We had breakfast and the menu’s great value for money. Also a treat to have a live string quartet on the weekends.
Had a lovely early lunch with a delightful staff friendly, helpful.
The food is god a bit uneven but overall quite satisfactory.
Will come back.....
We came for breakfast for my Husband's birthday. Food was great, and they also went out of their way to give him a small complimentary treat for his birthday. Service was smooth and quick. Really relaxed atmosphere where you are made to feel welcome and not rushed.
Lovely brunch, great music. Especially liked the crispy roast potato side.
We had the Sunday roast beef, which was really very very good. The Yorkshire puddings were not the best but I have never had good Yorkshire pudding in a restaurant. Nice ambience, very relaxed, very nice people.
Come here for brunch quite a lot. Sometimes there is a band playing. Excellent ambiance and good service.
Always a pleasure, with nice people and a relaxed friendly ambiance.
They were totally understaffed. We had to ask for drinks. They forgot bread. We waited ages to be served. I write an email and spoke with staff earlier in the day as it was my friends 40th I asked for a cake with a candle. They forgot. I was quite upset. We were left with food in front of us we had to ask for it to be cleared. Waiter apologised at the end but was too late. More staff should be employed. It used to be the best place for service. Now awful.
Its like dining in Arctic Monkey's Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino - art deco lines, soft furnishings and wood panelling. And thats a good thing. The service was pretty faultless, but the food was somewhat bland and mediocre.
Would have loved to have had fewer sweets on the sweets tray and more of the mini toasted brioche and fried potato cakes with the shiracha mayo.
Delicious Sunday roast with pop songs played by a string quartet, what’s not to like!
Great atmosphere for brunch and they did not rush us to leave, we were able to chat for over 3 hours with our meal. Great place
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service.
Sunday roast is one of the best in London.
I regularly use Hoi Polloi as the staff are friendly and the food is good.
You are not rushed to leave the table and the noise level is perfect for meetings and friends catch ups.
Coffees are good too
Good cod and chips but service was a bit slow initially. It was a Sunday night so possibly quiet due to that. Wine was overpriced for what it was
Great central location and average menu options. Live string quartet was a lovely touch. Upon arriving, I did not find the staff to be particularly friendly or helpful. I was not warmly welcomed or shown to my table - there was no personal touch to the service. It wasn't a bad experience, but I would not return or recommend to friends.
Loved the atmosphere. The string quartet playing 'Barbie Girl' was a definite highlight!
Awesome Brunch menu and a resonabke price. Also had a string quartet with was super amazing. On the whole, food and atmosphere was 5 star
Once I found it (it's really not easy to find and it's hidden through a florist - no signs on the street, luckily I checked Google and amongst the blurb, it says it was in The Ace Hotel). Anyway, on entering there were a group playing string instruments. Lovely to walk into music like that.
We chose to have afternoon tea. As usual, far too much to each for me but nice tasty finger sandwiches and yummy scones.
We asked to take our left over cakes away, came across that we were the first people to ever ask for this but the waiter found us some pots to take our cakes away to munch on later.
Overall a lovely afternoon with my friends.
Had the large lamb salad here with a colleague from work, service was quick and ambiance is really nice. I did find £14 a bit pricey and was hungry not too long afterwards but would still recommend if price is not an issue
Went to celebrate my friends birthday for breakfast which was perfect. Good was great, there was live music and overall just a great experience. The juices were interesting, not the normal kind you get elsewhere.
Great food and great service on the day we went. You sort of feel like you’re in New York in the 70s! Love the decor...
Always brilliant every time! All so good and love the acoustics mean you can hear each other even when it’s busy and buzzy!
Amazing service, really enjoyable food. Had a really great evening. Thank you.
Trendy place in the heart of shorditch. Good service, delicious food, nice vibe!!
Breakfast rendevous to celebrate a birthday. Delicious food and imaginative juices in well-designed surroundings, although little daylight so easy to lose track of time. Impeccable service and surprise little birthday cake with a candle was a lovely touch. Would recommend.
Really attractive decor and a go to for a date or fun meal with friends. New classic cooking. Highly recommend.
Took my friends here for a birthday dinner & we were all so impressed! The staff were super attentive and extremely helpful! I’m vegan and there were multiple vegan options for starter main and dessert! And I got to have a chocolate browny desert (!!!!) for the first time since converting to veganism (which I was beautifully presented and tasted great)!
If I had been carrying cash I’d have happily tipped on top of the 12.5% service charge!
I’ll definitely go again and try the rest of the vegan options!!😋
Even thou England was playing in World Cup when we visited the restaurant and we expected delay in service we didn't expect the food to be so lacking. When searching for best places to eat in Shoreditch How Polloi come up regularly but it absolutely did not live up to this rating. the burgers were soggy and the chips were not great. Very unfortunately a poor meal all round.
Good food, good service. Could hear each other speak, although it wasn't overly busy. Great Desserts! Nice Sides
Fantastic design, its a gorgeous room to walk into - and then there was a string quartet playing for Sunday brunch... brilliant.
Good menu - the avocado with poached eggs and chili sauce was spicy - my spinach on the side was drenched in butter, which was good for me but not at all good for one of my vegan brunch mates.
Great drinks for detoxing and retoxing - a very fun experience. I would definitely be back.
Outstanding Sunday brunch experience. Spent 4 hours there enjoying the delightful food, coffee cocktails and music from the string quartet. Even got the kid to sleep for 2 hours to the music. Service was friendly and faultless throughout. Thoroughly recommend
I am totally in love with the Hoi Polloi!
Chef and the staff was one of a kind, where of course chef cooked the best ribeye 🥩 steak I have ever had!
And the waiter was the wittiest most food knowledgeable person to date!
And my date was awesome!
Great interior, enjoyed the string quartet playing over brunch, and the blueberry pancakes are delicious (although odd they cost more than their bacon counterpart).
I visited on the 23rd for brunch.
My friend had an incident at the restaurant and the manager Henri was so attentive and so were the staff.
We could not have asked for a better service.
Even prior to the incident the staff were excellent and made some great recommendations on drinks and food.
The atmosphere was lovely & the string quartet were brilliant.
Although I didn't enjoy the corn bread and the poached eggs were too runny for me, everything else was lovely.
We could not thank Henri & his staff enough.
I would definitely recommend this place.
Just really good! Felt looked after throughout our meal. The food and the cocktails were excellent.
Was absolutely fantastic! We went for Brunch. Great delicious gluten free options for me, and great food for every one else. The service was outstanding. We will be coming back!
Food was good, good sized portions. Lovely on a weekend when they have a string quartet playing.
