What Insiders Are Saying
The Holborn Dining Room is a big and grand, but still casual, all day restaurant inside the Rosewood Hotel, serving posh British comfort food.
This place is a gem. Took a "staycation" in London recently booking in the Rosemont and dining in the Holborn. The food and service were fantastic.
My wife loved the signature pies and i enjoyed the steak.
We loved it so much we came back for a weekend lunch with family. Ambiance is slightly different in the day (the room and lighting is much brighter), but still not loud which lent for good conversations and a sensational list of meal options.
They didn’t have a record of your booking and said they don’t deal with open table any more.
Poor service by you - how do I know that my bookings with you work?
Efficient friendly service and wonderful food, with refreshing takes on classic English dishes. Nothing was disappointing but be aware you need sides with pies! And that the wine list gets steep pretty quickly, even for this level of place.
What a gorgeous place! The food was irresistible- I only wish my tummy was bigger!
A fantastic evening. Thank you
As always - glamorous surroundings, great food and excellent service. What’s not to like?!
Great pies! Really good atmosphere and nice him cocktails/espresso martinis!
I go back again and again.
Been here a few times now. The ambience is elegant yet relaxed. Great for a catch up meal as you can actually hear each other!
Food is always spot on, even if a bit overpriced.
Couldn’t recommend the Sunday roast enough. Will be back again and again.
Overall it was fantastic!
A few tiny things could’ve made it perfect though! (Sauce with the pork pie needed to be thicker, more of the peas were needed with the chicken pie to balance out the slight dryness, more seasoning across the board)
However they do have the best sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever tasted in my life!
Will definitely be returning
First time here as it was recommended by a chef I work with who is friends with Calum Franklin.
From start to finish it was flawless.
Will 100% be back again.
I popped in for a quick early dinner and went for one of the pies for which this place is famous, and it was delicious. A large room that is also surprisingly cosy, with great service. Not cheap but worth it!
Environment and atmosphere are relaxed but chic, no noise, staff very professional and caring, food simply delicious. Highly recommended.
An overall good experience. The service was excellent and atmosphere pleasant, and well-suited to a small-group business lunch. The food was unexceptional.
First time to the Holborn Dining room, it won’t be my last. The food was so good, everything was packed with tones of flavour. The potato pie was a dream as well as the Dover Sole, the restaurant has an vast wine list too. The restaurant has friendly and welcoming staff and great atmosphere.
The menu was extensive but I did not look any further than the ‘pies’. I picked the chicken pie with a selection of sides and thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
The restaurant was very busy but the noise level was okay.
Great traditional English menu, great service that is not intrusive ... never felt rushed
I rarely venture East but this is on my limit - but just love
Fabulous dining room -lovely atmosphere
Great staff - the attention to a G and T - they have over 500 different gins = was amazing So after tasting - the end result with tonic and garnish was outstanding!
Worth testing my comfort zones heading east!
Service is attentive and excellent. Food is superb and delicious! Thank you.
A great restaurant / experience, in a fab setting to meet up with friends. Our party found the restaurant quite dark to read menus and wine lists.... not a lot you can do about this but use the torch on a iPhone Disappointed there was no good recommended House Wines to select on the wine list - essential for large party get-togethers - so end up paying £58 a bottle wines that you have little knowledge of, and too expensive for casual dining. Food was good although portions were small - Overall though we'd go back there
Fantastic restaurant with great food however be prepared to spend money.
Food was lovely. The only thing that should be mentioned is, if you are ordering from the Sunday roast menus, order more roast potatoes and veg as we didn't and had to make do with 3 roast potatoes and a small bowl of veg between two! Also Yorkshire don't come with all roasts like most nowadays, only with the beef. Apart from that it was very good, staff were attentive, but keep an eye on the prices as it can get pretty hefty!
We were somewhat disappointed dining here. The venue is great to look at but the acoustics are awful - not helped by background music belting out like the last day at Reading. The service is just not good enough in my opinion and although the food is ok it wont make your top 20. End on a positive - cocktails are many, varied & fun.
Lovely champagne cocktail in the Mirror Room! Lunch was spot on as always!
Really good food. Loads of choice. Nice atmosphere and setting. Service is just a little too slow sometimes.
Sempre fantastico cenare qui!
Overall the experience was good. The food was tasty and arrived rather quickly. The only issue was the constant interruptions for service. Between two staff members they were at our table side 15 times over the course of our seating (one hour). Great service is hard to find and I am certain this is their attempt. It left us feeling as thought we couldn’t have a conversation at all.
Excellent meal for a family special occasion. Attentive staff and nice ambiance
Good venue for breakfast meeting. Excellent location
I have been twice and am, unfortunately, always underwhelmed by the food.
We went to experience the famous pies and were not disappointed.
5/7 would go again.
A fancy location of wide dimensions, waiters in appropriate clothing by a designer, food is in a range of classics and pasties, quick service, so that you will have finished in short time
Very grand and architecturally interesting resturant. Food, wine and service were all good but it was expensive.
Had an excellent business lunch here. The service was efficient and friendly and the food quite good. Recommend the pies.
Great location and nice ambiance, this restaurant has UK sourced food. We had a business lunch for 4. The portions were quite small for the price paid. £21 for small fillets of stone bass. Sides were too small to share. I hope my customers had enough to eat. The quality was good, but not great value for money. The wine list however was superb, if expensive.
Delicious pies and gin, as hoped for! Nice, buzzy atmosphere too.
I had an amazing meal on Saturday night! Second time I had been to the restaurant and it was worth coming all the way from Glasgow! Food was top notch and the service was great. Thanks for a great night and looking forward to my next visit when I'm down in London.
Finding the restaurant in the hotel and getting in was rather an issue. We first walked into another restaurant, told the stewardess that we had a table at the Dining Room. She directed us and we set off. On the way we had to pass through a door, which we couldn’t do. Another employee was discussing something with another customer, but also seemed to make it his business to give us assistance we did not require. So, we had to wait in the middle of the garden for him to finish with the other customer, then quiz us and let us through. Finally we made it to the restaurant ...
This was the worst meal I have ever had dining out.
If I could give the food zero stars I would.
Absolutely disgusting tasting pork pie - cost £20 - unedible.
Great menu, good service, interseting gin bar. We loved the pies!
This restaurant is tucked away in a little oasis near Holborn station it’s very traditional however not stuffy both the front of house and the kitchen are at the top of their game with fantastic food and service delivered every time.
