Holborn Dining Room
native breed chorizo, aioli
lemon, garlic butter
Thank you for such an amazing experience, we were made to feel very welcome admist the COVID-19 conditions.
Food was very tasty and service was excellent. Great setting, shame there was not more people given the circumstances. Pie was amazing.
Will definitely come back.
Probably the best meal I’ve ever eaten. The service was impeccable and the the food was worth every penny. I would highly recommend a visit.
Saw the chef on James Martin programme and my husband loved the idea of the black pudding pork pie that was featured but sadly that wasn’t on the menu. However we had a fabulous meal of curried mutton pie and a dessert of baked Alaska with pear and lemon. Plus a great wine flight of sparkling wines. We’ll certainly be going again.
Good British menu and tasty food. Nice setting and good portion sizes. If anything, a little loud.
Fantastic atmosphere, food, service, value, would thoroughly recommend.
Amazing setting and attentive staff
We went for a Saturday lunch and found the service a little lacklustre and lazy, but were happy to ignore this as all the other staff members who approached the table were very pleasant. My parter asked for his steak medium rare and it arrived looking like it had not seen a pan, he isn’t squeamish so ate 2/3 of it but it was a bit of a shame to ask for a preference and ignore it. My pie was also extremely salty, and the sides of chips and house salad were both over seasoned. Was by no means a terrible experience but these few niggles mean I wouldn’t want to come back considering the price tag.
Incredible service from start to finish.
The food was terrific.
Well worth the trip down from Manchester
Excellent ambience and attentive but discrete service. Food was outstanding. Only point is that the wine was on the pricey side (several tables of diners around us did not drink wine which tells that story more eloquently). Nonetheless, it was a superb meal which we thoroughly enjoyed and we would definitely return.
Staff were great, made the visit, barman and waiter particularly good! Restaurant Manager was also on her game.
Drinks were interesting and tasty, 2nd drink wasn't what I ordered, previous server rectified it immediately.
We had a lovely time.
Unfortunately.... the main event, Pie, missed every mark.
I have emailed the Head Chef.
Good food, great lunch setting, pleasant service- recommended
Friendly welcoming staff and great service. All food was excellent and of course the pies were the stars!
Maitre D refused to give us our table without saying we would eat breakfast (1130) despite entirely empty restaurant. Told we could perch on a table which had someone else on. We eventually gave in and said we'd have food as well as coffees. Then shown to small a table just by the bar, not in the main restaurant. Then rushed to order food by 1130 because they wanted to get ready for lunch serving. Coffee and food fine, but welcome and service terrible. Avoid.
Exceptionally good food; the pies are a "can't miss" experience when in London!
Food was just “ok”
Rather disappointing for the amount charged.
Good ambience but food was only average and therefore overpriced
We went after reading about the pies. A very grand looking room and busy for a Monday lunch. Had the steak and kidney pudding which were huge. Would recommend
Great Sunday lunch. Delicious roast beef. Very tender and cut like butter
Food was amazing as well as the service. Will definitely be visiting again!
Fab food... being from Yorkshire we know our pies and these were great pies. Husband had steak and kidney pudding I had chicken pie both with truffle fries mmmmmmm!! Good wine list, excellent service even shown their special pie room! Only one gripe but not really... we couldn’t find it as signage is very subtle and so were nearly half an hour late but this wasn’t a problem. Thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend to anyone!!
Food was outstanding.
Staff are great very hands on however focus too much on table turn around and was not able to relax and enjoy drinks after the meal
Nice enough place but a bit tourist heavy due to the location. Their starters and charcuterie were flavourfull but their mains a bit uneven. Service was well meaning but a bit chaotic.
Amazing food, lovely decor but music is a little too loud.
Drinks took half an hour to come, even though it was very quiet. Food small portions but nice.
Meat Pie, Mail dish, was very heavy and I could be satisfied with it. There were so many kinds of Gins also. Generally Alcohol was more expensive than usual.
We visited for Welly Wednesday as a birthday gift for somebody, having heard excellent things. Coincidentally we picked up a pie the week before to eat at home (the Tom Kerridge partnership) and it was absolutely delicious, so I was excited to dine in the restaurant itself. We were unfortunately quite surprised by how bland the Wellington was, and the sauce it came with, plus everything was not quite hot. The meat was tender and the pastry crisp, but the whole dish had no flavour. Very much style over substance. The Wellington portion was huge (at £29 a plate I'd expect it to be) but the portion sizes of the sides were tiny - £6 for a small ramekin of kale and bacon, £6 for a few carrots in a dish? Such a shame as the restaurant is beautiful and the service was attentive, and we drank a delicious carmenere which was good value. As we were there celebrating a birthday we didn't feel comfortable really complaining, however we did mention the main dishes were a little cold but this wasn't followed up on at all.
As a signature dish I expected so much more, and based on my experience I wouldn't be likely to recommend to a friend.
Amazing beef wellington.
Disappointing. The host was lovely but following, we had to actively catch the staff's attention to order, request more drinks,, get the bill. The chicken salad was dry and boring, the deserts ok but unremarkable. Overall there are much better locations in London. Shame.
We chose this location for a friend's engagement lunch to celebrate and send her off in style. The ambiance was great and the decor is simply superb. The staff were beyond helpful and professional. The food was good but I wasn't terribly impressed with the taste - I had the Artichoke, saffron & spelt risotto & it had a strong lemon-y taste and that was what saved its flavour.
We had a lovely meal and were very well looked after. Requested a quiet table when booking and were given just that and better, a nice corner seat/table which gave us the privacy we wanted.
My second visit to this wonderful establishment. This time took the family.(grown up family)..
I can honestly say the whole experience is completely faultless from entering to exiting..
The Holborn Dining Room was an absolutely fantastic experience. I had grilled prawns, a pork pie, and sticky toffee pudding with a side of vanilla ice cream. Each course was outstanding. The premises are in beautiful condition and the ambience is simply amazing. I cannot speak more highly of the service the Holborn Dining Room provided. All of the staff were attentive, courteous, knowledgeable, and made good suggestions. I would highly recommend Holborn Dining Room to a friend.
Table for 6 was well laid out with plenty of space . Two of the party were a vegan and a vegetarian and they had good options. Plus 14 year old enjoyed Holborn burger. Pace of service was good for us to get to Theatre on time. All round good experience.
Nice setting for lunch. Two salads as main course took longer than expected but were good once they’d arrived.
The food was overcooked, pretentious and expensive. The wine prices were ridiculous.
If I could add a 6th star I would. Simply perfect.
Food was good but the service on this occasion was poor. An order for a glass of grapefruit juice was missed and we had to ask three times before it was produced; toast which was ordered well-done was produced underdone and a request not to use contactless as a form of card payment was ignored (which could have been due to the volume levels in the restaurant, which was very noisy)
Came for a lunch meeting; we all had the pies which were delicious. Noise level was a bit high to have a comfortable conversation at times and service was a bit confused - seemed like they weren't always communicating with each other.
Always an enjoyable experience whether winning and dinning the wife or clients.
I am glad I booked, it was packed when we arrived. There was a really good vibe and energy coming from the restaurant. The food was excellent and there was a great choice of wines (always good lol). The service was very friendly and well timed. Look forward to returning again soon.
The experience was fantastic, and the food exemplary. It's expensive so a treat rather than a regular haunt but that said, worth every penny.
