat, fish, poultry and game, simply but expertly cooked. I had potted crab on thick slices of char-grilled toast, followed by pan-fried skate with roast cauliflower and capers. My companion had a smoked mackerel salad followed by venison with purple sprouting broccoli. The wine list is fairly short but interesting. The puddings were very tempting but we didn't feel we could do them justice on this occasion as servings are generous. The owner/head chef, Tom, is one of the nicest (and best) restaurateurs I've ever met. Long may Hereford Road continue.

Passable, but the food was nothing special. Guinea fowl was leg rather than breast, and didn't fall from the bone. Quite the opposite. Sides of new potatoes and vegetables small, with the latter consisting of a few leaves of cabbage only. Plates were small, to match the servings. Pork chop mustard sauce was watery. Rice pudding was good but, again, a small serving. Not great value for money and wouldn't hurry back.

I was recommended the Hereford Road by a friend and booked to take some American friends who were staying nearby. Slightly difficult to locate because the sign is on the awning above and in the dark not obvious, though this shouldn’t put one off. The interiors was much better than photos on the internet, though slightly noisy because full, we contributed to this! There was nothing on the menu I wouldn’t have selected, the Skate I had was the best ever and our guests were highly impressed with choices and prices. A wonderful evening all round. Thank you and will be back.

The Sunday roast was superb, extremely tasty. You can tell the meat is very good quality and the Yorkshire puddings are the best any of us have had (and half of the table are originally from Leeds) . The waitress was also extremely kind and lovely. Thanks for a wonderful Sunday afternoon.

I was desperate to go here for food as I've heard so many great things. We opted for Sunday lunch as it's a nice 15 minute stroll from home. Highlights - the chicken livers were cooked perfectly as was the beef. Lowlights - we weren't offered bread with the chicken livers or smoked mackerel starter. All other tables did receive the doughy treat! Service was not friendly but not unfriendly I'd call it beige. The cheese course was a shocker. 3 small pieces of brie with over cooked biscuits that could break a tooth! The wine was nice. Will I go back? Not in a hurry as there are lots of restaurants in the area.

I love Hereford Rd, but on this occasion, having ordered the barley vegetarian dish, the portion was so small that I came home and had to eat something else. Weird. It was more like a stater. My friends had nice food and were laughing at mine.

Hereford Road continues to deliver outstanding quality food - and the set lunch menu which we had is truly great value for money. Everything super fresh and the mackerel over charcoal done to perfection. Relaxing ambience and great service all make for a very enjoyable experience.

Very nice food combined with bad, unmotivated, at time rude service in a very worn out locale. Too bad because the food was actually quite good. The handicapped bathroom was claimed to be out of commission forcing the use of stairs

The Hereford has been my favorite restaurant since it opened. I live ten minutes away and wish I lived nearer. Tom always produces delicious dishes of honest accomplished food at a very reasonable cost. All his staff are friendly and exacting. The Hereford is a casual unpretentious delight.

Roast beef okay but parsnips anaemic looking, roast potatoes very small and not enough green veg. Service pretty disappointing - plates banged down without a word, no check back, no salt / pepper offered, (had to find a waiter etc). Expected a little better for the price so went elsewhere for dessert and probably wouldn't return.

After going to Hereford Road dozens of times these past 10 years, the host - the gaunt, lugubrious Spanish man - actually flashed a look of recognition and a smile - but only for a second. It could have been an involuntary rictus. I and my friends keep going back for the cuisine - not for any warm and fuzzy feelings of welcome and hospitality. The chef/owner deserves better.
