Roasted Peking Duck in 2 Courses
Course 1: In addition to the pancakes, cucumber, spring onion & the sweet 'duck sauce', our version is served with a dash of our signature chilli sambal made with red chilies, shallots and yellow bean. Restaurants have their own versions of Peking duck and we wanted to pay homage to chilli oil, a condiment which is a tradition of every table in London's Chinese restaurants. Course 2 (Served with your main course): Duck stir-fried with the classic combination of oyster sauce, shimeji mushrooms, asparagus and sugar snaps

Brilliant food
I think Kai tops the list on my favourite oriental restaurant in Mayfair. Had a lovely time and the food was divine. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it and I’ll definitely be coming here regularly. All the staff were pleasant and helpful, especially the sommelier with choosing our wine for the night.
Impressive food, from the starters up to the dessert. Excellent wine pairing recommendations by Matt (very knowledgeable sommelier, which is always a plus!)
Nicley decorated, modern but a bit eclectic chinese vibe. Service was top notch, as you would excpect from a Michelin star restaurant. Food was great in preparation, taste and presentation. They have a very big wine list.
Would come back for another plate of peking duck.
Wonderful, inventive and delicious food and cocktails. A really special birthday celebration.
Initial service terrible. Poor table. My wife arrived first and was seated, then ignored. I arrived. Was seated and then ignored. The maitre d’ when he arrived at least tried to remedy the situation a little. Food was well made if a little tepid when it arrived. The numerous staff still seemed to struggle with the concept of hospitality. I know it is a difficult time for the industry and I’m sorry to give a negative review but I’m afraid I would give this one a miss.
Food delicious as always but service could be improved! Had to wait 15 minutes for the table - coats weren’t taken and drinks weren’t offered. Beancurd pancake also got forgotten and was brought with the main course. Food delicious but service needs the be improved!
Birthday dinner. Food and service and setting exceptional
Great food and service. Really made our meal special! Highly recommend.
Decent food a bit overpriced for what it was, I think also for that price I would expect a slightly more opulent ambience imo
Overall good food good service
Great restaurant, staff and food quality! Always a pleasure to eat here.
I went here for my birthday meal and it was amazing, good service and very friendly. I will defo go back.
The food was not the the standard of Michelin star restaurants. The food resembled a simple Chinese takeaway but at a Michelin star price, extremely disappointing. Along with this, the restaurant was not covid safe. The tables were cramped together in the basement. Would not go there again
Kai was nice, a little quiet but not bad. The food was fairly good but I won’t deny I was expecting better. It was very expensive for what it was and Hakkasan, as a comparison, is far far better by way of quality, general ambience and an experience.
Always delicious! The most refined Chinese food in London
Amazing food as usual and great service!
Starters were amazing. Mains were decent but not good value for money. Desert was ok. Service was fantastic!
One of my favourite restaurants in London! Their lobster tail is the one, but this time I was duly impressed by the lamb chops. Can’t wait to come back for more of this lush place.
Another fantastic meal at Kai. Especially during Tier 2 corona conditions the staff were excellent at looking after us while making us feel safe. Food was of course great. I recommend the 3 Chill Chai dish.
I think it’s changed hands, not as good as the last 5 years we’ve been going.
Simply AMAZING!
Food was superb, especially the wasabi prawns. Service was attentive and friendly.
Highly recommend.
Excellent service, food and ambience. Made it a wonderful birthday experience for our 5 year olds birthday.
The service was good. Venue is proper for special occasion. Came here for my birthday. Ordered Peking roast duck. The duck skin is too dry and it does not taste like freshly chopped. The duck meat is too tight, and should have been fattier for better taste. I would easily name other five restaurants that make more authentic Peking duck here in London. The desert is amazing though, the coconut mango lizhi ice cream one. In all, given its price, quite overrated as a Michelin Star 1.
We’ve been a guests of the restaurant many times, although this time tasted as it was completely different place. Food very poor quality, bad atmosphere bad experience
Won’t go again!!!
Food are very impressive. Must try the wasabi prawn and wagyu beef. We will return for these two dishes.
Wine list is very impressive too, but relatively more expensive compared to other restaurants when looking at same wine.
In times when so many places are disappointing with restrictions and cut backs, this place is still going above and beyond. They made us feel like there was nothing was too much and I did not hear ‘because of Covid’ once! They were perfect and we were so happy!!
Fantastic customer service! Great food! Cocktails are really good too. A bit pricey but lovely restaurant
Gorgeous meal at Kai, the service is exceptional, the food is outstanding with some amazing flavours. Seared beef and prawn toast were the stand out starters, the roast lamb the best main, and you have to try all the desserts. A huge amount of work goes into the food here, extra touches such as complimentary petit fours, and it's very covid safe! Highly recommend!
Amazing birthday celebrations! Great service and food was yummy
Great food and service. Although the decoration is excellent too, the fact that I ate my lunch in a basement with no daylight, was a problem for me. At tleast at this price level.
Great food and service as always. The vegetarian options are fantastic.
Beautiful food! Excellent service.
Fabulous food in a lovely restaurant. Staff were amazing
I went for my 21st birthday, and the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. As an anxious person, I immediately felt at ease and comfortable, and the staff very kindly brought out a complimentary dessert platter for my birthday. The food was absolutely outstanding and full of flavour, and portions were well-sized- I very much look forward to returning.
(Highly recommend the ginger and sesame oil fried rice!)
Everyone was lovely. From entry they were very helpful and kind. I enjoyed my dinner and my girlfriend had a great ending to her birthday. Thank you for the little birthday cake.
Kai Mayfair is never a fail. Every experience with Kai has been superb. We travel from the Midlands just for evening and it’s worth it.
My family and I have been to Kai twice before and were excited to be going
I had a phone call midday confirming the booking and stating we should arrive on time to assure ourselves of the full experience. We arrived 10 minutes early and was shown to our table. That was the last moment we felt we were in a Michelin star restaurant
Throughout the meal the waitress was checking her watch. Asking could she take and order before we had event been asked did we want an aperitif. We asked could we have the ‘celebrated’ duck course; only with the starter as there was insufficient time for it separately. At 8.45pm she told us the kitchen would be closing so did we want any more food and what did we want for dessert; we were still eating our main course! We asked to speak to the manager who was confrontational and said it was mandated the kitchen closed at 9pm; this is not the case. When I asked why couldn’t they wait to take our order for dessert she stated “there is only once choice left, chocolate dessert”. I challenged why a Michelin star restaurant would only have one choice left - nothing to suggest they though this was unacceptable.
We challenged the bill which was excessive in view of the food - average but not Michelin star quality - and the shoddy service.
Business is challenging right now - I understand that. If you cannot achieve the standards you advertise don’t open
