Food is lovely here but for the price certainly expect better service! Couldn’t get attention of servers all night - didn’t get a drink order taken until we had been sat there half an hour and even then had to get the attention of a waiter. And service progressed very similar. They are very polite however they require better training or more waiters to provide for the amount of customers.
I loved the customer services from all the stuff in the restaurant. The music level was great and the lighting was perfect. The food was outstanding and very delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.
Probably as good as it could be with all the Covid restrictions
Great destination venue, everything smoothly done in a lovely, buzzy room, service terrific. Excellent wine list, and careful advice is available (and recommended). The food is the best it could be of its kind. Don't go there if you are looking for 'good value' as it's distinctively pricey, but you're missing the point and probably wouldn't enjoy it as much as you really should.
The restaurant had a great ambience and service was mostly good, however we placed our order for drinks at the same time as food, which I would have expected to be served sooner for drinks. We also ordered bread with our starters but this was not delivered and we weren't checked on in adequate time to chase the bread.
Overall the food was nice, the portion sizes were good and the staff were friendly.
Fabulous food, great staff, wonderful experience.
Excellent service and staff who are friendly and knowledgeable of their menu and bar which has an amazing selection of gins
really disappointing evening. despite being less than 60% full they were clearly understaffed. it took over 25 minutes from sitting down to our first drink arriving. 50% off the round was offered at the time, then only 20% taken off on the bill. when queried they were not forthcoming with an explanation. the menu was limited and expensive (£24 for a pie or burger). have been here a number of times before, will no longer recommend on the basis of this visit.
Dear jpddd, I’m extremely disappointed to hear about your dinner experience in our restaurant . The lack of service you are describing is not up to our standards and I would like to apologize for the series of short falls you experienced which added negative touches to your time in the restaurant. I do hope that we will be able to welcome you back very soon again and I would be more than happy to assist with pre-arranging a table booking for your next visit.
Excellent from start to finish. Really thorough measures in place re COVId which were handled brilliantly by staff. We felt very safe and protected.
Each course was delicious and cooked to perfection and the martini was exceptional. Our first visit but won’t be our last. Really great food.
Excellent service, especially with nut allergy. All waiters wore masks, social distancing between tables, hand wipe provided.
Dining experience to suit all occasions! The team was lovely and the uniform was great.
Tough times at the moment, difficult to have ambience with hand gel and a themonitor but they are doing their best
We were able to sit out in the terrace area, which was lovely on probably the last summery day - but they did also have heaters. We also went on a Wednesday so enjoyed Welly Wednesday! Food, service, drinks all very good, we will come back!
Beautiful setting, delicious food - we went for Welly Wednesday! The beef wellington is the best we’ve ever eaten and the jus was perfect (we ordered another jug to share!) Scotch egg to start which was cooked to perfection and the complimentary warm sourdough with room temperature butter was a generous edition.
Only negative to the food was the side dishes, the potatoes could have been roasted for a fair bit longer and there was no green vegetable side that was warm. The cold green bean salad didn’t go so well with the hot food.
The service was good however the waitress forgot to bring our red wine that we ordered to have with the main and as she didn’t come to check on us throughout the meal so we finished the drinks we had with our starters and had no wine for our main course. Overall a really great midweek meal though! We would definitely go back! thank you
Such a lovely restaurant! Short focussed menu and staff working so hard to keep the atmosphere positive despite covid restrictions.
Only gripe is the excellent wine list is a bit at the expensive end - but then I am a lush!
We’ve been fans of the Holborn Dining Room for a while and had been waiting for it to reopen. A favourite is their beef wellington, and it’s only available one day a week.
So we booked the first one we could. We dined early and it seemed quiet to begin with. But it soon filled to its safe capacity and the usual buzz was back.
I don’t know if it was the absence that made my taste buds grow fonder, but the Wellington was better than I’d remembered. Absolutely stunning - maybe my favourite dish in my favourite restaurant.
Menu is reduced from previously, but still a good choice of dishes across all courses.
Extremely well looked after by attentive staff and still top notch food, this remains at the top of my favourites list!
I came here for brunch with a friend.
The service was quick and professional and the waffles were great. There was COVID 19 measures in place and I felt safe eating there.
Fantastic food and service as always. The chicken pie is a must try, the burger too!
All the puddings are delicious.
Service was impeccable and very friendly. Food was great, albeit with a reduced menu. An excellent evening
Had roast beef lunch. Ordered one glass of wine and one bottle. Single glass arrived after roast. Then told that selected bottle of wine was not available. Opted for an additional single glass. Staff apologetic but there are limited options of dry unoaked/ non Sauvignon Blanc varietals available by the glass.
Roast potatoes like pebbles. Other vegetables good. Yorkshire pudding was the best part.
Good restaurant and good food .
Nice service and beautiful place
This was our first weekend dining out since restrictions were lifted and so glad it was here.
The precautions taken to make us feel comfortable before and whilst dining were great.
Well done to your amazing staff who made everything appear effortless throughout and who delivered superb service.
Thank you for also welcoming our 4 month old pup, whose needs were tended to with care.
Can’t wait to visit again.
Fantastic everything, a little pricey would be my only criticism. £250 for a 3 course “Pie” meal!
Service can be very slow. Loads of staff, not always that attentive.
Thank you for such an amazing experience, we were made to feel very welcome admist the COVID-19 conditions.
Food was very tasty and service was excellent. Great setting, shame there was not more people given the circumstances. Pie was amazing.
Will definitely come back.
Probably the best meal I’ve ever eaten. The service was impeccable and the the food was worth every penny. I would highly recommend a visit.
Saw the chef on James Martin programme and my husband loved the idea of the black pudding pork pie that was featured but sadly that wasn’t on the menu. However we had a fabulous meal of curried mutton pie and a dessert of baked Alaska with pear and lemon. Plus a great wine flight of sparkling wines. We’ll certainly be going again.
Good British menu and tasty food. Nice setting and good portion sizes. If anything, a little loud.
Fantastic atmosphere, food, service, value, would thoroughly recommend.
Amazing setting and attentive staff
We went for a Saturday lunch and found the service a little lacklustre and lazy, but were happy to ignore this as all the other staff members who approached the table were very pleasant. My parter asked for his steak medium rare and it arrived looking like it had not seen a pan, he isn’t squeamish so ate 2/3 of it but it was a bit of a shame to ask for a preference and ignore it. My pie was also extremely salty, and the sides of chips and house salad were both over seasoned. Was by no means a terrible experience but these few niggles mean I wouldn’t want to come back considering the price tag.
Incredible service from start to finish.
The food was terrific.
Well worth the trip down from Manchester
Excellent ambience and attentive but discrete service. Food was outstanding. Only point is that the wine was on the pricey side (several tables of diners around us did not drink wine which tells that story more eloquently). Nonetheless, it was a superb meal which we thoroughly enjoyed and we would definitely return.
Staff were great, made the visit, barman and waiter particularly good! Restaurant Manager was also on her game.
Drinks were interesting and tasty, 2nd drink wasn't what I ordered, previous server rectified it immediately.
We had a lovely time.
Unfortunately.... the main event, Pie, missed every mark.
I have emailed the Head Chef.
Good food, great lunch setting, pleasant service- recommended
Friendly welcoming staff and great service. All food was excellent and of course the pies were the stars!
Maitre D refused to give us our table without saying we would eat breakfast (1130) despite entirely empty restaurant. Told we could perch on a table which had someone else on. We eventually gave in and said we'd have food as well as coffees. Then shown to small a table just by the bar, not in the main restaurant. Then rushed to order food by 1130 because they wanted to get ready for lunch serving. Coffee and food fine, but welcome and service terrible. Avoid.
Exceptionally good food; the pies are a "can't miss" experience when in London!
Food was just “ok”
Rather disappointing for the amount charged.
Good ambience but food was only average and therefore overpriced
We went after reading about the pies. A very grand looking room and busy for a Monday lunch. Had the steak and kidney pudding which were huge. Would recommend
