Any restaurant that serves a Steak & Kidney pudding is worthy of respect. Melting, slow cooked beef in a rich, gravy based on proper meat stock. A slight reservation that the crust was fractionally crisper than the more chewy, suet pastry I was used to from my grandmother & mother's cooking was only a minor conern. Paired with buttery champ for a carb overload, it was a godsend that I could take advantage of the inspired opening times (basically all day) and eat at a more traditional 5 pm to give some time for digestion. The setting is a true Parisian brasserie, so bustling life & sounds not hushed whispers. Service was top-notch, especially the considerate offer of a newspaper when I arrived as I was eating alone. I shall return.
I’ve been coming for lunch since Rosewood reopened. Seems like the food standard is dropping
We ordered a shrimp burger and it was dry the bread was not fresh and the chips were too dry as well
As ever a fantastic experience at Holborn Dining Room. Pies to die for and fantastic service and ambience. Many thanks!
The service was excellent, and my requests from the booking were all met with a smile
Service was definitely lacking. Not enough staff.
A spacious dining room with excellent British Food, notably the pies. Good wine list too. Well staffed with attentive service. Sound system was a little loud for a Sunday evening but overall a very enjoyable occasion.
Absolutely amazing service and meal. The roast was incredible and the staff were so helpful and kind. Couldn’t recommend it more!
Great service. Good for business meetings as the noise level is low. Good selection of choice on the menu. A positive dining experience.
We had such a special lunch, thank you! Fantastic staff, delicious food and great attention to detail.
Travel back to Holborn Dining Room every time we are in Town.... same order, same fantastic food.
Love the environment, it was a really great dinner! The food was delicious and timely, would recommend!
Absolutely amazing. Staff were delightful, the food was delicious. Took my dad for his birthday and we both loved it. Their selection of gins is exceptional
Had pork pie, very salty. Ordered fries and green veg, very salty also. What happened did they spill the salt that day!
Always love coming here, the service is amazing as is the food.
Great service and wonderful experience. Food was fantastic
Lovely early evening meal with a friend. Great food. Excellent waiting staff. Fantastic ambience for us. It is a bit expensive, but it is in central London and it is really a good place to eat with friends.
Brilliant night and really enjoyed our visit to the restaurant, would highly recommend.
Only criticism is that that our food came too quickly. (we didn't have a starters, only mains) We ordered the pies as they were recommended and the menu states to allow 30mins, so we ordered a bottle of wine to enjoy while we waited. We had just been poured out first glass of wine when another server came over with our meals (felt like 5 mins since we ordered)
Lovely experience - bit pricey but perfect for a treat.
Good overall but
I have given Holborn Dining Room a clean sweep of 5 stars after a fantastic evening there with my wife and son. The restaurant overall is terrific - combining the elegance you would expect of the Rosewood hotel with incredibly friendly and informal but top-notch service to create a great vibe.
The food is also top-notch offering unfussy but memorable food. The restuarant's reputation for pies is well-deserved - the pork pie which virtually melts in your mouth will live long in the memory as will the scottish egg. Equally, though, the fish dishes we had, starter prawns, salt and pepper squid and the shrimp burger were also terrific and would not be out of place in a specialist fish restuarant. Thank you for a very fine evening.
We came to London already booked in for my husband to enjoy a proper English pork pie as there had been an item in our Sydney paper about the best English pie restaurants. He was not disappointed. To me it was absolutely wonderful to be in a truly British establishment, which not as easy to find as they used to be. Great restaurant, hotel and establishment. TRULY BRITISH
Very nice place, awesome food, awesome service, just love it
The signature Scott egg was really delicious.
A thoroughly underwhelming evening. Very average food, seriously below average service. We were seated in what we considered to be one of the worst tables, despite the restaurant being only half full. And from then on things went from bad to worse and tbh I can be bothered to relive the nightmare all over again other than to say I’m a strong believer in ‘you get what you pay for’. That’s not the case at Holborn Dining Room.
Wonderful ambiance, wonderful pies and great gin !!
Had the steak tartare for mains at £22. It came out as a starter size, was shocked. If you go to Cotes the steak Tartare is same size and a starter. Wont go back, small portions and big prices. Staff are ok, a bit jaded and unengaged so missing that personal vibe that gives restaurants character. Pit as the setting is beautiful.
We came for the Welly Wednesday and it did not disappoint. The ambiance is high end fancy but definitely warm and welcoming, and the dining room is sumptuous and romantically lit. We enjoyed the oysters, seafood salad, and Wellingtons, excellent recommendations from the somm. Staff works as a team to look after you and we never wanted for attention, everyone was lovely. Would highly recommend and it’ll keep a spot on the list to return to for special date nights.
Celebrated my husband's birthday. It was a Wednesday so we specifically came here to try the Beef Wellington. We weren't disappointed. It was perfect! Service was quick. It took a while to catch their attention when we wanted to order more wine in the middle of the meal. Also, they gave my husband a complimentary dessert with a lighted candle for him to blow. On the plate was written in chocolate 'happy birthday' which was an extra touch. Very happy we came here.
Probably the worst meal I have had in London! Food was terrible. Should have know when the waiter suggested my colleague had his beef medium well due to the fact the supply was unknown in terms of quality!!!
The staff were excellent in every way, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was great - lively without being overly loud.
We really enjoyed our meals. We shared a scotch egg and one of us had the sirloin and the other the rib-eye streaks. Both were delicious.
The waiters were perfect. There was no pressure to have more expensive drinks.
The atmosphere is relaxing. Soft furnishing keeps the noise level down.
I am looking forward to returning.
We stayed at Rosewood Hotel where the restaurant is. We ate breakfast here every day as it came with our package from the hotel. It was very good and we are so happy we got to try the pies. They are DELICIOUS! We went back twice for them. The Gin Bar there is also very good. It has so many options to choose from. The wait staff and bar staff are very helpful and nice.
Exceptional scotch egg and pastry. Great selection of gin cocktails and good service. A great choice for a special birthday dinner!
Great vibe in there. Food and service good.
Went there for lunch and had a grand cafe feel. Nice furniture.
Great food, great service, reassuringly expensive!
I’ve been there couple of times but just for drink, it’s my first time tried dinner, however the rib eye steak was very disappointing, the meat itself was very loose and lack of texture. Other than that all was ok.
Very slow service, too pricey for what it is, food is a hit and miss (we are 12 people and half liked half disliked the food quality). The biggest problem was it took them 90 minutes to take an order and we started our dinner 2,5 hours into our booking.
The food was very good, classics rather than creative cooking. The ambience was very.nice, all dark wood and candlelight. The service was very good too, efficient and informative. But wow the prices. I think I would need to be earning money in a currency other than pounds to be able to afford to come back. And they added a donation to the bill without asking me. Good quality overall, but I probably would not go back.
I sat at the bar, and the staff was SO welcoming, and made me feel so at ease as a singe diner.
