Afternoon Tea | St. Albans, St. Albans

Took my nan for afternoon tea and the service we both received was amazing. The staff couldn’t do enough for us they come over to check if there was anything else we wanted and as it was my nans birthday they made us a mocktail each and on the cakes that come with the afternoon tea they made a little one for my nan and put happy birthday on it for me. The catered for me being vegetarian and even brought sandwiches over on a separate plate for me. Just everything was brilliant and they have a lot of attention for detail. We went on a Monday early afternoon and it was quite and relaxing we didn’t feel rushed and was made to feel very welcome. More

We had a lovely birthday meal for 5 of us. Food was fantastic. They would do as mild or spicy as you would like it. Good service. Nice touch with a birthday song and cupcake. Would definitely recommend. More

We spent a very pleasant Sunday afternoon in here on a cold December Day. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for Christmas, the food was fantastic and the service very good. £35 for 3 courses we felt was very good value and they had a well-balanced wine list from variety to cost POV. More

We went as a group of six friends for my husbands birthday, the food was really good and the staff were attentive with out being to pushy. The only let down for us was that there wasn't any live music, we asked the head waiter why and was told that the singer had phoned in late in the afternoon to say he was unwell and couldn't perform, this did spoil the evening for us slightly as the music was the reason we chose The Gables, it would have been better if the waiters had told us the situation rather than having to ask. In the heart of the Hertfordshire countryside, the Bright Star Pub overlooks the Peters Green village green and offers the most amazing view of the sun setting.
This beautiful country pub was first recorded as a 'beerhouse' around 1850, when it was run by shopkeeper George Griggs and his wife, serving the local community not only with ale but also general groceries and local farm produce.
With a good selection of McMullen local cask ales, beer, spirits and wine the Bright Star Pub makes a perfect place to visit whether you are local or enjoying a drive out in the country. Peters Green is just a few miles from Harpenden, Luton and Hitchin and is noted for it's excellent walks. Sitting on the Chiltern Cycleway, the Bright Star pub is a dog friendly country pub, very popular with walkers, ramblers and cyclists and you will often find horses tied up outside!More
