Lovely jewel with amazing food! Yellowtail snapper was Devine and so was the Italian wedding soup ❤️
Great food and excellent service!
Just not great ....good not great
Good and service always excellent.
An excellent experience. The food was outstanding, the great service and fabulous entertainment. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Very disappointing...Necessary to ask Hostess(Owner/Manager?) for better seating when better seating available, despite being after peak period.
Food order incorrect...Out of wine listed on Wine List...Necessary to request water.
Left 20% tip as a matter of personal practice.
My husband and I arranged to have dinner with four friends on a recent Tuesday evening at Josephine's. It did state on the restaurant's website that the vocalist, Alexandra Lewis performs every Tuesday and Thursday, which I assumed was in the area of the bar. First red flag of the evening was when I called the restaurant to confirm my reservation, made through Open Table, and the voice on the phone had no record of it (I had a confirmation number) and was not apologetic. The night of our dinner, my husband and I were the first of our party to arrive, and a server brought us to a round table in the corner, seemingly a perfect location for a quiet, relaxing evening. And so we thought. Shortly after we all had been seated, Ms. Alexandra Lewis began to sing in the dining room (not the bar), her voice amplified by a microphone even though the room was small. Her medley of songs continued for two-three hours, with loud recorded music playing during one short break. Expecting Josephine's to provide a pleasing atmosphere conducive to a relaxing dinner, we instead became part of a small audience for a 'concert' that required our yelling across our table to hear and be heard. A few times, we asked our server if the volume of the music could be lowered, which it never was. This same server must have overheard remarks we made to each other about the loud music, which he then reported to the management. Upon leaving the restaurant, a woman who appeared to be an employee, took me aside to say that I was the most rude person she had ever met because of my displeasure with the "entertainment." It is clear that Josephine's did not value us as patrons that evening, nor did they care if we ever returned in the future. It was the first time ,and the last, to be subjected to a loud musical program during a restaurant meal, where guests simply want to enjoy the company of friends, conversation, and the food -- to which I give a grade of B-
We went with another couple to celebrate my husband's birthday. A summer menu was posted online. When it didn't appear on the menu, I inquired and the owner came to our table and informed us that the summer menu doesn't begin until July and refused to honor it even after she checked the internet and confirmed that that menu was already posted. I then asked her what she could do for us to make up for the misinformation. She didn't respond, just turned away and left us. We were shocked that an owner would be so blatantly rude to a customer. We considered leaving at that point, but didn't want to ruin the birthday celebration. The waiter was also very short with us. When I told him that it was my husband's birthday, he offered to bring out a chocolate cake with a candle. I thought that after all that had transpired, the piece of cake would be gratis. It was not. After my husband finished his cake, the waiter asked everyone else at the table if they would like dessert. That was obviously an afterthought on his part. I never remember being treated so rudely in a restaurant. The food was okay, but I would never recommend that anyone ever visit that establishment. Customers should be treated with respect and dignity. We were treated as outcasts.
Summer menu which is advertised was not honored. Music was very nice.
Our martinis were very well made. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice and very conducive to a leisurely night out. Ore food was very good--no complaints.
Neighborhood Gem. Authentic Italian. Friendly homey feel. Great family restaurant.
Have been wanting to try this place for a while, and reservations are hard to get. Thought it was going to be more “fine dining”, but it was more casual. The hostess was accommodating, but not friendly at all. It was as though it was an imposition that we came into her restaurant. The waiter was just as cold. Had we not asked if there were any specials, he would not have provided them. The food itself was good, it didn’t wow me. The friendliest person there was the valet.
We have dined there before and the service was incredible. Unfortunately we did not have the greatest service this time. the food never disappoints but we will be back again
Excellent - have frequented Josephine's for many years. Josephine adds her personal touch greeting guests!
Always excellent... Food and service was perfect. A neighborhood gem.
Haven’t eaten at Josephine s in quite a while and forgot just how good it is. Great food, attentive long-time waiters, very pleasant atmosphere, all at a reasonable price. We will be back more frequently.
When our meal was served, the rack of lamb was not edible. When the server took it back he asked if we would like to have it taken off the bill. We said yes since he said the other racks would be the same. When the check came, it was adjusted for the lamb, but they did charge us for the very small salad and the pasta that remained on the table after he removed the lamb. How small minded and cheap.
I have eaten at Josephine's many times and had many a family event there as well.
I had not returned since the Covid Pandemic, but now that I have been vaccinated I feel better about eating out.
This was our first meal out with friends.
Josephine and her staff delivered the type of service and food quality that I remember.
When we came in the restaurant wasn't crowded and we had a choice of outside, but that was noisy with street car traffic so we opted for a table inside by the glass wall near another rooom. although the tables were close, no one was next or behind us and we thought they would have the 6 feet distancing. Not so, as a bit later they put people on tables almost on top of us and then the noise started because of the proximity. we had asked for a quiet table because of hearing problems. Dinner was ok, not great as it used to be, and they don't have the prix fixed menu any longer and the prices have gone up more than a bit. Final straw was when we got the bill, they added a $150 bottle of wine to our bill which we didn't order. Told that to the waiter. He took it back withut apology and corrected bill. When I went to the door, I told the owner/manager what had happened with the bill, she didn't even apologize and just said well, sometimes there's a mistake. Since they had charged us for the one glass of wine that I had, it's hard to believe that they could they could make such a huge error and she just waved it off. Lesson = always check your bill before you hand over your credit card. We used to go to Josephine's a few times a season, even when they were in the little store years ago. wow, that's how you loose a long, steady customer. Be careful if you go there.
Love the entertainment
The food at Josephine's is above average. The service was terrible, not enough staff to cover the tables Very crowded, at 100%. The singer is very enjoyable however she was much too loud which forced people to almost scream just to speak to someone at our own table. Our waiter seemed to be in another world. One dinner he brought to our table was missing one of the main ingredients but he delivered it anyway. This is something that should be caught by the expediter, and if not, then definitely by the server. When my friend complained, the owner came over, sneered at the dish, made some condescending remarks, and walked away. There are plenty of other good restaurants that make you feel like a valued customer and are grateful that you chose their place to spend your money. This is not that place. We will probably not be back.
Excellent dining experience! My 91-year-old mother, my brother and sister-in-law from Tennessee, and my new husband and myself were there to celebrate our marriage that morning.
We sat outside, lucky enough to have a delightful breeze, and we had the nicest, most unobtrusive waiter who was quick to fill our drink orders and bring warm bread to our table.
We ordered a few appetizers along with fish and chicken entrees, which came with pasta or vegetables. Wish I could be more specific, but the day was filled with so many lovely memories, I can't remember exact dishes!
I can say that overall, it was a perfect ending to a wonderful day. Josephine's is most definitely a place we will re-visit. If you haven't been there, I urge you to go.
I have been living in the area since 2005 and passed this restaurant many times but never ate here. I tried it for the first time and found it to be excellent. Sorry I never went sooner. Excellent food and service.
Excellent food, great service, noise level a little loud as we had 2 tables near us that were shouting at each other while we were eating. Josephine's seems to be a great host.
Yellow tail Frances delightful.
Eggplant rolatini had a light sweet taste to it. Very different and real good.
Service seemed to be a little understaffed.
Singer as usual was super!!! Continues to be great addition to environment.
Appetizer came out and then the meal came out my wife meal was cold.
Ordered gelato it was melting when it came to table cappuccino was only half full
We will never go there again
Our food was delicious. My husband had a special pork chop and I had the eggplant parmigiano! That eggplant is always so good! Service was great!
I enjoyed the music, but, I have to say it is very loud for a place that size. It is hard to talk over it. It should be background music.
Good meal overall.
Loved this quaint Italian family style restaurant. We sat outside on the patio and felt the warm breeze and enjoyed the beautiful orchards and fauna that surrounded us. Great food and service. We had the snapper and pasta bolognese- both were delicious!
Food and service were very good. The hostess was unfriendly and unhelpful. Had a reservation which the hostess cared little about.
Great food and service
The food was better this day then when we went on 3/13/21. When we went on 3/13 our waiter never offered us salad and/or soup which our waiter on 3/17 did. My broccoli rabe and sausage entree on 3/13 had very very dry sausage, so dry I couldn’t eat it. The spedini was delicious both nights 3/13 and 3/17. My linguine and clam was delicious on 3/17, as was the soup and salad. Our waiter on 3/17 was excellent, he was very attentive, gave us extra bread and garlic, and was very efficient and kind. Our waiter on 3/13 besides neglecting to offer us the included salad and/or soup was slow and inattentive. So I guess we have a mixed review. . .Maybe a Saturday night isn’t the time to go to this restaurant.
Went there on Saturday night the 13th of March. Was in town visiting my parents and wanted to take them for a nice meal. They picked Josephine's based on prior good experiences. Well after this experience, they will not be going back.
The food was fine which is usually most important; however, by the time they brought it we lost all desire to eat. Reservation was for 7pm and they sat us on time. Our meals were served after 9pm. While we waited over two hours for our food, there was what I would call more of a show than a singer performing. A gentleman with a very nice voice singing mostly older Italian classics and some opera (accompanied by a women with an excellent voice as well) were beyond loud and didn't take a break for at least 90 minutes. Not at all what we were expecting nor wanted that evening.
Then the icing on the cake was when he sang the Star Spangled Banner announcing to the people that he is celebrating his 10 year anniversary of becoming an American citizen. During the song, every single person stood up as if we were at a sporting event that was about to begin. Just very strange and really annoying mostly because we were hungry and just wanted our food.
2+ hours to bring food to a table is just unacceptable. other tables were seated well after us and finished their meals before ours was brought to the table. One of the worst dining experiences I have every had and it was not because of the food. Just felt that we were either treated wrong or someone made a mistake with our orders as the waitress apologizes at least 5-6 times while we waited.
We went to hear the featured opera singers on a Saturday night and they were outstanding! Unfortunately, the remaining experience was far below our expectations.. the service was poor, the waiters were running around unable to keep up with the orders, the food was barely warm and after repetitive attempts to flag the waiter for some wine we ended up making a separate trip to the bar. The place was packed..
Been here a few times and decided to meet old friends from Reno here. They loved it and the ambiance
We had great food, great music- the female opera singer was wonderful!
The best part of the evening was standing up when they began the National Anthem! Very moving. We’ll be back! Well done!
This was the best evening I have had in the 8 weeks we have been in Boca Raton. We have eaten here before and enjoyed the music, I was totally surprised to find a singer on this evening. She was wonderful!!!! And she had some of the diners join her in several songs. I don’t know if this was prearranged but absolutely delightful.
And the food! Was fabulous.... we shared clams oreganato to start, excellent clams and a tasty sauce that we sopped up with the bread. Entrees come with salad which was crispy and the dressing...creamy a bit lemony abd delicious. Entrees were both veal..parmigiana and Francese, we were pleased to have pasta sides in place of potatoes and vegetables. We enjoyed our wine and listening to the music. I am sorry that we waited to visit...a great evening
Restaurant was very accommodating since they didn’t receive our reservation from open table, but it too forever to even place a drink order...we had to request bread and our order took a really long time.also, I personally got the wrong entree and was not offered to make it right! There are 100’s of Italian restaurants in the area...we will not be back!
Too loud. Poor service
Great food at fair price
It's not fair to judge a place at this time but not a good showing at this time way below par for us .
The food is consistently great.
Phil was our wonderful server
