Was expecting better, food was average, service was pretty slow saying was just afternoon tea waited 20 minutes to get served drink, then arrived and glass full of lipstick not what expect of high end restaurant
Food amazing, staff very attentive. A delightful experience
Enjoyed the afternoon tea but disappointed with the level on service. Had to ask three times what a Gotham afternoon tea was ! In the end just chose not really knowing
The venue was cool and interesting but once inside the tearooms we were left for fifteen minutes when finally we were spoken to nothing at all about the menu was explained not what drinks were included l thought prosecco was included the name implies this but no explanation of anything !! Not told anything about the teas or how many we could try etc Food was nice but no atmosphere !!!
The setting is wonderful and the food was excellent, but the menu is fairly limited. Very elegant and classy establishment. Wonderful piano player. The menu is expensive, even for an upscale restaurant.
There was only one hot menu in the tasting menu. It would be nicer if there is only 1 dessert and another hot menu.
But other than this I really enjoyed my time at honey.
Thanks for the great time.
Service was 5*
An absolutely amazing experience. Food ambience and attention to detail was outstanding. My daughter was overwhelmed with the whole experience for her 18th birthday. Amazing food and great service. We will return
Me and my new wife went on a Monday night and was very quiet which would be expected. The service was very good. Very friendly and happy to meet our needs. The food was fantastic, we hadn't had food like that for quite some time. Definitely would have no issues going back but maybe over a weekend when it would be busier and maybe a bit more of a atmosphere.
Excellent service and food, thanks for making the night special for my wife and her Twin sisters birthday
Dear Rob, Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a beautiful review. You are our real star. Most people don’t take the time to leave reviews about positive experiences, and that’s what makes you the star. Thank you for giving us this proverbial pat on the back. You made our day!
Very lovely looking restaurant and attentive staff and the food was fresh and nicely presented. The only problem was that the portion sizes were really small for the price of the food. For example a scallop starter cost £15 and you only got 2 scallops. Monk fish main course was on a bed of chick peas with only a few slices of monk fish for £24. House red wine was £30 and then there was a hike up to £45 for the next price range. It would be nice to have more choice around the £30 mark. It was worth a try but there are other restaurants in the vicinity that I would consider to be much better value for money.
Had afternoon tea at the Gotham last year it was superb but this time very disappointing

My husband and I came for afternoon tea for our anniversary and the stand out part was the service from Antonio! He’s amazing and a credit to Gotham
Sea bass was priced at £24 on the menu but was a very small portion, only two pieces, should probably have been three. Compared with the steak which was a really a good sized portion.
The 2 gentleman on the front door were very pleasant and made us feel welcome. When we went up in the lift we were met by a pleasant male who was able to accommodate an extra person for us. From there it went a bit down hill. The staff were nice and pleasant and were ordered afternoon tea. When it came it looked very nice. Unfortunately the bread on the sandwiches tasty a bit stale, the sausage roll was lovely and the cakes nice. There was only one other couple in and the staff only asked one of our party if they wanted another drink and then disappeared for quite a while so they rest of us did not get chance to have any more to drink. It was a shame, if the bread was fresh and staff a bit more attentive it would have been nice
Booked as a Christmas Present.
Stood waiting for host for far too long.
Showed us to our table and gave us a menu stating as it was December 26th we were still able to order from the special Christmas Menu...
This was not the menu advertised online which enticed us to make the booking.
We then realised this was the smaller bar menu from the bar upstairs.
When asked for the menu, the waiter then said there was an issue with a delivery and only the bar menu was available.
The fact there were different stories wasn't great - but the worst part was their attitude.
No apology, nothing at all - not a care in the world.
We decided to go elsewhere which was a terrible shame.
We are not unreasonable and appreciate things happen that are outside of people's control, but this was very poorly handled.
Had a special meal, lovely food and great service. The 5 course tasting menu was perfect.
Fantastic service and lovely festive setting! My favourite place to go!
We had the afternoon tea here as a festive treat as a break away from all the hustle and bustle of all the xmas shoppers in town. The hotel itself is beautiful and every member of staff we encountered were all so pleasant and helpful.
Service within the restaurant was excellent and the food was beautiful. There was a pianist playing christmas music which was a lovely way to set the mood.
I'd definitely recommend the Afternoon Tea at the Gotham Hotel x
We had dinner at the Honey restaurant for my 50th birthday had had a lovely time. Food was delicious and service was excellent.
Booked Afternoon Tea as a surprise birthday treat for my Mum and it was fantastic! The only negative was that the restaurant had decided to alter the menu and increase the price slightly after I had booked and they hadn't taken the time to inform me. Luckily I chose to call a few days beforehand to prepay so was able to avoid an embarrassing situation on the day. That said the food and service on the day were absolutely perfect and my mum had the best time.
Amazing as always! Love going back here - always well looked after and the food is always beautiful!
Excellent service, tasting menu was outstanding, would defiantly go back.

Excellent staff very attentive nothing too much trouble very helpful lovely setting

We hope to see you here again and please bring all your friends and family. We will ensure they all enjoy the same quality of service as you have.
The bread on the sandwiches was hard, which means the sandwiches were not fresh. There was no clotted cream or jam for the scones, which was disappointing. Although the venue was nice, it’s not enough to make us go back. It’s worth travelling to Bettys Tea Room, each of our experiences there were amazing.
Not impressed at all. They had missed one starter out and the main courses took ages to come. The food was so average I would have cooked way better myself, not at all worth their extortionate price!!
They offered us a glass of Prosecco to make up for our disappointment but by that time we were already late for our friend’s party and had to leave...
Won’t be going back !
This place is wow.
The staff are fantastic
Food is wonderful
If you have a special occasion this is a special place
Hi Emma, Thank you for leaving us such a wonderful review. We are glad that you loved our services and food. Our dedicated staffs will be pleased to learn of your high praise. They work very diligently and it will provide them with great encouragement to keep doing what they are doing. Thank you, once again, for your kind words.
Only 4 others diners on a Friday night, felt empty. We ordered the hummus, it was very cold (normally served at room temp) and was mixed with beetroot no mention of this on the menu (we weren’t charged for this dish as not fans of beetroot). Starters were good. For mains we had Duck (cooked well) and Monkfish. The Monkfish came as described barr the strong curry flavour/sauce again no mention of curry on the menu description. For puddings we had soufflé and Gotham chocolate. Soufflé lovely but Gotham chocolate meant to have banana we couldn’t taste it at all! I booked this for my sisters birthday overall not impressed and will not be returning. Cost £157 for 3 courses for two, including a bottle of wine. Very disappointed should have gone The Ivy or Twenty Stories.
Beautiful food, fabulous customer service in an amazing hotel - thank you
Amazing food and service. Portions not huge but tasty interesting combinations of ingredients. Price over £20 per main is ok.
A shocking afternoon tea from start to finish
- A very poor greeting
- on arrival was sat on a poor table near were staff waited away from the few people and no view so we moved
-20 mins before a drink ordered then drinks came after a long wait at same time as food
- asked for a simple cheese sandwiches only for one of guests and was given 1 and rest all smoked salmon etc which I’d explained was not what she ate
- no jam or cream for scones had to ask
- no hot drinks offered
- over £150 for afternoon tea which was poor
- after contacting Gotham via inbox on social media the read and ignored for days the I remessaged and a little later the asked for my contact details and guess what a week later no contact
The Ivy is much better value, atmosphere, service
We had a nice meal at the restaurant which was quietish - about 4 tables occupied on a Saturday night. But we were very disappointed that we weren’t able to go to the bar for a drink before or after dinner even though we’d paid £220 for a dinner at Hotel Gotham it felt like we were treated like second class customers. The food and wine were very good and it was only the service that let things down.
Dear David, I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your meal at Honey Restaurant ! I shall pass your lovely comments onto my wonderful team who will also be thrilled to hear your feedback! However, I would like to offer heartfelt apologies that you felt treat like a second class customers. The Bar Brass Club is a private bar exclusive to hotel residents & bar Brass members only. Therefore Honey Restaurant’s customers are not able to go to the bar. We hope to see you soon again,
I booked afternoon tea for me and my sister as a birthday treat. It was amazing. The food was delicious, service lovely. The only little criticism, the ham sandwich was a bit hard, but still was delicious. Will definitely come back again.
Dear TanjaS, I am thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your visit and had a lovely time with us for an afternoon tea ! I will pass your lovely comments onto my wonderful team who will also be delighted to hear your feedback! We look forward to see you soon again,
First time at this venue and I am afraid to say I was a little disappointed. Food was only OK, but my beef blade was very chewy and I could not eat all of it as a result. Service was good, but we felt we were ripped off by the Sommelier as his highly recommended Dom Perignon aperitif turned out to be £45 per glass which we did not find out until afterwards! Our fault, we should have asked, but still £90 for two small glasses of Dome Perignon did leave us with a sour taste. Not sure I'd go back there.
Nice atmosphere, quirky decor, attentive staff with memorable service from the sommelier. Very nice and good quality food.
Hello, I am delighted to read that you enjoyed your visit and had a good experience with us! I shall pass your lovely comments onto my wonderful team who will also be thrilled to hear your feedback! We look forward to seeing you again soon, Honey Restaurant
The afternoon tea was lovely, however, there wasn’t a lot of it compared to other places I’ve dined at...
also, I didn’t appreciate the 10% service charge , like the afternoon tea wasn’t pricey enough
However all in all it was lovely
Dear Laurens, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us regarding your recent experience here in Honey Restaurant. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Our afternoon tea included a selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones with jam and cream and I feel sorry that was not enough for you. Thank you
Good food and service but the wine list was very expensive. One bottle for £30 before rising rapidly up into the hundreds of pounds. We ordered the £30 red which I didn’t think was great...maybe what you’d pay less than £5 for in the supermarket. I commented that it was a little too sharp and was advised that whilst the sommelier really liked the plumb and black currant notes and thought it a good wine, it couldn’t be great because it was so much cheaper than the other wines. Seemed like a silly approach in my opinion! Otherwise, we did enjoy the food and had a lovely evening.
My wife and I had booked Honey for her birthday, the whole experience was excellent, great service from all the staff who were very courteous & extremely knowledgeable about the food and drink they were serving, which was all excellent, the restaurant itself was very tastefully decorated with great views of Manchester.
We went up to Bar Brass after our meal for cocktails, and the great service we received in Honey was replicated in the bar.
We will definitely be returning in the near future.
Absolutely beautiful meal and service was impeccable. Went for my fiancé’s 40th birthday. The only let down was when I booked the meal I was asked if we were celebrating anything special. I told them we were going there for my fiancé’s 40th but this was never mentioned when we had our meal? I presumed they may do something special for us? Other than that though the place and food and service was excellent.
We celebrated our friends wedding on Saturday with a lovely dinner and fabulous cocktails. The staff were friendly and helpful and made it a special evening. One small improvement would be a pianist. Why have a baby grand and not use it?
