Took my grandchildren. One a freshman aT NYU from London.
Wanted him to see where his mothers 21st bday party was.
It is was a very expensive dinner
Always excellent! Whenever I’m in the city I eat here. The service people are fabulous. Food is always fresh and great. Highly recommend!
Had a fabulous Branzino and s great chopped salad with white beans. The restaurant prepared a veal chop to my husband s specifications and it was excellent. Will definitely return
Food and atmosphere was awesome. However, extremely overpriced. We ordered Gnocchi in a 4 cheese source and it was a good portion. However, $34 for a pasta dish with no meat or fish is unreasonable.
The wait staff was fantastic as well as the food: Spinach Dumplings were delightfully fluffy & light as was the Pappardelle all’s Buttera (a must order).
Wonderful, as always.
The food and service were excellent!
This was the latest of many visits to il cantinori over the course of years. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly in a table of our choice. Service was friendly but efficient. We were served a delicious and generous amuse bouche of tomato puree and whole grained bread. We found an excellent and fairly priced Barbaresco that went nicely with an early evening summer meal. For starters we tried a beet salad special (good) and grilled calamari (very good), followed by entrees of linguini with clams and artichoke (excellent) and the veal chop (terrific). At $155/pp including drinks, tax and tip, Il Cantinori is no bargain but for the quality of food, service and atmosphere we will return.
Awesome in every way. Top notch service matched with delicious food. Love this place
Il Cantinori is the best! In every regard and every aspect.
Terrific Italian food for special occasions.
The food was poorly prepared and just not very good. Service, ambiance was great but we will not go back. Don't mind paying high prices for a fabulous restaurant but this did not measure up at all.
Absolutely loved everything about this place, food was amazing. Service even better.
We went during restaurant week so the price was more reasonable. Otherwise , the price is high and , in my opinion , not justified by the quality or the impersonal service .
We Loved everything about it! Service, food, ambiance were all perfect. Maitre D , Frank was charming. The restaurant has been in business 30 years, they get right!
A friends Birthday
Very pleasant atmosphere, good food, though not outstanding. The prices, though, are outstandingly high.
We (2) went for lunch during Restaurant Week. The food was quite lovely. An amuse-bouche of fresh, creamy crushed tomatoes and fresh bread was served. We chose the rollotini melanzane and and fegatini di pollo con finochhi as appetizers, followed by the rigatoni buttera and pollo all'amalfitana as main course. After the luncheon we were served a small platter of dessert (brownies and biscotti). The glass of the house Montepulciano wine was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. We will return again.
Everything about this restaurant is the flawless New York dining experience
We were were made to feel very special on our friends anniversary
We had not been in years and were thrilled to know that
il Cantinori is still excellent in every way! Loved it. Absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable.
Very pricey for mediocre food. Service is so so based on the price.
Loved it all! We sat in the front with the windows open and it was like dining outside. Our server, Dominic was superb. Food so yummy.
Love this place so much. Great food and ambiance. Beautiful flowers and awesome service.
Upon arrival we were promptly seated. That is the last time,I , can you use the word prompt. Service was spotty a best. We were also treated to a side show , as the wait staff was arguing amongst themselves.
The food was fine , 3 of our party ordered the restaurant week menu and were deliciously surprised on their portion sizes. Upon delivering the food to the table the waiter did not know who ordered what.
Dessert was fine except the cannolis were mushy giving the impression they were just thawed.
Based on the unprofessional staff I would think twice before returning. There are numerous Italian restaurants with food equally as good or superior that treat you as a guest
The first we went was great. Second time food was marginal for NY standards.
THE ROSE WINE WAS SUBLIME...AND IN THAT LOVELY BACK ROOM, YOU FEEL YOU’RE IN THE TUSCAN COUNTRYSIDE...AND FOR SURE IT IS SUMMER. I ORDERED THE PANZANELLA SALAD...SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT TO ASK THEM TO SERVE IT WITH PLAIN LETTUCE AS I’M NOT A FAN OF ARUGULA. IT WAS TASTY BUT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER WITH OUT THE A... AND, WELL, THE TIRAMISU WAS SIMPLY THE BEST E*V*E*R*! IT SIMPLY EVAPORTED FROM LIGHTNESS. I MIGHT GO BACK SOMETIME AND JUST HAVE THAT! CHOICES WERE WONDERFUL AND CHALLENGING. THE ENTIRE IL CANTINORI EXPERIENCE WAS WONDERFUL.
Hadn’t eaten in IL Cantinori in years. The place is warm and welcoming. This is a very expensive restaurant and the food was only so-so. High prices should correlate to excellent food- otherwise you feel had as I did at this restaurant.
Very good italian restaurant, with a nice decoration with fresh flowers. However, very expensive, a little bit too much for the food.
Recommended by a family member as we are from Missouri and even took a cab ride from Times Sauare
to eat our evening meal there. The food and service from start to finish was superb. I had rack of lamb and my wife had the halibut and both were cooked to perfection. Can’t wait to eat there again on our next trip.
Wonderful meal. Always enjoy our meals at Il Cantanori and bright friends who had never had the pleasure of dining at Il Cantanori. Everyone left pleased and raving about the meal.
The meal was delicious. Glad we went back after several years. Definitely save room for the profiteroles.
Another outstanding evening at Il Cantinori. Great food, service, wine, and ambience. It has never disappointed.
Food and service were excellent. I downrated value because the menu has gotten "pricey". I've been there several times although I think last was about a year ago. However, a substantial increase can be easily documented. The dessert prices actually paid were 25% more than listed on their website, which is apparently out of date. My cocktail was more expensive than when I visited the restaurant in the Pierre Hotel (although it's been a while and that price may now be higher). This is not meant to be a complaint, just a statement of fact.
The lemon gnocchi was a gift to behold. Order it and share it,Fabulous filet mignon. The profiteroles are superb.
I will go back - a really lovely place to meet, sit and talk
My daughter ordered the veal she said it was delicious, our company had the fish which was very fresh and I ordered the appetizer eggplant rolatini as my dinner which was perfect. The service was prompt, they didn’t make anyone feel rushed to finish by taking the plates of people who finished first before everyone was done eating. The desserts were a reasonable portion. Decaf cappuccino and coffee was very good. It was a Monday night so the restaurant was not packed but still many tables were full when we left at 9:00, we sat in the back room and the noise level was so reasonable I even mentioned it when we were at dinner, it was possible to hear each other talk. I do recommend this restaurant for a nice Italian meal.
Food was delicious and Carlos was amazing!!!! We will definitely be back.
Food, service and ambiance were all wonderful. Highly recommend.
