The talent that is brewed by the thriving Chicago restaurant industry has definitely overflowed into the city's outer suburbs and surrounding enclaves. Hinsdale, Naperville, and others on the West side are certainly a part of that innovative growth. Bistros have been booming with a strong fusion of French and American traditions. Yet, they also have a lot of influence from the mingling of many different immigrant cultures in the greater Chicago area. Steak and chop houses are quite popular, and some even have locally sourced beef from the urban farming revolution in the outer suburbs. That also leads to some of the best produce, especially when the summer farmers' markets are in full swing.
