We always like having brunch, but due to meetings we had to have a late lunch. I was happy because I was able to have the wonderful baked potato and my friends enjoyed their picks, as well. Since we arrive early, we had to stay at the bar and munch pretzel sticks, but our bartender was understanding and keep a vigilant eye on us so that we could have lunch on time.

I love the spinach with garlic, though this time it was a bit too salty. The green beans with pecans were delicious. The filet had excellent taste! The bread was wonderful. I also enjoyed mashed potatoes with garlic added!

The atmosphere is welcoming, low key, with the rooms divided into private spaces. Our waitress, Natalia, was friendly and efficient. The food was good, though the steaks are a bit pricey. We enjoyed having a quiet conversation with our daughter.

The cowboy ribeye was outstanding, the seafood was average. The service was average, the waiter never took the plate away from either the bread or the plate when we were finish which is a big deal for me.

Outstanding restaurant and staff. Our server went above and beyond and the management is very present and involved at this place! The steaks are cooked to perfection, amazing sides and apps. It's our go to steak restaurant!

Filet was ok, scallops a bit overdone, too many potato options on the side would like more veggie options. Onion ring app was good. Alcohol was above average in price (one shot of goose was $13). Ambiance was ok, good HH scene. Marginal steak house - better value at Morton's.

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely anniversary dinner, with attentive and thoughtful service. Champagne on ice when we arrived, nice ambience and comfort, the food was well prepared, all in all a very good experience. Pricey, but we got what we paid for.

The prices are good and the food is excellent. The service is good but not quite great. If you want Mastro’s level food at a slightly reduced price (Not Cheap) but are not quite expecting Mastro’s level service, this is your spot.

My companions always order the filet done medium-well and love it. I prefer the flavor of sirloin to filet myself, and on the last couple of visits to this J. Gilbert's, I've had some rather tough steaks. This time, going against the grain, I ordered the salmon, and other than for the fact that I prefer Pacific salmon over the farm raised that they serve here, I thought it was excellent. Grilled just right with a touch of smoky flavor. Next time I think I'll try the chicken.

We had to wait for our table to be ready (reservation was for 8pm on a Saturday night). We were taken to our table, then just 2 mins later moved to a much better one by three fireplace. Service was good, steaks were cooked well. Overall it was good, but for just a few dollars more I think there are better places.

Overall a wonderful experience! The food and decor were what we expected however for a restaurant in this price point the service was lacking to say the least. I don’t even know where to start except to say that we could have served ourselves and had a better flow of food, sides and dessert.

What impressed us was the friendliness of the service staff. Our waiter, Aziz, was attentive and particularly good with our two toddlers. He was often thinking about what they (and we) might need to keep them occupied.

Three friends got together for a lunch that stretched into just shy of 2 hours. Two of us had net seen one another for 25 years!

We had an excellent set of lunch items and returned three empty plates to the kitchen. We ate about 2/3 rds of the bread.

The place was full but we could talk without shouting or straining to hear.

One of the trio used the valet parking - we, the other two, found close spots and self-parked.

A great place for a long lunch and some laughs.

I'm not sure I've ever had a bad meal or experience at J. Gilbert's. This week I came in after seeing them advertise an entree of Striped Bass. Once again, they did not disappoint. Don't even get me started on their in house made carrot cake! I enjoy the food, the ambiance and seeing familiar faces each time we come in.

Fantastic food, as always. Service was a little slow, with cocktails arriving after the food and no steak sauce offered. Front desk did not check us in so received a message from open table saying I missed the reservation. Was also here with family about a month before, our reservation requested a seat near the fireplace. We did get the seat but fireplace was off. We asked several people if they could turn it on and received responses that they don’t know how or will check. After the 4th person we gave up and the staff did not offer reasoning. Overall, this place is lovely and we try to visit regularly.

Great wood fired steaks. Lobster was great and crab cakes were the best we’ve had her in the DMV area. We recently moved here 😉. The waitress was a little slow in refilling our drinks but the place was hoppin’ for a random Monday night. Only think I would change is how the over cook the meat was for the kids. I think we’ll don’t is a bit over kill for older kids. It states that on the menu but perhap a medium well steak would be nice for the older kids....I’m sure we’ll be eating here again. Thanks for a great dinner.
