‘Beccleuch Estate Sirloin with black pepper, garlic flakes and sliced Chinese croissant’ ‘Steamed Chilean Sea bass Fillet, Chopped Snow Leaf topped with Shrimp Crumble’ are examples of Kai’s modern approach to Chinese cooking. The style is fresh and innovative but never forgetting it’s true Chinese roots.
‘The gracious service makes one feel like a regular within a visit or two.’ Zagat 2009
Really great service, With a soy allergy this isn't the best cuisine to try. But the manager was very helpful prior to booking and waiter/waitress were very considerate towards my allergy and very informative.
Lovely food with great tastes. Very cosy atmosphere.
This was a birthday celebration with family. The food, service and ambience were second to none, as usual. A wonderful experience with twists of real genius.
Just wonderful what more can I say. 3rd visit and we will be back, delicious food and wonderful staff. My family had a wonderful experience in fact so good we went twice in 4 days
Four of us had lunch at Kai - we had set menus.
The service was lovely and the food was tasty. However, it was a little strange as items were arriving one each from set menu - so for example we would receive one tiny plate of noodles, one tiny piece of seabass and it would be a bit akward to share between the four of us. Table of two next to us were receiving the same amount and sharing to two which is easier. It would be more comfortable if four people were getting at least two of the dishes, otherwise it appears that we paying more but getting less... we had to ask to repeat some of the dishes as it wasnt enough for all four people to try and we were given a repeat, but this wasnt made clear to us at the beginning and thus the experience wasnt as great as it could have been.
Superb food and service
Foods are amazing
AMAZING , BEST DUCK WRAAAPSSS
You absolutely must try the Roasted Chilean Seabass!
Food was just normal not outstanding.
Look at the restaurant from the outside I thought it would be an elegant, sort of like fine dining restaurant. However, the ambiance inside was just the opposite.
Not saying that they are bad, but don’t think I wanna go back next time.
Amazing service, food was stunning. Definitely go back again. Best Chinese restaurant I’ve been to.
Wonderful dinner — very tasty and nice looking food doubled by a friendly and attentive service.
The best Chinese in London
We went to Kai Mayfair to celebrate my birthday this year. Kai's Chinese cuisine is rather creative, unconventional and well presented. All ingredients used tasted fresh and well seasoned although overall it is a bit on the mild side to my liking. Do ask for their desserts menu, we loved and enjoyed our deserts so much, we may go back soon just to enjoy the deserts again.
Kai is known as one of the top Chinese restaurants in London. We were booked in for the brunch on Saturday afternoon and felt a bit rushed (arrived at 1.30) and were told that it was a two-hour seating. The food is brought out all too quickly and should be spread out a little more. It is too overwhelming to be served the food altogether like that (15 courses) and it also goes cold very quickly as the plates are not warm and the air con is on. The deserts were fabulous. Cocktails slightly on the pricey side - food could be a bit more creative.
Staff are excellent as is the ambience so no complaints there. However will not be rushing back.
I am big fan of Kai normally but this time it was a little bit below my high expectations.
- One really good dish taken away from menu
- Too quick pace between getting dishes
May seem picky but as I say expect top notch standard.
Amazing food!! Was disappointed in the sevice, sent back chicken which was uncooked, did not receive any acknowledgement from any off the staff or management or did we received apologies, we had ordered some side dish, which remained on our table getting cold, and were not replaced with hot sides as the chicken took 15 mins to come to the table, we have been to many Michelin star restaurant, and that was definitely not the service i expected.
Our favorite place to eat in London. Went twice on a four day trip. Wasabi Prawns!
Excellent evening at the best Chinese restaurant.
It is pricey so one to save for special occasions. The cocktails were so tasty. My personal favourites are the tiramisu martini, spiced passion fruit martini and the lychee martini.
Dessert was also divine- we had the creme brûlée - best creme brûlée preparation I have ever had
Joli cadre situation centrale
Great food especially the ribs love it here
Quit possibly the best restaurant I’ve been to recently! Food was outstanding and the
Manager (Theresa) was delightful. Would recommend to anyone visiting, or living in London! Wonderful!
Definitely Not Michelin Star level!!!
The food was great, but the service was pretty poor. Booked a table for 9:30 and weren’t seated until 10:15. The head waiter apologised but didn’t offer us anything to make up for the inconvenience. A real shame as the food was so good, but I doubt I would bother going back.
The food here is just fantastic. Very nicely presented and it’s tastes unbelievable. The staff are extremely helpful well presented and attend to every need for you. Highly recommend to go if you haven’t. I’ve been now 4 times and worth every penny! :)
We visited Kai last sat for the brunch meal with my two small children. We had 15 different courses and without exception each was delicious. We were offered extra dishes of our favourites, which was much appreciated. The service was perfect - seamless, fun and friendly. I have already recommended this restaurant to a number of friends! Thank you Kai
Sit upstairs. We were sat downstairs and there was no atmosphere. You could tell there was a bad vibe between the staff. Shame because the food was good. Next time I would go to Hakkasan the same price but a much better vibe
Great food. Excellent service. Lovely ambiance. Great for vegetarian too! Pricey but worth it for a treat.
Had a Saturday Brunch here last Saturday. My friend and I enjoyed it a lot. The food was delicious and we got to try a lot of different tastes. The startes were really good, so many different dishes. The main courses were already a little too much because of the so many starters, but still outstanding! We loved the dessert, so yummie and so good!!
Service was really nice and professional, but not too formal which is good, because it feels comfortable instead of too stiff.
Overall a very nice time here, been here already a few times before, but the first time for my friend and she likes it too :)
The food was outstanding, especially the starters. The service was erratic, even a little crude at times, certainly for the price level.
Ideal venue for a special occasion. Outstanding food!
Amazing food. Everything was so good I don't even know where to start, the service was unbelievable, the food was to die for and the dessert was amazing. I height recommend it
I have been to Kai before because I enjoy Chinese food and it isn't easy to find that in London these days. Our meal was reliably good but not as great as I feel it could be. The sweet and sour pork was good but just a little beyond crispy and verging on hard. A noodle dish which sounded mouthwatering drizzled in rendered pork dripping was bland and the noodles were a little tough. When the waiter asked how our meal was and I told him he clearly wasn't interested but said he'd pass it on to the chef. Nobody came and spoke to me about it though. Probably my last visit...
Incredible food. Delicate and fragrant flavours. The seared beef starter and sea bass main were particular favourites. The pandan brule was a delight to finish with and they made my partners birthday very special. Better than Hakkesan for flavours, deserving of the star. Service could have been more attentive.
Will definitely visit again.
The food was cold , they forgot to bring the birthday cake and rewind the night
Great and nice
Expectations have been met.
Great food, fantastic service one of the best locations in London.
All persons dining here should try the vegetarian crispy duck option.
A lovely relaxed setting. The service was perfect, both friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food was outstanding, and I highly recommend the hot and sour soup it was beautiful, and will no doubt come back for this. Do also try the lemon meringue cocktail and stick around for a dessert!
Amazing food as always. Best Chinese in London
Too chi chi
Saturday brunch may not provide food at quite the level of the main menu, but still good.
