We visit this restaurant as often as possible, as it is our favourite place to eat. Nice welcome and lovely food choice.
we visited this restaurant twice in our weeks holiday in Burford. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The menu is varied and with a good choice. Local beers are on offer as well as a good wine selection.
Historical building, great service, well thought-out menu, very tasty food.
Excellent food and great service. Although it was very busy, the staff took the time to chat and interact with us.
The food, staff and services provided by them were all excellent. They were great with my little one and the pug.
There is just one thing I'd comment on - and it wasn't such a biggie, else I'd have mentioned it to the pub at the time - is that they gave us a room that has stairs that goes down to the cave restaurant in the cellar. I mentioned we were with a 1 year old at the time of booking so they could set up the high chair (which they did), but a toddler and staircase with no gate is a bad bad mix! But if I thought I wasn't able to keep her from trying to rumble down the stairs, I'd have asked to change table, and turns out she behaved anyway :-)
Relaxing weekend with my partner
Really nice food and a lovely welcome by the staff, we will be going back again at sometime soon.
On arrival the staff were very friendly. The restaurant felt cosy but there was a very sad looking Christmas tree next to our table. We had steak and ale pies which were delicious but the mash had obviously been reheated and the vegetables were a little to al dente. My husband had the ribs which he said were delicious.
A mixed review I think.
A lovely setting, great food and friendly staff. Would recommend it without reservation.
Lovely food, but service was slow! Was not busy as it was a Tuesday evening. But overall, I'm sure we will return!
We realy enjoyed the excellent food and wine in a relaxing atmosphere.
The service was perfect. The portions were correct and .... most of all we were happy there !!!
The food was amazing. We would defiantly return to the Highway Inn when in the Cotswolds. It was very central, room was good. Food was delicious and service great.
We had a lovely evening and food was quite good but service was sketchy and a bit disappointing, servers twice came to the table to take an order, got distracted and walked away leaving us feeling as though we had suddenly turned invisible. Have been before and the service was better so wouldn't write it off completely but shows it can be poor!
Good value food backed up with excellent service in this quaint 15th century inn, that is ideal for families, wi fi available too and well worth a visit if in the Burford area.
Delicious, inventive great food. Sensible wine list. Belly pork with chorizo and black pudding is a great choice. Indulgent chocolate dessert topped off the night.
An old pub with rooms serving good good in decent portions on the high street. We were there for Saturday lunch. Nice to have sandwich options as well as meals. Only criticism is the piped music - not really required.
