Very tasty food, very quiet dining in on wet day. Service not fast but we were not in a rush so was partly our fault and no issue from our side. Prices fairly typical. Looks like they do quite a lot of takeaways so I will definitely try that out next time. Waiters had masks on.
Easy booking, traditional cosy restaurant on Sunday night. Very friendly service and delicious food. The mains were late to arrive but we did not mind as the staff were kind and apologised. Fair prices. Will surely visit again.
Enjoyed our meal good value and lovely food we chose. Service was good and restaurant was medium busy but not noisy nice ambiance
Having received a leaflet through the door, we went to the Kathmandu Masala attracted by the Nepalese dishes on its menu. We were not disappointed as it offered something different to the more traditional items that one might expect, although these too were on the menu. We will definitely return to try out some of the other dishes on offer.
Went to the restaurant having checked out the reviews and very glad that I did. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating and the service excellent. The food was tasty and enjoyable and they were happy to recommend dishes and also tweek dishes for our enjoyment. There was also a continuous stream of people coming in to collect takeaway orders which was a good sign. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be returning.
Delicious food , great people outstanding value. We will be back
Celebrated our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful meal. Food and service was fabulous will be going back again in the next month.
As on previous visits, the food was fresh and tasty. All seven members of our
party enjoyed the meal. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Very attentive service and very pleasant staff.Food very good value, well presented and good flavour.
Decided last min to go out for tea with my partner. I remembered they did the buffet on a Sunday so thought that was a good idea rather than just ordering in like normal. People are always friendly and helpful. Very clean and well presented food and restaurant.
Excellent food. Ambience was nice and not overpowering. Friendly service. Will definitely visit again
The road between Elmers End green and Beckenham is becoming a culinary oasis and, unlike Beckenham itself, it's much easier to park. Kathmandu Masala is near the Recreation Ground set within a parade of shops. The inside is pleasant and understated much like the service. I defy anyone to remember who took their order or delivered the food - it all appears with the minimum of fuss leaving the food to speak for itself. The menu is varied without being overwhelming and tends towards Napalese including the beer options.
We booked at the last minute for Valentine's Day evening and the tables had been set with red napkins, a red rose and few hearts on the tables. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, but I'm not sure that I could tell you what I had...and when we left there was no trace of the usual curry smell on our clothing.
Definitely worth a visit - it won't be the most memorable evening of your life but you'll be relaxed and have a warm glow of an evening well spent. Sometimes that's just what's needed.
We have ordered take-aways from Kathmandu Masala on many previous occasions but this was our first time eating-in. Despite the restaurant being very quiet, the staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly. As usual, the food was excellent, especially being fresh from the kitchen. The chef specials offer great alternatives to your run-of-the-mill curry house; they really try to be different with the food and the results are very good indeed. We will definitely continue to use this as our take-away of choice and will also dine at the restaurant when we get the chance.
Went there on my own one evening because of the decent reviews and wasn't disappointed. I had Katmandu Mish Mash which was lamb, chicken and prawns. The flavours were superb and I devoured every last morsel. Delicious.
Instead of catering for the needs of their dining customers, they continued their take away service with casually dressed dressed delivery men strolling up and down with their take away bags which made for crap valentine ambiance! Waited 20 mins for menu, no serviette until requested and ate over an hour after arrival when furious alongside all other dissatisfied diners. Absolutely appalling and never again!
Absolutely no effort was made to create a Valentines evening of fine dining, no valentines balloons, or roses, etc the atmosphere was very dull. We had to wait a while for menus and then had to share, also had to wait approximately 2 hours for our main course. Other guest were complaining about the long wait for their meal. Not enough staff to service the guests on such a celebrated evening.
Valentines night is one of the most celebrated and anticipated nights in the calender for couples having an intimate dinner and memorable for some, where a man may have been planning to propose to their girlfriend; the atmosphere was not conducive.
The management does not appreciate or understand how significant this event is and should've made every effort to ensure, guests have a very enjoyable evening. This is fundamentally down to poor planning.
Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant to any one, neither will we be going back.
The whole experience was amazing.
My husband and I went to Kathmandu Masala for our anniversary and we received great treatment by the staff from when we entered the restaurant.
The food was an absolute hit from the vegetarian starter to the main course. My husband had the non-veg option and chose to have chicken shaslik with naan which he said was delicious and I had the vegetable curry with naan which tasted amazing.
We would surely be attending this restaurant again to experience the other choices on the menu.
Additionally the decor and music was quite classy, it brought a romantic feel to our anniversary dinner.
Tempted by the offer of 30% but will definitely return for the food & the excellent service.
Beautiful interior, friendly staff, tasty food with a good choice of vegetarian options. Recommend.
An excellent meal service 100%
Will pay another visit very soon
Found my new curry restaurant in Beckenham
Really good food, great choice on menu. Very friendly staff
Really enjoyed the tender lamb tikka, juicy and well marinated. Chicken hariyaly outstanding and good service as always.
Great food and service again. Can't wait to be back soon.
The restaurant was a little quiet but it was a Monday night. The service was friendly and we started with drinks, beer, mango lassi (which was very good) and poppadoms. The starter of grilled meets and kebabs was very tasty. For main I had a specialty Kathmandu chicken dish with greens herbs that was very satisfying. My dad had a grilled meat dish with peppers, onions and chillis, the food was of a good standard and not greasy or oily. Overall I would recommend this restaurant.
This was my third visit to Kathmandu Masala and the experience was every bit as good as always. I had scallops which were not in the menu; manager hinted that dish would be listed in menu soon. A scallop was well presented with the assorted pepper, crunchy coconut, mustard seed and few garlic flakes. I really enjoyed green chicken curry with the cheese and chilli Nan. Food quality is outstanding and service is excellent.
Can't wait to come back
This was our second visit to this excellent Indian and Nepalese restaurant and we had a lovely evening. The owner and his staff were friendly and helpful, giving advice about how much to order. They also knew the ingredients in the dishes - and catered for those with food allergies. Also good selection of vegetarian dishes. The small dumplings (Momo's), either meat or vegetable, were great as a starter. The food was nicely presented and the service timely. The restaurant has recently been redecorated in simple colours and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. Music not intrusive. They also do a very good and reasonable take-away service! Looking forward to our next visit.
Kathmandu Masala is a great Nepalese Indian restaurant in Beckenham and I've eaten there several times. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and very accommodating if you have special requests. The food is delicious, freshly cooked and full of flavour. On one occasion my choice of curry was too spicy for me, so they brought me yogurt to calm it down and remade the dish with less chilli. My only criticism is that the Sunday four courses offer is slightly misleading - it in fact consists of four dishes: a starter, a chicken or lamb main dish, a side dish and rice or naan bread. But these are still good value and extremely filling!
This was the second time I ate at this restaurant, and really enjoyed it again. The food was delicious and fresh, and was good value for money. When we first arrived the service was a little slow but we could see how busy the restaurant was and the take-out service seemed to be busy too. Luckily we were in no hurry. However, I did have to ask someone if we could order as we were waiting about 20 minutes.
But all in all, our evening was good and once we had ordered, our food arrived pretty quickly.
Excellent food and service. cetainly be back
Great food & extremely delicious. Very attentive & friendly staff and will be back soon
...probably not the best time to go. The owner/manager kept apologizing that they were so busy and he had no time to devote to us, but the food more than made up for this!
Very good food at a very reasonable price.
Food was great. Service was great. Definately would recomend this place as a must.
The whole experience was amazing. As soon as we walk in to the restaurant, a warm welcome awaits. Staff are an excellent. I had momo ( dumpling ) as per recommendation from the manager. When I first saw, it looked like dim sum and I was not pleased. I had to wait nearly 20 minutes (which is mentioned in the menu) and so hungry and unable to refuse it. When I had first bite with red tomato dips, It just melted in my mouth, it has amazing flavour. If you love the Lamb chops, probably this is the best place to go, very tender, nicely spiced cooked to perfection. Only suggestion is exterior need improvement, interior is like micro museum clean, very interesting and authentic.
We enjoyed our meal. We were made to feel very welcome and thought that it was good value.
A very nice meal, the staff went out of their way to ensure we had a good meal and an enjoyable time. Thanks.
Warm welcomed from smart and hospitable manager led us to table and made us comfortable. Lovely & simple Nepalese decor .Wine list is nicely done. The food is amazing, beautifully presented and the taste's are a symphony on the tongue. This is not a neighborhood vindaloo, greasy and oily takeaway . Rather, it is an authentic, up market dining experience that does not disappoint.
We had a wonderful meal here for my Mother-In-Law's 60th Birthday. The proprietor made sure that the evening was enjoyable, and even went that extra mile to provide us with a Birthday Cake and Candles so it was an evening to remember.
The presentation of the food was contemporary which was pleasing to see, and the food itself was very tasty, with staff very knowledgeable about their specialist cuisine, offering suggestions on what to choose, and their recommendations were very welcomed! I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the locality looking for a sophisticated and enjoyable Indian meal.
OK but nothing more than that. Yak & Yeti at Crystal Palace is much better.
Very nice meal and excellent value especially with the banquet night menu.
The Kathmandu Masala serves good quality food at reasonable prices. The lighting in the restaurant could do with updating, and perhaps a bit of music to drown out the overly loud guests, but the food was good. We had opted for the TopTable four course option, but this just meant choosing certain options (though not all) from the whole menu. Very attentive waiters and a nice complimentary digestif, but it wasn't, all told, a brilliant experience.
Kathmandu Masala does offer delivery in partnership with Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats.
