Went here with friends and family for brunch for my birthday. Was a great afternoon. And the French toast was amazing.
Such a lovely brunch. I wasn’t expecting there to be a string quarter playing! Such a lovely atmosphere and great value food
Lovely live music throughout brunch, yet the place was pleasantly quiet for conversation. I was surprised by the almond milk matcha latte. I will be coming back!
Gréât as usual!! Good service super good food and nice ambiance. Excellent cocktails
This is one of my favourite restaurants in London and I took my boyfriend for Valentine's Day, he loved it too! Amazing cocktails, amazing food and amazing ambience.
We had such a lovely meal here. Thanks so much, Mrs W
The staff were very sour faced and unhelpful. We didn’t receive exactly what we ordered and then were charged still and had to ask that the food that didn’t turn up was removed from the bill. The food was very standard, nothing special. Cocktails were good, and the decor and ambiance was nice. Just let down by the service.
Very welcoming atmosphere. It feels exclusive (live music, seems spacious), but at the same time down to earth (excellent food for a fair price, approachable waiters).
Very good breakfast menu, good value and nice range of options. Good sized to large portions.
Extra bonus of a string quartet playing
The service was terrible, very inattentive - we had to get up from our table to attract servers multiple times.
We were disappointed - let down by average to poor service. The first person we encountered - one of the waiters - offered no welcome and was rather aloof. Someone else helped us to our table - with an equal lack of enthusiasm. Our waiter refrained from smiling throughout the evening. We had to order our second round of drinks three times and had finished our mains by the time they arrived. The food was okay to good, if rather expensive for what it was. I wouldn't go back, nor recommend it to friends. Our very average to below average experience would put me off recommending ACE Hotel (and we're big fans of other ACE Hotels we've stayed in and eaten at).
One of the favourite brunch spot in East Lunch. Great food and services
Really beautifully designed, and staff were absolutely charming and very service orientated. Food was extremely disappointing, had the kale salad and chicken and felt like it can just come out of the fridge, not what you want on a very wet cold Friday , shame as I wouldn’t return so readily due to the food.
Good food. Good drinks. Shocking company. Unfortunately we were sat behind the most obnoxious woman to ever walk the earth. It was like she’d had all of her manners extracted at birth. She was loud, swore at the top of her voice and beckoned the staff like she owned them. 10/10 disgusting human. The staff handled it as best they could. We left early. The manager offered us a drink each on the house, but this kind gesture was unnecessary. After all, it wasn’t his fault that Ms. Obnoxious exited the womb and somehow ended up at the Ace. I only hope that someone drop kicked that classless excuse of a human being out of the door soon after our meal, so that people aren’t still listening to her nonsense. How doubly ironic to go to the Hoi Polloi, only to be seated next to the great unwashed.
Nowhere near enough gravy. Like a gravy ration... chef kept sending thimbles out!!!😳
Good location and decor with friendly staff. Food was unexpectedly great.
Really bad service. It was very quiet but still took x3 servers to take us to our table. They took our orders wrong twice including forgetting to order one of the main meals. We were charged for items we didn’t have. Service was slow. And they sat us as far away from the Sunday afternoon. String quartet as they could, despite empty tables being nearer. Really disappointing. Food was average to good though.
Excellent efficient service. Lovely food and pleasant ambience with the musicians playing.
Great tea experience. Atmosphere was hipster, but friendly. Dogs, kids, lots of space in booths. Great food, drinks. Service was lackluster, but did not detract from the experience. Would come back again. Great value for high tea experience.
Go here! If it's at the weekend, get the pancakes!
It was very long... and the waiter wasn't really kind.
Food was solid. Service was just terrible. This is a place for those who want to feel in the “scene”.
Very good food, 4 of us went, 3 had the onglet steak which was beautiful and we shared some cauliflower cheese and some dripping chips, it was lovely. The other guest had beef tartare which can be ordered as either a starter or a main, he ordered the main and shared the sides with us and he thoroughly enjoyed it. The only criticism is the ambience, or lack of. It was a very strange setting- maybe it was because we were put in a corner by ourselves. Regardless, it was an odd setting but nonetheless beautiful food. My sister and I finished with sticky toffee pudding which was great and my other sister had a dessert to do with Irish coffee- all in all, a good evening.
Very cool spot in Shoreditch. Nice relaxed vibe and good menu options.
Food and ambience were great but the service left a bit to be desired. Staff seemed a bit confused/disengaged and didn’t even offer a dessert menu or tea/coffee after our main. It was also a member of our party’s birthday which we told them on arrival but this was not acknowledged.
Absolutely love this restaurant! Great atmosphere, delicious food and staff are always friendly. Never disappoints. Plus, great for people watching, lots of interesting fashion to feast on...
Well decent. Particularly enjoyed the Boss It beverage to quench my thirst.
Lovely food and a string quartet turned up and played in the middle of brunch
I have been to Hoi Polloi previously and liked it however this time I was extremely underwhelmed.
The food was very average, a bit undercooked and not particularly tasty.
£80 for lunch without alcohol should have been a really good meal, but it was not worth the money.
My boyfriend had a crab starter which was £10.50 and it was just crab piled onto loads of fennel and wasn’t tasty or carefully prepared. Flavour were average.
I would not go here again, there are far nicer places in London to eat for the same cost or less.
The staff was not friendly at all.
Food was ok, full english breakfast was so so, eggs benedict was good but the hollandaise sauce is a tinge too sour.
Fair experience overall in a nicely designed restaurant.
+: the place itself has a warm and chill vibe, homemade drinks nicely balanced, good selection of food
-: the dishes looked better on paper than it tasted unfortunately (the pie was too heavy, the lamb a bit too greasy, etc)
slow and clueless service, over styled und undercooked food
Went for NYE dinner and the service was absolutely horrible. Waited over an hour for our main entrees and it was a set menu! We did receive a small refund on our bill but it was not enough to make up for the night. Very hard to get a servers attention for drinks and even just water. The food was nothing special.
Staff were very accommodating food was outstanding considering it was a limited set New Years menu. Have been and would go again.
For an extra 75p I could’ve had fabulous fish and chips in J Sheekey. Distinctly average offering from the Bistrotheque crew.
Unbelievable long time to be served. Lost our drinks order then the food was cold
We brought some American friends who loved the restaurant. The service was exceptional and the food, delicious
Great vibe - perfect for a catch up brunch with friends. The string quartet’s pop covers provide a fun with a touch of class, a statement that also describes the decor. Very relaxed atmosphere. Staff are polite but sometimes not attentive enough as we waited for service often during my last visit. However, I’ve been serval times and this is not always the case. Overall, I’d definitely recommend.
Very friendly staff . Good food . Very nice setting I love the lighting sweet and soft .
We went for Christmas lunch. The food was great and I was impressed by the friendly staff. We plan on going back
