Fabulous food and service. Will be booking again!!
Absolutely wonderful dining experience every time! The service is the best in London.
The food was not as expected and it was very hot because the AC was not working, the noodles has not test
The shrimp was good
Treated my partner to a birthday meal here. Food was yummy and great for sharing so that you can try a bit of every dish. A little bit steep in price for the portions. Although I mentioned it was my boyfriend’s birthday in the booking, nothing extra was done although I had seen it mentioned in other reviews. We were sat right next to the door which isn’t always the best place to sit when you’re trying to have an intimate date. Overall, nice place to try out once. Oh, definitely recommend having dessert!
To begin with the noise level from a particular family was so loud. The family had zero consideration for the rest of the guest there. The father was offensively speaking and discipling his children. Quite unnecessary and disturbing to hear all their conversation, which you are forced to listen to especially when you are trying to enjoy a nice date night with your spouse.
The food was quite sub standard, definitely not something you would expect from such a Michelin starred restaurant. The produce was fresh but the food lacked flavour and was quite a put off.. The prawn on toast was no different to what you would get in china town. The cashew chicken (supposedly their most popular dish) tasted of boiled chicken. The nanyang lobster dish was quite sour and distasteful. The only good dish was the pandan creme brulee which was excellent. Overall we had a horrible experience and utterly disappointed. Absolutely no value for money given that the food is horrible. Even the cocktails were nothing great considering the price you pay. I would be happy to speak to a member of staff if they would like to have a better understanding of our experience.
The food was very nice. Roasted duck was quite authentic. Durian Souffle was definitely a highlight. However, the service was very disappointing. I have put down in the reservation was for a birthday celebration. The restaurant didn't prepare anything for it. After the dessert was served, the service was stopped as well. We were expecting the tea is still to be served at least to go with the strong flavoured dessert. It was very difficult to find a staff as well, all of them are so busy to give a response after I waved for so long. Not a nice experience at all, won't recommend.
Terrible restaurant. Overpriced, dirty (especially the toilets), poor service, no atmosphere.
Amazing food, excellent service! Highly recommend xxx
It was a good restaurant but the wagyu beef is very pricey considering the portions we got are really small.
Kai was amazing. Everything from the food, service and ambience was perfect to celebrate a birthday. It was my first time there but won’t be the last.
The food was amazing and service was accommodating for our 10 year old daughter. However, the price point was very high. Overall, we enjoyed our experience.
Hated this place.
My husband and I visit Kai a few times each year on special occasions. On this occasion we tried the afternoon tea which I was very disappointed with. As usual the food was 5*, very tasty but portions were extremely small and with normal afternoon tea sweets are included but dessert was an additional cost. The tea wasn’t unlimited, only one mug of tea which was not topped up.
Service and the quality of food was great, but not value for money due to small portions.
It was my Birthday, we travelled from YORK and stayed the night. It was our first visit and enjoyed our evening. The service was great and we were looked after well.
Honestly one of my favorite London restaurant and my #1 Chinese restaurant. Been coming here for years and I've never been disappointed.
Food was awesome at Kai. We went to celebrate my husbands birthday and they really looked after us from the minute we walked in. The food was delicious and the service just outstanding. Great vegetarian options. We will be back!
Always a pleasure to dine in this restaurant all great! Till next time!!!
Having been going to Kai for special occasions for 8 years I was really disappointed.
The air con was broken on a very warm day and despite a call to confirm our booking that day we weren’t told. So we sat in stifling heat until toward the end of dinner a member of staff offered us their personal hand fan! At which point they found us a floor fan.
I also discovered a piece of plastic in my starter, which was taken away but with no real mention, apology or replacement.
The food was fine but not as good as I remember on prior occasions. Ultimately they treated us to the glasses of champagne we’d ordered “as it was a special occasion”, but didn’t really feel they acknowledged it hadn’t been their best showing. Not sure we’ll be back.
Always the best ❤️
Wouldn’t go if I am hungry. Personally I won’t go again as there was nothing special about it. Dishes were small vs the price. I’ve been to Michelin stars and they served way more for cheaper.
As for Chinese food. There are many more places that serve usual chinese dishes of which are known for their generous amount. One dish is normal to serve Two. Dishes at this restaurant is a kid meal size.
Maybe business dinners of which they won’t eat much but again I was disappointed cuz I’ve heard so much abt this place
Absolutely amazing and the best Chinese food I have tasted. I am fortunate to travel all over the world and have eaten in some outstanding places. However, when I am in London I will always go out of my way to book Kai. Their food and service is second to none.
To give you just a small example of their service, I haven't been able to get to London for over a year and the manager still remembered us and even what we ordered! He sent over two glasses of wine as a kind gesture to welcome us back!
Kai’s interpretation of the afternoon tea was amazing. Loved the savoury and sweet options all were absolutely delicious and unusual. As vegetarians we were very well catered for. Dishes were so good we ordered repeats of several of them. Would thoroughly recommend.
Superb from start to just before the bill arrived !! Fabulous everything bar the prices - extortionate but exquisite.
Great food and wine list. 5 different entree's in our group and all were great. Good advice on the wine.
Staff not as professional as before. Sommelier roaming around and talking to guests w hands in pockets. Another hostess forgot part order and offered nothing for an apology
Excellent Peking duck! I will attempt at home white rice with ginger.
Always the best
Birthday dinner, great as always!
Wonderful evening. Food was outstanding, service was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable , ambiance was casual but up-scale.Excellent wine list and wine steward. Hard to see how our dining experience could have been any better. Only regrets is we have no time to return.
Wonderful service in an elegant atmosphere. Roasted Chilean sea bass was excellent. Be sure to take the sommelier’s advice he has excellent pairings.
Very good food, service is very good - our waiter suggested dishes to us which were very nice.
The drinks are quite pricey - what else would you expect in Mayfair.
Worth trying at least once.
One of the best Chinese in London.
We cannot believe this is a Michelin star Restuarant - the service was SO poor- leaning across to serve, food did not arrive together and having to ask for things several times. Food was tasty but nothing special considering how expensive it is, £200 for soup and main no desserts and they did not have the wine we ordered - would not go there again- think our local Chinese is nicer and definitely cheaper.
We ordered a lot of food between two of us, and ending up complaining about the cheapest dish we ordered which was a starter (ribs) because there was literally no meat on the bone, literally some skin and bone. The waitress told us there’s nothing she could do as we’d eaten them, which I responded saying there was nothing to eat, so I told her to show the chef. She didn’t come back to us and when I saw her I asked her and she said ‘I’m too busy and the chef is too busy so there’s nothing we can do’. Just shocking customer service for a Michelin star restaurant. Our bill was over £300 and she made us feel like we were pulling a fast one for some free ribs. Won’t be going back anytime. Overpriced and poor service.
We love going there when we are in London.
Brunch menu didn’t have a single dish that could be called fine dining. Kai has a better reputation than that. That food was too much like food court in a shopping mall.
Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish, the attention to detail was great, the food was incredible and the service / recommendation from the waiter and sommelier were exceptional. Had a fantastic evening I will definitely be returning.
I’ve been to Kai many years ago and I remembered it as an outstanding place! This was the best Chinese restaurant in london. But not anymore! Today my experience was below average, service was nothing close to mediocre and thankfully for the delicious sea bass otherwise I would’ve hate it. The sommelier is so arrogant I couldn’t believe. Not worth it!
