The venue is nice, well decorated, near the tube. Menu is quite plentiful with lots of choice but beware! Half the food and several drinks were 'not available' or 'sold out' at 7:30pm on a Sat evening when there were only a handful of people in there.
After several of our guests were disappointed by their food choice (or lack of), we decided to have a drink instead and asked if we could sit and share another bottle of wine. 'Yes of course!' the waitress replied, then promptly turned off the music and upped the lights at 10pm when we had clearly overstayed our welcome.
Such a shame because has the potential to be a goldmine if they got the service and food offer right!
Used my voucher for HUSH, really enjoyed it, food and wine was great, would definitely go back.
Delicious food, scrumptious drinks, amazing ambience and great service.
The steak was cooked beautifully and the aspen fries were fantastic (even though it would have been lovely to have more truffles and parmesan!)
Would definitely recommend.
I arrived at 16.30 )early for my reservation but was planning on having a drink and waiting fort husband to arrive from work).
I sat. And I sat. And sat a bit more. 30 minutes later I was asked if I was ok. Not if I would like a drink, was I ok.
Unfortunately someone had decided that on a Friday just as people are leaving work it would be a good time for the staff to have a wine tasting session. Unfortunately again I was sat on a table right next to them so all I heard for the half an hour I was waiting to be served was about wine, with nothing in my hand.
Once the table was cleared and the staff were serving service (obviously) improved and our waitress, Margot (I think) was attentive and personable.
When we paid the bill the restaurant had snuck a 12.5% service charge on to the total - in addition to some chips that we didn't have - I asked for it to be removed so we could pay our own tip. Unfortunately, however, their machine didn't allow us to leave a gratuity and neither of us had any cash on us, so this time we left paying £74 for 2 starts and mains (which were beautifully cooked), 3 glasses of wine, one G+T (which had to be replaced because the tonic was flat...) and 3 soda waters (they charged nearly £2 for fizzy water fr the tap?!!!)
All in all this isn't a restaurant with any ambience. It's somewhere to go with your colleagues after work before going home.
Final verdict: great food, poor service
Friendly service, decent but not too big portion size. Good prices especially with Taste cars.
Great burger, lovely fries.
All in all a good lunch Meal with colleagues.
Not haute cuisine but that's absolutely fine
Firm favourite for lunch with colleagues
We visited yesterday as a group of 8 for gin afternoon tea, the place was fairly quiet so no atmosphere. The 'afternoon tea' consisted of 3 finger sandwiches, 2 scones and 2 macaroons each (really needed at least 1 more sandwich)
There was no wow about the food that came out, when I cut a scone open it was hard as it it had been over microwaved, we sent it back to be told they were fresh today
Our table then sat and watched as the waitress microwaved more 'fresh today' scones and brought them out - such a let down
The gin cocktails were hit or miss with the group, an acquired taste
I had mentioned mums birthday when we booked, and they brought out a complimentary mars bar cheese cake with a candle, which was nice, but so glad we hadn't paid for it as it was unpalatable
Let's just say we won't be rushing back
HUSH has a good-looking brunch menu but unfortunately that is not served until 12pm (on a Saturday, which I thought was a bit late) so we had to order off the breakfast menu. Nevertheless, breakfast was good and service was prompt and attentive.
Booked dinner with the 50% off a la carte offer from Top Table and it made for a very reasonable evening out. The service was unfortunately poor - our waiter was visibly stressed and a little erratic, which I would attribute to them being understaffed. The food was good, fairly priced (especially with the offer) and tasty on the whole. I would return to give it another go because with the offer it made for an amazingly reasonable evening out and their cocktails were rather good and fairly priced.
Party of four tucked into a nice combination of food, including butterfly chicken, crispy duck salad and roast cod. All nicely cooked good vfm thanks to Open Table
Quality food if bordering on the slightly generic. Doubt you'd ever be disappointed eating here.
With the discount this ended up being fantastic value. The beetroot and goat's cheese salad with walnuts and caramelised onions was just perfect. It was however very quiet for a Friday night - almost no other diners which meant it lacked a certain buzz. It was however very easy to talk to each other!
On face value this place seems very posh, I was slightly let down by the very limited menu...and if you look hard enough its actually quite a casual place.
The place totally lacked atmosphere, on a Sat evening. Service was nice. Food was ok, but several items on the menu were unavailable.
Great quality food and really excellent staff - unusual fabulous service in the heart of London
I hoped this would be as good as the Hush in Lancaster Court. Terrible mistake.
Any restaurant that serves the main with 'salad' when the the 'salad' is one piece of lettuce with an unpleasant dressing on it should be shut down.#
Food was extremely disappointing.
Service was nice.
Had dinner here with three colleagues on a Thursday night.
Starter and drinks were served promptly but we had to wait for two hours before the main arrived.
One of our party did not eat a starter so was very hungry by the time the food came.
As it was so late at this point, we had to rush the food and leave, so was not as enjoyable as I would have hoped.
The meals themselves were decent, well cooked and tasty.
Service was good and when we asked, were given a free bottle of wine as an apology.
Overall, I would go back to give them a chance to redeem themselves, especially as there are a lot of tasty things on the menu.
However, I would not recommend to a friend as I wouldn't want to risk disappointment, especially when the excellent Rosewood is just over the road.
Nothing VERY wrong in any way. Nice place - but of a busy road. Food slow to arrive / first glass of wine corked / food OK but nothing to make one rush back (Sunday chef?). All in all a perfectly pleasant evening but there are better places out there which I will return to rather than Hush. Just shows how competitive everything is in London. Any other city and Hush would be on my list!
Very friendly on arrival, service a little slow but we had asked for a quiet table at the back! Food excellent and menu had something for everyone. not too expensive for centre of town.
food was vg we didn't realize you had to collect voucher from theatre before going so had to pay for food it was vg burger lovely however quite pricey for what it was as fries are not included odd salad was whole small lettuce and very little but very lemony advocado burger and relish made up for it and cocktails good too
Waitress very helpful even when explaining vouchers should have been collected shame you can't print them and take with you
Excellent place for pre-theatre dinner - check out Monday and Tuesday for the £15 steak and lobster deal...
Went to Hush Holborn in a group of 5 for a birthday meal with the 50% off food deal. Food was delicious, our waiter was lovely and with the deal it was really reasonably priced - came to £25 each for 2 courses and a couple of drinks each.
I recently visited Hush Holborn whilst on a business visit and instantly loved the place . When I was thinking of somewhere to take my wife for a Birthday lunch I had no hesitation in choosing Hush again. The decor is refined and the atmosphere is laid back. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the menu, whilst not overflowing with choice (which is also no bad thing) has something for everyone and is reasonably well priced. The service was efficient without feeling rushed and the background music was noticeable but not too loud to drown out conversation (a pet hate of mine in any restaurant).
We both now love this restaurant and would happily visit again on another visit to London. It is just a pity you don't have one in Cardiff.
We went to dinner on a Friday night, taking advantage of a 50% off food offer. The food was poor and flavourless. My crab dish contained shell. Small portions.
Marks also down for serving the house wine in a carafe.
Disclosure: I was offered a replacement dish for my butterflied chicken but I declined as my wife was half way though her main course.
I had the tuna nicoise. Whilst the tuna was lovely and perfectly rare, I don't see why they felt the need to drown the salad in olive oil? Presumably people who order salads care about their health, and even if not it would be good to have the freedom of choice to add it myself. Would have been lovely if it wasn't.
I ordered a chocolate fondue type dessert and it was pretty average. Tasted like chocolate flavoured custard, and I didn't finish it.
However my partner had a mars bar cheesecake and that looked very nice.
It was a cheap meal with the deal. Perhaps I ordered wrong, but would say pretty average.
We went to Hush early on a Saturday so very quiet but there weren't half price cocktails as enjoyed by a previous reviewer. Our drinks bill was quite steep in the end after a couple of bottles of wine and a digestif as well. Food was good with the 50% off and we had a cosy over table for 6 of us
Great place to eat and all the staff are very polite and helpful. I have used HUSH for several breakfast meetings over recent months and plan on using again.
What struck me was how different the experience was to how the restaurant is portrayed (I walk past it every day on my commute). The service was friendly, the expresso martinis reasonable and the lamb was delicious.
All was standard. .
Food was nice but softboiled eggs with soldiers were hard boiled - so no dipping.
Had to call the waitress over twice (to take our order; then no one checked on us after it was served)
Also when I arrived, they sat me at a table, i waited 10 mins thinking the rest of my party was late, but found out they had sat them at another table?!
But generally they were friendly.
What a gem! Staff were that perfect blend of friendly and professional and made us very welcome. We arrived in time for Happy Hour with a good variety of drinks to choose from & tasted great. Not bad for £8 for two! My boyfriend said his mac & cheese starter was the best he'd had. My calamari starter was a big portion, slightly chewy but still nice. The steak & truffle mash is definitely recommended and good value at 50% off two courses. Lovely ambience and lighting made for a nice vibe. Fairly quiet for a Saturday night but still had a good buzz about it. Lush!
All the dishes were well prepared and tasty . The service was attentive without being obtrusive . We took advantage of the 50% deal on Friday and Saturday so rated it one star higher on value for that reason .
This is a good place for people who enjoy their food and like to see what they're eating .
Loved the lobster Roll! The service was good, quick and to a good standard.
The food was well presented and tasted great.
Great place in Holborn - especially the steak and lobster night on Monday and Tuesday - good value, tasty and great service.
My wife made the reservation having seen the "50% off two courses" offer on Time Out. Having read some of the modest reviews we were bit sceptical but certainly didn't need to worry. We had a reservation for 7.00pm as we had to get a bus back to Norwich at 10.00. We arrived 20 minutes early to take advantage of the 2 for 1 cocktail offer and were received with a smile and a "no worries" attitude. The menu was explained and cocktails, which were excellent, were ordered. We were given plenty of time to decided on our order and when we had done so, the starters arrived promptly. Crispy squid and smoked salmon were both very pleasant. For main course we both had the roast cod with béarnaise and fries, which also had a small salad with it. The waitress was honest enough to say that we probably wouldn't need any sides and she was right. The fish was perfectly cooked and the fries were crispy and hot. Accompanied by a bottle of the house white and followed by 2 espressos, this was the perfect end to our day in London. The restaurant itself is modern and well laid-out, the toilets spotless. The staff seemed to all be Eastern European but all spoke perfect English and were friendly and efficient. Couldn't fault the place at all. Oh, and I should mention that the bill for 2 cocktails, 2 courses for 2, a bottle of wine and coffees was £53 including service. Top value
Really lovely, attentive service throughout the night. We were celebrating with family and the food was really well-presented, very well made and the atmosphere was relaxed but still 'special'.
I only come here when using when tastecard (and the cocktail happy hour) as it makes it an affordable option. Food is very tasty, cocktails are always of a high standard and service is attentive.
Very enjoyable business lunch - placed in booth where conversation was possible and sufficiently discreet. Service attentive but not overbearing and food choices good
Very good value, friendly kind service and food did the job for what we needed pre theatre.
We had three courses, a cocktail each (half price before 7) and a bottle of wine (2 diners total bill £80 incl service with 50% off food offer) Excellent value for standard of food. Lamb was lovely and spicy sweet potato the perfect compliment. The waiting staff were fantastic - we take a long time over our dinners and we never felt pressured but they were there when we wanted them. Definitely going back.
Wanted something nit so stuffy for an international delegation . They were happy with food, setting and service
A challenge from one of our party on the slight over-cooking of a steak was not well handled by one of the senior staff. Shame, as usually the service is good - which it was from our table server.
