A lovely relaxed evening. The service was excellent; attentive without being intrusive. Food was amazing and the menu choice was good. A delight for my daughter who has Coeliac disease.
Excellent pre theatre experience! We had the 3 course and blue spritz cocktail pre-theatre meal 29 pounds which was great value. Staff throughout our time at the hotel from the bar, concierge to the restaurant were extremely helpful and attentive the service could not be faulted. Food was of good quality and portion size, the meal was timed to perfection by the staff for out theatre booking at the Aldwych theatre.
Excellent well priced food. As both my mother and i are gluten free it was such a change to be able to eat everything on the menu. We shared a pork disk that was both tasty and filling. My chocolate mousse was sublime.
My only criticism is the price of the drinks. £21 for a 175ml glass of chardonnay from a bottle that online cost £40 is daylight robbery. Twice my mother was brought the wrong glass of wine . I was glad i was driving or i might have had to take out a second mortgage !
Recommend - exceptional service and great food in a lovely bright and airy environment. Booked due to proximity to Aldwych Theatre after seeing Tina the musical for my mother's birthday - she was thrilled and had the perfect ending to a fantastic day. She last ate at the hotel 64 years ago at the age of 16 !
Lovely restaurant, service fantastic, we had pre theatre dinner which was good value for money. Didn't like non diary butter but that was minor point
Wonderful cocktails. Food was delightful, especially the pea soup. The dairy free aspect is confusing in that you can order a latte but the food menu is dairy free. Chips arrived late and the restaurant was very hot. However, we were given a free bottle of water and ice: every member of staff was welcoming and helpful. The new decor is a bit meh!
Very helpful service. Interesting and very well presented food. Excellent bread!
I have been to Indigo a number of times, it is always good. Its the best restaurant for people who are gluten and dairy intolerant, its a proper fine dinning experience.
Exceptional service. Exceptional Gluten Free & Dairy Free food. Delicious! Had a wonderful meal for a 40th Birthday. Would highly recommend to those with gluten and dairy intolerances. Had a wonderful time. Don't delay, book today!!!
Amazing gluten and dairy free restaurant , was so wonderful to be able to eat absolutely everything on the menu.
The staff were all friendly and we were relaxed for the whole evening, my husband and I will definitely be returning and wish we had more places like that around.
Having researched gluten free restaurants in London and discovered Indigo I brought a group of 4 including a friend with food intolerances. We opted for the pre-theatre menu. We were all very pleased with the evening and enjoyed the food, touches like the gluten-free bread and non-dairy “butter” were appreciated by all and all of our meals were very good considering the price. The pea velouté & gooseberry pana cota were exceptional. Wine was not so reasonably priced. The service was friendly & relaxed and our request to be finished in time for curtain-up at the Aldwych Theatre was delivered. In view of the range of food choices available with intolerances in mind Indigo is quite exceptional.
Being a Coeliac dining at Indigo was a joy & such a treat, I take my hat off to this brave chef, what a great decision!
Outstanding service without being too over the top. Excellent drinks and beautifully presented food. Highly recommend. We will previously went to another bar for pre-drinks and received poor service and expensive cocktails that were a let down. Next time we will spend more time at the Lobby bar at One Aldwych followed by a lovely meal at Indigo
Excellent to have a good choice of coeliac-friendly dishes. My wife particularly enjoyed the battered cod.
Enjoyed a lovely pre theatre meal here with my daughter. Both the service and the food were faultless. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and would definitely use again.
Indigo was my favourite restaurant, a quiet haven in a very busy part of London. The tables were placed well apart and it was easy to have an intimate conversation with people around the table hearing each other.
The refurbishment has taken away the noise abating table clothes and the tables now are arrange bench style on one side with separate tables on the other. No softening at all so the noise make it hard to concentrate.
The refurbishment is, of course, in modern style. I just don't happen to like it. Indigo is now like everywhere else.
The food, on the other hand is good - dairy and gluten free, neither of which I need, but it makes the food thoughtful. I think the salad portions have gone down in size since I was there last. I guess we're paying for the refurb. And the cost of the wine is ridiculous. £12 for a very ordinary 175 ml glass of NZ Sauvignon Blanc. That would make the bottle £48.... madness.
The staff are fantastic, friendly, patient - as good as ever.
But I won't be returning
How on earth do you market yourself as a gluten free restaurant, then begin service by asking if there are any food allergies or issues (to which we answered yes, our son has celiac disease) and then proceed to take our order only to announce at the moment our son has taken his first bite of dinner “oh what he ordered has gluten.” How do you do that??? We chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner while on holiday because it would give him the freedom to order anything. And what he ended up with was gf pasta in tomato sauce. Great dinner for a fancy restaurant (not!). It takes an extraordinary level of arrogance, irresponsibility and maybe stupidity to bill yourself as GF, then ask about allergies and then put gluten dinner in front of a guest and allow them to start eating it. Thank goodness the waiter mentioned something but hello, why wait until it is in his mouth?? A classier service response would have been to remove the cost of his dinner - he couldn’t eat what was ordered and didn’t want pasta. Instead they gave us free dessert that no one really wanted. I can easily write off a meal that did not go as planned except for the fact that what they did is serious and dangerous. In case I haven’t made it clear: attention Indigo: don’t put glutenous food on menu, even a kids menu, when you bill yourself as “entirely gluten free.” I really shouldn’t have to say this but there, I just did.
Intimate dining area, very nice decor and friendly, professional waiters. Food was delicious. The dairy free butter and gluten free bread were amazing. The pannacotta was delicious. It is a delight that a chef has finally been brave enough to offer dairy and gluten free dining. Not by choice I have to follow the dairy free, gluten free diet and its so refreshing to be able to enjoy dining out in a restaurant without having to ask for the allergens menu. Well done and keep it up! Will definitely be back.
Great food, fabulous wine list, outstanding service
Whilst the food, ambience and attention to detail was very good, the experience was let down by the kitchen service. The side orders were not served at the same time as the meal and the serving staff had to be reminded that they were due. This meant the main was half eaten before the side orders were returned. Unfortunately this meant the experience was memorable for the wrong reasons
It was my first dinner out after being diagnosed as coeliac and I couldn’t have had a better experience! The food was amazing as well as the service. Thank you very much x
The GF food is amazing, it's wonderful eating in a restaurant that is totally safe for coeliacs. That bit is 10 out of 10. It's varied, although mostly fish. The Maitre'D is always well presented and attentive but can't be there all the time. The staff just seem to churn, they don't know their own menu and you just can't get their attention. You expect better service at these prices. The bar used to be the best in London, but since the refit to shoe horn more seats in and change the cocktail menu (they used to be beautifully presented and expertly mixed) it's really just another hotel bar. There used to be amazing presentation of drinks...real theatre, now just standard glasses. The menu was beautiful to look at, subtle pictures of the stunning cocktails you were about to recieve now just an uninspiring over long list. It's still worth going for the GF but it's no longer "special"
Love this place !! Great food and looks great newly refurbished
We arrived to be greeted with a complementary cocktail which was delicious. The staff’s attention to detail was outstanding. The menu was a delight for all 7 of us but particularly exciting for our two gluten free guests. They were in heaven with the warm bread and seaweed spread. My pork chop with apple was divine and others loved the lamb. We were all full but had desserts anyway as by this time we knew they would be gorgeous. Thank you One Aldwych- we will be back.
We had a lovely early evening meal here. We chose the pre-theatre menu and I thought it was excellent value and good quality food. The service was excellent. The wine was good too
Without exception the staff were excellent. The food was good though it could have been a little hotter. It was a joy for my coeliac mum to be able to choose from a full menu. It was great value for money, would definitely go back.
Nice, quiet surroundings but a disappointing and very expensive breakfast. Delaunay next door is much better!
Lovely food, great service from the waitress and waiters. Will definitely be going back.
We visited the restaurant to celebrate my GF daughter's 40th birthday. It couldn't have been more perfect!
The pleasure of being able to choose from the menu without worrying or compromising her choices was such a treat. The food was fabulous, such good value too and the wine choices suggested to us were perfect. The service was outstanding and we will definitely be revisiting. Highly recommended for everyone not just Coeliac/Gf/non dairy diners.
We had a really lovely evening and a nice meal with friends. The food was great and we enjoyed the live music from the bar. Well worth a visit.
Highly recommend a visit to Indigo at One Aldwych. The food was delicious. The service was attentive but not imposing. Lovely surroundings. A faultless experience and have recommended to friends. I look forward to returning.
Theatre. All great
I was absolutely delighted with our visit to Indigo. The food was of a very high standard and the beef was superbly cooked. The timing worked perfectly for a pre theatre meal and it was located close to a number of major theatres. An excellent ambiance and great service by very friendly staff. All the dishes were dairy free which was perfect for my wife who is on a low fat diet. We shall certainly return when we are next in the West End. I have already recommended the restaurant to others. Without doubt a five star experience!
Amazing service and food, I would highly recommend for anyone with food intolerances. The set menu was great value. I wish there were more gf and df places like this.
Pre theatre dinner so not much atmosphere but pleasant environment and v nice staff. We had fixed menu - beef was good, pineapple carpaccio was lovely. Staff extremely pleasant. Bit pricey but overall a good experience.
I visited Indigo with 5 friends. We had a lovely meal with very attentive service. The food was superb and we will be going back
Delicious food, helpful and friendly staff who were knowledgeable and flexible regarding my gluten free and vegan requirements. Highly recommended for those who cannot eat gluten and dairy.
This is my favourite restaurant in London! Being Coeliac it’s so nice to be able to completely relax & enjoy a stunning meal that I know is gluten free! I particularly love the home made bread which is always so special!
Delicious food, we all had the set menu, and it was a joy to be able to order anything and not worry about gluten or dairy! Every dish we had (3 of us) was absolutely delicious. The setting on the mezzanine is very nice, and it was quiet when we visited (pre-theatre).
