Food and drinks were excellent. Service (Hugo) was even better. Second time here and will definitely be back again
Fantastic meal and exceptional service! We will definitely be back to J Gilbert’s soon!
Server was amazing
ordered lamb rack, (it has only four ribs but prepared nice. mushroom/rice side was excellent. also ordered the lobster cob salad, perhaps light on both the lobster and traditional bacon. cocktails were quite nice. service, seemed chaotic, server was switched out, difficult to find server, especially at end of meal, had to get up and walk around in search. were they understaffed?
J Gilbert’s has gone way down hill. Recently raised prices and decreased the portions. I ordered a $42 tuna steak. It was just heated up and served. No toppings. Oyster Rockefeller was the worst I ever had.
Great service and excellent food.
The food and service were very good. Enjoyed the chips with blue cheese dressing/sauce appetizer, it was a unique item on the menu.
We have always had a great experience. Indoor and outdoor seating available!
What a great anniversary dinner. Thank you!
Service and food was spectacular!! Filet was perfectly cooked and scallops were delicious. Great, friendly and very attentive server.
Wait staff was not attentive. Never checked in to see if we needed anything even though our iced tea glasses were empty. :-(
Sat outside in tent open on one side, tables properly distanced, staff wore masks. If you make a reservation through Open Table, ask your server to inform reception desk that you are there.
I had the mini fillet mignon with scallops. My husband had the scallops with lobster risotto. Both meals were delicious and the lobster rissoto was the best ever.
Great food and service! Can’t wait to go back and enjoy the experience again!
Too dark inside, told the lights could not be adjusted.Felt like I was seated in a dark alley... Poor hostesses service!!!
Waitress, Sarah was awesome!!!!
Food and cocktails were great. Good date night atmosphere. People dressed more casually than I would have expected for a Saturday night. Definitely would go again.
Great night out! it was our first “dining in” experience because of the pandemic. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was great & Hugo our waiter was FABULOUS
Our waiter Hugo made our special luncheon special! The service was an 11 out of 10 and the food was great!
We sat outside under a tent. It was relatively quiet and we were all alone under that tent. Service was exceptional and the food and drink were excellent. J Gilbert’s is a favorite of ours and it never lets us down.
Overpriced and awful food
Wonderful food, outdoor safe environment, good waiter and great prices
Great power lunch options and prices. We were served by Sarah B. who did an outstanding job tending to our needs and wants! She has a bubbly personality.
Ms. Anez was awesome! We are regulars but always enjoy a fresh face! Food this time came 2nd to the the service! The food is fantastic, we love J.G.!
Always a great place for business meal. The food was stellar.
As expected, good food and service.
Always a local favorite. Now that we have moved away, we come here as often as we can when visiting our old neighborhood. Food here is always above average. Service is always terrific too. You can count on it.
Nice evening to eat outdoors, just a bit chilly though. The restaurant has outdoor tents but no heating lamps, so come bundled.
Everything was awesome! Service was awesome!
We came to our reservation on time and was seated. A server came pass the table to inform us she wasn’t our server but she will bring water. She did. When our server finally came, wearing loosely fitting black gloves, the first thing she said was “Hi, the kitchen is getting ready to close”. After awaiting her long arrival, we were already prepared to give our order. She returned, still wear the gloves, with bread and 4 appetizer plates, 2 were visibly dirty and she took them back, needless to say, we didn’t eat off any of them. The presentation of the meals was nice. Yet, the medium-well steak came out medium-rare. Their “correction” was to recook the same steak and, of course, it returned well-done. The ribs were tender and fell out the bones, yet not flavorful at all. The BBQ sauce was “off”. Only ate 2 at the restaurant and took the rest home and add Sweet Baby Ray’s. We rarely eat ribs with sauce, when smoked/cooked right, yet these needed some help.
Will never return to this place. Rude server and she wore the same gloves the entire time. Food not appetizing. The best thing was the bread. Even the Caesar salad was off.
I ordered the 4 oz, filet with seared scallops. Both were delicious. My friend got the scallop dinner, also great. We shared a bottle of Merlot which was a very good value. For appetizers I had the chicken tortilla soup. It was an excellent value for the money, and really more than I expected. He got the Caesar salad which was also quite large. Our waiter was excellent. He was attentive, friendly, and very professional in his demeanor. I will definitely plan on returning soon.
Seaford special was over salted and drowned in butter, like Red Lobster. Both myself and date were up all night with stomach issues and meal that would not digest.
Always on point.
Always an enjoyable meal here. Wait staff was attentive and friendly.
Excellent crab cakes, ribs, and steak along with yummy bread.
Drinks were slow being served, the weight staff was slow and didn’t check in. My medium rare steak was well done along with my buddy’s and no one came to check with us so we could tell them.
Although prices seem high, the portions are large. The wait staff was cordial, friendly, efficient. (An "outstanding" wasn't high enough!) We brought a friend of ours for the first time. He was impressed as well.
Great experience and great food. This is one my new go to places.
We were seated right away outside but they didn’t have menus printed. After 15 minutes of no one coming to our table, I asked a waiter and he handed me one crumpled paper menu (obviously used) to share for 4 people and gave us water and took our drink order. I finally went inside and they said they were still printing them. I asked them to go back and please get some because I knew they’d been printing for at least 15 minutes. They came out with a 1 inch stack. The waiter did not take our order until 30 minutes after we were seated (I was checking my watch, so this is not an exaggeration). We barely saw him on the floor and didn’t even get refills for those 30 minutes. Meanwhile, 3 tables in the tented area that were seated after us already had their food by the time the waiter took our order.
Our food arrived and everything was good, except my father asked for his hamburger medium rare and it was definitely cooked through/dry. The other meals were good. By the time we were done, our waiter was talking at a table with another waiter for over 10 minutes despite our trying to get his attention to order dessert, we had told him we were celebrating a birthday. Finally we just got the bill and left, no dessert, no nothing.
Normally, I would just chalk it up to being short-staffed due to Covid etc, but all the other tables were getting good service. This was the first time I was able to get my elderly parents out of the house in over a year, and it was a very mediocre experience due 100% to the waiter we had, so it was very disappointing and a very sad birthday celebration.
I’d like to add that I’ve been to J.Gilbert’s 100s of times (was our bi-weekly brunch for many years) and always had a good experience, but this visit really ruined it for us. I will go back, but not as regularly as I did pre-Covid.
They have set up outdoor dining due to Covid so it was a relaxed setting.
Always love the filet and the salmon.
