I went today with my family and friends this afternoon. We had 6 kids and the manager along with the crew set up the table for 11 which I m very grateful for. Since my reservation was for 4 people originally. Waitress and service were great. I gave 3 stars to the food because; Even though it had good flavor we paid $28 for a chicken with potatoes and vegetables as side and all I got was 2 tiny carrot and 4 potatoes wedges together with 1 piece of brocollini. over all the experience was very good. we loved the food and hospitality but we just wanted a bit more of those good flavors on the plate!!

Actually, three stars for the FOOD, although the VERY MUCH pared-back menu omits many of our favorites.

As for the rest:

SERVICE
Waiters try hard, but miss some of the the basics.

Examples:
"How is everything tasting?" (Never uttered once.)
"Would you like some parmesan on that pasta?" (Never uttered once.)
"Would you like some more oil & balsamic for the bread" (Never uttered once.)

BAR
OMG - Where to begin?

Ordered a Manhattan. It arrived and was not even close.
Waiter offered for THE MANAGER to remake it -- and apparently he did.
Result: Just as bad. I asked the guy, "Did YOU make this?" And he sheepishly admitted he did, then explained the REAL issue: They didn't have any Sweet Vermouth, so he made it with Dry Vermouth.

For those who don't know, a proper Manhattan has just four ingredients:
Whiskey (preferably Rye Whiskey), Sweet Vermouth (the red one), Angostoura Bitters and a cherry garnish.

So then the Manager/Bartender offered -- almost pressured -- me to order something else. I protested, saying the main courses were surely about to arrive. "I'll hold them" he promised, so I asked for a DRY Tanqueray Martini.
No surprise that when it came, it was a Vodka Martini (unless specified, Martini's are always made with gin -- of which Tanqueray is a well known brand.) And it has too much vermouth to be called "dry." Oh, and he forgot the garnish.

Oh, and the main courses were NOT held, as promised -- the arrived before I could take a single (not as ordered) sip.

Suggestion: Wait. No really, wait. Il Fiornaio was once one of our favorites, but as of 21 June 2021 it is NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME.

I was unimpressed with the foot. The pasta didn't taste homepage, and was overall not flavorful.

We realize it was a busy holiday - Father's Day, and we also realize that restaurants are trying to get used to busy "in person" crowds. Having said that, we have been to other Il Fornaio locations where the food is consistently good. This location, not so much. The pizza doe was gooey and tasteless. They messed one of the pizzas' orders. The appetizer we ordered was burned. The waiter still brought it to us. We had to ask for it to be prepared again. The Seabass did not look like seabass. While it tasted ok, the presentation was poor. Now the charge for the bread basket, which came out after we had our entrees on the table. And then there is the 2% covid surcharge. I think we should be past that now.
Not sure I will be returning to this location.

They need a lot of work here. The kitchen is poorly managed. The entrees were delivered while we were mid-way through our salads. When a restaurant can not get these basics it is best you avoid it.

The restaurant is a little pricey, but they almost always have attractive specials that they promote through their mailing list. But even with a coupon — for example, two pasta or gnocchi entrees for $25 — you’ll still likely pay around $100 after adding in a delicious appetizer, 2 or 3 drinks and a decadent dessert!

The inside is charming, but we prefer the original patio for people-watching the adjacent pathway. It is not at all loud; in fact, I wished they turn up the music just a tad more, as I recognized a smooth, compelling playlist (e.g. Amy Winehouse).

We waited almost 30 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation. The server had a language barrier and it was all downhill from there. She didn’t know the menu and couldn’t describe the items. Two servers later, they finally came up with a good waiter. Then they overcharged us for our meal. Not going to come back here.

We made a reservation for 5 people. We were sat at a 4 top. When I asked if there was a bigger table we were told no, this is what they had to offer. The waitress was at the table long enough to get a food order. We asked about a cocktail menu and she said she’d return with one. She never came back until the end of the meal. She asked how the food was and we stated that we had wanted to place a drink order but she hadn’t been a where to be found. We also said we would have liked Parmesan with our meal, but being that we were finished it was unnecessary. She’s walked away with a reply of, ok great! That doesn’t even make sense. She wasn’t listening to anything we had to say. We were there for my birthday and will never be back. So disappointed. We felt shunned to a corner because we had brought our children with us. Who mind you sat quietly and were excited to be out celebrating Moms birthday. We were rushed out and completely ignored. The restaurant should be ashamed at how we were treated.

Great lunch spot if your in the mood for Italian food in the Village. Great Sangria and Halibut special. Bread for $2 wow! come on...this should not be charged. Especially in an Italian restaurant. Bread was plain nothing special.

It’s unfortunate that the restaurant now charges money for bread. Also, we went on our actual wedding anniversary, it would have been nice if they had brought out a dessert. When I asked the waitress, she said maybe I could bring you a scoop of ice cream. I said no thanks.

The food was very good, except the lasagna sauce was too tomato tasting,
not enough meat, garlic or basil. Considering how empty the restaurant was, I would have expected the service to be much better.

Had to ask several times for water, bread and the check.

The food at Il Fornaio is consistently good. I've eaten at the Woodland Hills and other Los Angeles area locations many times in recent years and have never been disappointed. On the most recent visit we were seated at our request at one of the quieter outside areas. For a while we were the only guests in that area and I wondered if our server might forget us. That was not the case. Anthony checked back with us frequently during our meal. When asked, he made a couple of excellent recommendations.

Place is under staffed. There were 2 hostesses in the front that need to learn how to communicate. They kept looking at each other like they were lost. Way under staffed, our waiter was so sweet but was too busy and took so long to get help. When we opened our silverware it was so dirty with chocolate. We ordered a salad with salmon and seafood pasta which was amazing but portion so small I was still hungry and I'm a small girl. Prices way over-rated for portion sizes.

I was very excited to try Il Fornaio after hearing such great things. It was a huge disappointment. We told our server we DEFINITELY wanted dessert, asked for VERY little garlic, and both requests were ignored. Big chunks of garlic, and server never returned to get dessert order, have our dirty dishes taken away, or bring the check. I had to get up after 15 minutes of sitting with dirty plates in front of us, and ask for it them to be cleared. The odd part was there was another waiter and helper in our small area with several other diners, and they both came and went many times and just ignored us. Our check would have been well over $100 if she had bothered to come back to order dessert, and we were excited to do the "Tip the check" thing because we hadn't been out in over a year. I did tip 20% but don't think I've ever tipped that little on dinner.
