We had a wonderful last meal before the second COVID shutdown. Food and service were just perfect from Muhammad and the team. Well done Itihaas.
Exceptionally tasty and authentic Indian cuisine. Generous portion sizes.
Great decor and ambience.
Brilliant customer service. Meticulous and attention to detail. Can’t wait to go again.
Overall good food service was not so good
Really nice service and food
I've been 2 times now and loved it both times. The staff are really friendly and attentive. The food and atmosphere are really nice
I had booked this restaurant having decided to look beyond the usual multitude of Indian restaurants available in Birmingham accepting that it may be more costly than the usual choices. Also, I was interested to experience food that had been described in some of the reviews read that it was more like authentic Indian food than other places.
On arriving we were sat immediately at the table booked and therefore didn’t use the area where the bar was which looked like a pleasant place to have drink should you have to wait. The restaurant itself was very tastefully furnished, decorated and suitably spaced.
We ordered some popadums to start along with a Chilli Garlic prawns from the Indo Chinese section. The prawns were very tasty and substantial, however the noodles weren’t crispy as described on the menu. However, overall the flavour of the sauce was very good and with the right level of spice as to not overwhelm the prawns.
The main courses we ordered were lamb rogan josh and makhani chicken. We also had a garlic naan and mushroom pilau to accompany them.
The lamb was very lean and tender. The sauce was medium spiced and not overly hot, with additional coriander which gave it a fresh flavour. The chicken dish was tasty, not spicy and rich in flavour. However, I did think it wasn’t too different from the same dish served elsewhere. The naan was fresh and well cooked just as I like them with a strong garlic flavour. The rice was ok but the truffle oil addition was not really apparent.
The drinks were fairly priced and suitably chilled, we ordered a bottle of dry white and large cobra beer. The waiter was attentive without being obtrusive.
Overall, I would recommend a visit to Itihaas if you are looking for an Indian restaurant that is a bit different to the usual choices.
Another excellent night at Itihaas- such great service and absolutely delicious food
Excellent service ! Waiters are so lovely and the food was superb! definitely be going back
Excellent food and ambience.
The only problem we had was getting our drinks re-ordered, due to same staff serving you when we requested of another waiter we were left waiting for second lot of drinks for 20mins.
We would go again as the food was amazing! Thank you we had a lovely evening !
Service was absolutely terrible. 40 minute waits between meals. They cleared the table after dinner and didn’t even offer a dessert menu or ask for additional drinks until being prompted 30 minutes later.
Felt more like a canteen, very disappointed, had very high hopes after a wonderful experience there before.
Food was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant was set out really well. Would recommend to anyone
I have been to the restaurant in the past on numerous occasion and the food was lovely. I was very disappointed on this occasion the chilli paneer tatse like it was made last night and it wasn't tasty at all. The curry wasn't great either I am not one of the them to complaint otherwise I would have asked for a refund. I didn't have a great experience and my gf thought the same
It was great. However, the service was slow. They forgot our drinks twice, but other than that. It was great
Over priced restaurant and the staff was too busy. Wait time was long for starters and main.
The decor is out of date. It was very dark and lights kept flashing. The food is mediocre. I wouldn't pay full price for the meal. The service was non-existent, apart from one female waitress. I will never go back.
Loved the food ! Service was amazing . My favourite place for good Food
We really enjoy going to Itihaas . The food is always delicious, staff very courteous and friendly, beautiful ambience. We’ve been to several fine dine places all over the country -itihaas is one of the best all around
Starters were nice, mains were not great. Plus food is very expensive so not really worth the price
Terrible! Horrible service and horrible food, terrible person who entered us.
Excellent service and the food was fantastic and very good value would definitely dine there again .
Service was slow! We were made to wait for a table even though we had booked- makes no sense.
Waiter was begging for a tip which made us feel a bit uncomfortable!
Food was good especially the safari platter
Great food, table was at 9:30pm and we were told the restaurant closed at 10.30pm so felt a little rushed, even though people came after us. Everything was excellent and the safari platter was delicious, my only criticism would be that we were given ketchup as part of the pickle tray with poppadoms which was odd and a first for both of us.
Service was great too.
A lovely Indian restaurant not typically decorated in the usual style, it felt quite cosy with a calming ambience. Food very tasty. Service excellent. Would definitely visit again and would recommend to others.
Fabulous food as always
We visited Itihaas very shortly after restaurants were allowed to re-open following the coronavirus pandemic. The restaurant was quite empty and unfortunately a diner on another table felt it was quite appropriate to take a very loud and long business call on his mobile; but aside from that, everyone was charming and helpful, and the food was delicious, with generous portion sizes.
Having visited for many years, it was our first choice for super Saturday. Itihaas did not disappoint on any level, ot made us so glad to return to normal and we felt so safe because tye hygenie levels were impeccable and we were so happy for the staff to be back at work. The key point I would make about this restaurant is that it the only one of which I can saythat I can day have absolute consistency any day of the week, year after year. I love eating out and being loyal to my faves but thats not always possible, it is at Itihaas.
The food at Itihaas was amazing!! Really delicious! The ambiance was great too! I would highly recommend this place for a special occasion.
Very busy being a Saturday night but service and food quality was outstanding still. Will definitely return and recommend
Booked a table of 4 for Saturday 15th February. Table was available after only a 5 minute wait. Service was a little slow initially but then very attentive thereafter. Our main waiter was humourous and attentive but others were a little matter of fact and dull.
Drinks are quite expensive but food is amazing. We all enjoyed started and mains, word to the wise starters and rice portions are big enough to share. No issues.
Overall recommend to at least give it a try!!
This restaurant is normally faultless, fantastic food, however was rather disappointed this time round
It took 50 minutes to bring out starters, where we found the prawns really nice however the raja lamb was disappointing.
The main was very good which was a chicken dish.
Please improve your service times and levels, you charge a premium price so I expect premium service
The staff are very friendly. Our food took longer than normal but our waiter, along with the manager, was very apologetic and gracious and gave us some free starters for the inconvenience
Poor service we hd to ask for our popadams. They came 40 minutes after we sat down. We had a set valentines menu and our soup wasnt served at all. We hd to pay the full price for the course even though a full course wasnt given. The service was awful. Not attentive at all, quite disappointed
The food was really good, the service was decent we asked for a sauce and they completely forgot we requested it which was annoying at the time. Be careful with their special occasion menu because they didn’t include that the meal price was per person it was a unpleasant surprise when i asked for the bill.
It was brilliant. Kamaljit in particular really catered to our needs. It was a special date night and he ensured everything I asked for was provided.
My second visit here recently & not disappointed at all. The food was excellent, promptly served & staff friendly. I’ll be visiting again very soon. Great restaurant 👍
Really enjoyable meal. Excellent food and service.
We arrived at 8pm and we were not seated until over an hour later. We kept being told the table would be ready in 5mins. When we were seated we waited for a while for a server to come over and take a drinks order. No one came and in the end we had flag someone down. This happened again when we needed to order a food. It took approx 1 hour 45 mins from us arriving to us ordering. The food was ok once it arrived. They gave us bottled water and poppodums on the house to compensate, not really much considering we were happy to just have tap water!! Very disappointing service.
