Great views, lovely restaurant and staff. The food was really good. Thoroughly enjoyed eating at this restaurant.
My family and I was looking for that SPECIAL PLACE to celebrate my 65th birthday. High Tea at the Gotham did not disappoint. Beautiful surroundings, delicious food and exceptional service. The staff were friendly, attentive and made us feel very much at home. Their careful attention to our food 'likes and dislikes' meant we had a High Tea that each and every one of us could enjoy. We would highly recommend this venue for special occasions. Our only disappointment was there was no Public Bar to relax in after our meal. Thank you to everyone at the Gotham for a great time.
Went for afternoon tea, the food and service from the staff was amazing. Great place- even the toilets are lush!! Will definitely go again and would recommend to anyone
Just thought a little on the pricey side , had better and cheaper
A special birthday treat for my partner. Very attentive service from the restaurant manager and staff. Made to feel very special and cared for. Food was good - slightly limited menu. Wine choices very good. Love the decor and ambience. Table for 2 very small but positioned by a window so excellent night time views of the city. Good atmosphere and a little busier than I have seen before. Would recommend for a special occasion.
Lovely staff and beautiful surroundings. Brought us a glass of complimentary champagne for birthday which was a lovely touch. Charged a lot for water and food was nice but not really representative of cost. Menu was a little bit limited. Would definately return though.
Extremely disappointed at the food on offer. For £70, the value of the food was unbelievably poor. 4 slices of bread to make extremely average sandwiches, a few petit fours and miniature scones did not constitute a full afternoon tea for two.
Fabulous afternoon, food was amazing and very very posh, made slightly more comfortable by two of the waiters who seemed more locals and had a laugh with us making us feel more welcome than being out of our comfort zone in a place too posh for us usually!
The overall feeling from this evening was excellent. The staff are friendly, attentive but not over bearing. The venue is stylish and interesting. The food is all about the taste and flavour, portions are as you would expect in finer dining but three courses left me feeling pleasantly full.
A few drinks in the bar afterwards and all in all a fantastic night would recommend.
Lovely afternoon tea with great views, great food and great service. Pretty perfect
We went here for afternoon tea. The service was fantastic and the setting is lovely on the 6th floor. You get unlimited tea and coffee and not just refills, you can have any of the speciality coffees too. We have been twice now and the selection of sandwiches and cakes have been different both times. Would definitelt recommend.
Afternoon tea - food lovely but not enough. Needed a couple of extra sandwiches.
First visit and most definitely not the last! Amazing service and fantastically tasty food. Was completely blown away with the whole experience.
The afternon tea was served very nicely. The staff were polite, friendly and very attentive. However, value for money was extremely poor. The amount of food served on the stand was almost a joke. Probably ok if all the diners are on a diet and don't have an appetite. We had to ask for extra sandwiches. Or we were thinking of calling in at a cafe afterwards to fill up. We asked for extra sandmwiches and these were politely and swiftly brough, so they did redeem themselves. However we will not be going back. And no... We're not hugely greedy, we're definitely average in appetite and size!
Booked the Mother’s Day three course meal, on arrival we had 3 different waiters/waitresses take our drinks order and none of which communicated with each other so we waited nearly half an hour for drinks and water. Our starters, my mothers main and our desserts were nice, however my main meal of lamb was extremely chewy and resulted in me leaving most of it as it was that hard to cut. Service could have been better and perhaps being allocated just one waiter/waitress to deal with our orders would be more beneficial.
I was unfortunately really disappointed with the Mothers Day afternoon tea. The food was dry (particularly the tiny scones and sandwiches), we had to ask for tea 20 minutes after the food had been served and we didn't receive the box of chocolates or prosecco as promised in the deal. Disappointingly a case of style over over-priced substance.
booked table for four for a birthday meal / pre theatre. was given the ''mother’s day'' menu on arival and informed we had to choose from this, I then explained that we hadn’t booked the mother’s day menu, and asked for the a-la-carte menu, which the waitress had to ask her boss permission for. This was then granted and the correct menus given, only to go through the whole questioning scenario again with the drinks waiter, and then again with the food ordering waiter - we very nearly left at that point! we just ordered simple quick courses and left as quick as possible!
To make it worse there was a table of men next to us who were swearing constantly, one who arrived later on in a hoody and was not even dining - not a great impression for a special occasion and a venue like this.
Very disappointing having used the restaurant many times, even hiring the large dining room once before.
Beautiful space, rich history, gorgeous mocktails!
Food was lovely but portions very small so didn't feel good value for money. You would need 4 courses to feel like you have eaten a meal. Service was great but restaurant was cold.. I had to wrap up in my scarf :( I've also eaten afternoon tea here which was again lovely food and much better value for money
Poor vegetarian choice
I was still hungry after meal the food looked lovely and well presented but very small portions for the cost
Will not revisit, trying all fine dining restaurants in Manchester and to date Tattu on our last visit was far superior to this meal.
Food was so tasty! Very quiet atmosphere, however we went on a Sunday evening. Mainly couples dining so great for a date! The service was a little slow to what we are use to but the waiters were very very friendly and I knew they were happy go above and beyond. We were staying at the hotel for the night so we booked the Honey Restaurant to go with the Gotham experience. Overall we are glad we tried it, but I think we will probably go somewhere else with a little more atmosphere and more menu options! Great if you’re Restaurant enthusiast and would enjoy a different experience!
Restaurant was pleasant and staff helpful and friendly. Starter and dessert were nice, main a little overcooked and meagre in amount. Generally a bit over priced for what you get but coyld be a very nice venue with a bit more work. Bar above was nice but cocktails very pricey.
Really enjoyed afternoon tea here to celebrate my birthday with a few friends. Very friendly and polite staff, very tasty food and it had a lovely ambience.
Great location and great service. Looking forward to next time
Perfect date venue, very romantic and great views, lovely by the window
Great food and service from all concerned with our recent visit, highly recommended to everyone. Well worth it.
The venue itself was nice, however, it was very quiet and lacked ambience. Our writers forgot our drinks on two separate occasions.
Not worth the money.
I can't fault the food or the great selection of tea and coffee on offer, both were lovely. However, the whole experience felt very much like an afternoon tea production line. It didn't feel special or luxurious, despite the £50 bill for two. Lots of tables crammed together with no atmosphere to the restaurant whatsoever. Overall left disappointed.
We had a lovely visit to Honey for afternoon tea. We were made to feel very welcome by all of the staff. We spent the best part of 2 hours there and never felt like we were being rushed out. The only issue we had was that our one dietary request was overlooked. Whilst the food was delicious we left feeling slightly peckish as the sandwiches were tasty but small. Other than this we had a great evening.
We booked this restaurant for an NYE dinner. The only suitable slot was 17.30. As we were travelling from London, we wanted to try this restaurant as it sounds like one of the "places to be" in Manchester. The day before our booking the restaurant called us and we confirmed our booking. When we arrived at the restaurant we were shocked because they were almost closed / preparing for later. The host (I guess he was the manager) was extremely annoying and almost rude. Even we showed him the confirmation e-mail he made fun of the situation and refused to serve. Long story short, this place is a joke. Don't waste your time with it.
Service was fantastic but nobody else there so lacked any atmosphere.
We found Gotham, probably two years ago, because we were tired of some of the main restaurants in Manchester. So, we decided to start visiting some of the more refined hotel restaurants. The hotel staff are very gracious and the view from the restaurant is spectacular.
The food is amazingly good and the restaurant staff always courteous and charming.
Service was extremely slow. We waited 35 minutes to receive drinks for a party of 3. Food arrived well before drinks. Restaurant staff were totally oblivious to the fact that we were waiting so long. The restaurant was very quiet too!
The service was shocking, our drinks orders were wrong on two occasions as well as our main meals being incorrect. In personal service through out the meal. Will not be returning.
I booked table yet when we arrived no available table as there was a private party on. We had another event booked in city centre 90 minutes later therefore had no time to go elsewhere to eat.
Although adequate verbal apologies were given and we were offered to eat in the bar, that was the extent of the apology. No discount to apologise, it would have been a lovely gesture to offer us both a complimentary drink in bar maybe? Disappointed on the service front considering it's a 5 star establishment.
I don't believe in shouting at staff complaining, great establishments look after you because it's what they do. We were just another customer.
The food we ate in the bar was really good and served by a fab barman who chatted to us in length about origins of gin making. He treated us like valued customers at least.
It was the annual get together with my best friend who lives in Scotland. I wanted to take her somewhere special, we usually eat at the Midland. Maybe we'll try Gotham again next year!!!
Afternoon tea as a birthday treat for a friend, staff made no reference to the occasion and seemed generally disinterested. Waitress took 20mins to bring the wrong bottle of champagne and then replaced it with a correct, but warm, replacement bottle. Sandwiches were pre-prepared meaning the bread was stale. We had to ask for an extra pots of tea and cream, as the portions were tiny. Nobody asked us whether we enjoyed the meal. Service charge is added automatically, of course.
We attended for a family christmas treat for my sister&nephew a Very disappointing experience zero atmosphere, i expected opulance&querkyness it fell very flat on both once we left the reception area.Waiting staff started to prepare for an evening function as soon as we arrive moving things we were still dining, on three occasions by three different members of staff we were asked if everything was ok i did we want anything else all within 1 hour!! We felt very rushed&a gereral inconvienience& like the staff wanted us put of the way so they could get organised for the function. Mini version of an afternoon tea, one caddie for 3 people four thin slithers of a sandwich each which equated to two slices of bread and only 3 of those were edible, dull macarons with marshmellow filling??? Smallest cakes i have ever seen barley bite sized miniture scones with 1 quinell of cream for 3 people £25 per head¬ a sign of any champers. I have had afternoon tea in many hotels including the midland, the lowry, harvey nicholes and on the river themes&the shangrila&anything priced above £25 usually includes champagne. We recieved zero service, staff were pleasent enough& although not unpleasant it was way over priced under whelming&just a generally disappointing experience.
Very disappointed with my experience on Saturday. It’s my third visit and the second wasn’t the best but gave it another chance. I won’t be returning.
Very disappointing. On a plus side the setting is interesting and the food is very good. We were greeted by one pleasant lady who took our coats . However bar her and a younger waiter the service is incredibly poor. Went for a birthday celebration and the night was ruined. Some serious morale issues with staff and they seem some what despondent and obviously to the fact they work in the service industry.
Lovely restaurant with a quality menu . Food was fabulous. Extensive wine list. Excellent service
